The film American Sniper, based on the story of the late Navy Seal Chris Kyle, is a box office hit, setting records for an R-rated film released in January. Here are seven lies about Chris Kyle and the story that director Clint Eastwood is telling:

The logic of dirty harryism where in movies you always know and hit the bad guy. Then we believe that Harry knows best. When all the intelligence agencies lie to us our dirty harry with the glove off hit Iraq over 9/11. Seems actually harry had a regime change agenda well before 9/11 and just need some lies to fire off war hysteria. The vigilante justice system is easily subject to ulterior motives and all the snipers in Iraq cannot make it moral when the war is illegal and the supposed bad guys are fighting foreign invaders. What would an Iraqi Dirty Harry do?
What does an Afghani dirty Harry do? Apparently we are the deciders of which ones defending their country are right and which are wrong. Now which ones would the British have chosen in our revolutionary war or civil war between loyalist and rebels? And which one the French were backing with loans we defaulted on?

Eastwood has lost himself to the RepubliCON side ..I had read about the "real" Kyle, he is the Uber-RepubliCON no-questions-asked kinda good ol' boy the Army, Navy, etc. would love to clone..and movies glorifying his type mold more..:(

Action movies will always make more money at the box office, over Realism movies.

Chris Kyle sounds like a human puppet prick, just going where the money directed.

Probably one reason why Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth wasn't quite the same box office hit.

Hello John,

Given you know Seals very well, but not Chris Kyle, why don't you present your view of them. My commentary is only based on what I've read so far; if what you presents provides a more balanced and accurate view, I'll happily change my view.

My only view of Seals is that they appear to be highly trained individuals who carry out objectives for government agencies. Is this accurate, or does it fall short of their brief?

I read the story. Guess what, I don't care. These soldiers do not create the wars, our governments do. And they are money making machines I might add. If Chris Kyle or anyone else told a lie, who cares? And if he liked doing his job, again, I don't care. People like him who fight on the front lines every day so we can sit here and bitch about them, deserve some modicum of respect.

well I have seen the film, in my honest opinion, it ceases to be interesting half way through, it is disjointed, but does have moments, where the "soldier"/Navy Seal" thinks outside the box.
I still don't get the ending at all?
Mostly people don't expect our serving forces to think , they act, - why? because otherwise there would be no serving forces .
Don't view this film looking for heroes, there are none !

Wiliam Moorman: "IT's only a MOVIE, get off the herb." So you don't think people are at all influenced by the movies they see? Of course they are! That's why it's important to depict the truth, as far as possible.

Otherwise folks will just believe a lot of lies told to them by Hollywood.
