In 2000, a Spanish company, Advanced Cell Technology announced they would attempt to use cloning to bring the Pyrenean Ibex back from extinction, the first known case of de-extinction that was attempted.

I wish that they'd stop killing off the species that are alive today - then we'd not have to try to clone them to life again.

Not right. This shouldn't be allowed.

I agree, Dandelion - but if humans are responsible for a species vanishing, we should make an honest effort to bring it back.

Agree completely with Dandelion's comments above.

Bit strange of Scientists and Scientism wanting to bring back certain species, but quite accepting of the fact that their actions contribute to the decimation of whole species.

If we couldn't keep the extinct beings in the here and now, what makes us think cloning them back will work? We are not the Great Spirit and have no right to be playing with nature and getting who knows what and will these cloned beings have good quality of life? I'm inclined to think what is gone is gone and we should be trying with every core of our being to save what we have left before it's too late. that should be our fervent aim. Thank you Barb for sharing.❤️

As much as this seems like a good thing, who are we to play God? Shades of Jurassic Park!
