Thanks for sharing Nancy!

that's so poor; people should prefer to care about the real issues like Climate Change, Environmental Issues, corruption and real crime rather than discriminate a child for a haircut!

"A distraction!" O please!!
i find it ironic, too that the school is called ARROWHEAD!
The child's father had to get a letter from tribal leaders to explain the Native American tradition of wearing Mohawks. i find that VERY insulting, why doesn't the school know, they are near several reservations!!!

Teachers & administrators need to relieve their stress & hatred elsewhere!

Glad the boy still has the Mohawk & is in school.

Thanx Nancy

Oh, it's MORE than just a "haircut"; ....."the hairpiece" (Trump) would have gotten away with it....THAT'S the injustice, LOLz
The name of the school should rather be changed into "Narrowhead" -
TY, Nancy

Over and over again, it's always the American Indian that must continue to jump through hoops just to be Indian. I'd like to see them toss out a Jewish boy for wearing his Kippah.

One is there to get an education, expressing ones heritage is not compromising that. If the others can't take their eyes off of his hair then it's their problem and maybe the teacher should teach them about cultural identity and that it's impolite to stare.

Oh good grief. I doubt the other kids paid much attention.

Let the kid wear the haircut. It shows he is not a 'follower.' In five years it will not matter how the kid wears his hair in Grade 2. Peace to all.

"Distracting"? Give me a break. When you're an airhead, ANY thing is "distracting."

Oh, and if the kid were white, would it be "distracting"?

Okay, maybe if "he" were a "she."

If they want to make him cut his hair, make them all wear the same haircut! And that's preposterous!
It's a shame they want keep eradicating the Native American roots!! They should be glad that he keeps to his traditions! He will be a fantastic person!
Way to go, little guy! Do it YOUR way!

This child did nothing wrong. Focus on EDUCATION not on the style of his hair.

Culture and heritage are important to a healthy self esteem. During the 19th and 20th century in North America, First Nations children were taken to residential schools where their hair was cut off and their native language forbidden. What would have happened if this young child had shown up at school with long hair? Another question, would the same thing happen to a white child, or an African American child, or an Orthodox Jewish boy with payot or sidelocks? To the Jewish boy, his payot are part of his religion, as not cutting the hair is part of the Sikh religion. So too is this boy's hair a part of his spiritual connection and heritage.

Shame on the teacher and school for allowing this obscenity of discrimination!

Noted---balderdash---any excuse to peck away at Native American spirit and history--and body and soul. Throw the kids out who have wild dyed hair, half or quarter of their head shaved, spikes, dreadlocks, on and on---very intrusive. My mother spoke to the high school principal several times, defending my brother's longer hair in the mid 60's--summer's he had the Beatle haircut--and when the principal said the barber should be shot---she told him she was his barber. Finally, he backed down and 3/4 of the boys let their hair fly. Thanks Nancy.

what if he wore his hair in braids and a headband? Or Navajo bun? Or shaved with design? Or white guy skinhead shave? Sounds like the lessons are so boring the kids NEED something to distract them and keep them awake!
what if he was really deformed, would they make him wear a paper bag on his head?
