"The potential deal to free two of its captives shows not only the ruthlessness of the so-called Islamic State, but its considerable political acumen.

TOKYO — The self-proclaimed Islamic State appears to have reached a deal that could spare the life of a Jordanian pilot it had threatened to kill in a matter of hours, Jordan's information minister said on state television on Wednesday. The deal could also include freeing a Japanese journalist. But Jordan's foreign minister says that there is as yet no proof the pilot is still alive, and Jordanian officials have not made any reference to the Japanese hostage. Officials in Tokyo, after guarded optimism earlier in the day, are now silent."

Japan ought to think seriously about what it does from now on, with regards to ISIS and any other terrorist group.

Doing Exchange deals with Deash/ISIL only help them in their propaganda,we are not even sure if the Jordanian pilot is still alive.
Unfortunately USA openend the door to this kind of deals when they negotiated with the Talibani's over the release of Bo Bergdal,so they have lost all credibility when they are stating:"We don't negotiate with terrorists."

Arild, I agree...Bergdahl opened a very dangerous gate compliments of Barack Obama. Huge mistake for the US. It appears that Bo will be charged with desertion which is another story.
