Nothing is surprising me anymore. If this is really true this is more than criminal, and the company should be charged. Outrageous.

I hear about this type of occurrence more and more frequently. This was standard Triad SOP. Mickey Dees should be complicit in this and the fine 100Xs what was assessed. Also, Mr. Cheung should spend some time in jail among the Latino prisoners perhaps?

Most of the students came to the U.S. from Latin America and Asia under the Summer Work program, ”to experience and to be exposed to the people and way of life in the United States.”

Well this certainly places a poor image of who we are as a Country. Between things like this and the ongoing lies to enter into wars such as in Iraq, drones strikes on whoever is holding the telephone, we are certainly well on our way to be the most detested Country.

These Criminals in the business world in a lot of places have driven down wages and made people both Americans and non Americans slaves to their tactics.

Even if this is an exaggeration, it is pretty shocking. And I thought this company was rotten when they fired a woman for eating the cost of some first responders' dinners.

$205K fine plus back pay for slavery? Sounds like Mickey D got off pretty light. If I hired someone and treated him like that, I would spend the rest of my days in Supermax.

McDonald’s in Pennsylvania, under franchisee Andy Cheung. According to the settlement, Cheung forced the students to work long hours without paying overtime and deducted money from their paychecks as “rent” for having them sleep on bunkbeds in his basement. Modern Slavery - How Disgusting!!
Thanks Carrie.

This is Disgusting, but owner's and manager's do what they want regardless. McDonald's is responsible for their manager's. They hired the SOB's !!
Thank You Carrie

It's more about the individual owner than the franchise but I don't eat their garbage anyway.

noted, thank you for sharing this article. McDonald abuses both our health and the employers. It is a pity that dedicated costumers are indirectly encouraging human rights violations.
