They found the alligator's mouth taped shut when they took the critter into custody in the 2700 block of Galisteo Road, according to Celina Westervelt, the Santa Fe Police Department's public information officer.

We don't see alligators in Santa Fe. This poor baby was obviously a pet, but abandoned to starve to death. I hope they find the cruel person who did this.

When they find the owner, maybe they should tape his mouth shut and turn him loose in the Everglades.

Poor thing. I am so glad he's safe and being well cared for by the wonderful folks at the Santa Fe Animal Shelter. Carrie, thanks for sharing this story - I would never have expected an alligator loose in our hometown of Santa Fe!

Poor alligator, Some people should not be allowed to have any pets. Thank God the dog found it.

Noted. I never thought about an alligator loose in an area where they aren't local. I don't know what to make of the tape...someone's idea of a joke? a challenge? a help? Weird. If folks want to be around gators, move to an area full of them. I'm leaving Florida soon. Take my place.

When are we going to get smart and start executing these psychopaths? Psychopaths abuse animals today and kill people tomorrow!

Marie, you're right about that.

A study was done which proved that most serial killers began their notorious careers
with the torture of animals.

How horrible! Obviously there are cruel people everywhere. I'm so glad it was found. Oliver's idea is creative.

Had to read this when I saw Galisteo - people have alligators as pets there? Wow - I didn't know that - but agree the owners mouth should be duct-taped .
