TRANSLATION:

We completely stop deforestation in the Colombian Amazon

Dejusticia has started this Petition to: Regierung von Kolumbien Ministerium für Umwelt und nachhaltige Entwicklung Kolumbieno and to 20 more

(To join this request is not necessary to make any financial contribution, Dejusticia does not receive any money collected by the petition, with your signature is sufficient)

We are 25 children and young people from 17 regions of Colombia, which we demand from the Colombian State seeking to defend our environmental heritage. We ask you to fulfill your commitments to stop logging in the Amazon and reduce the emission of the gases that cause climate change.

With the support of Dejusticia we present the first action of protection on climate change and future generations of Latin America. Our request is simple but profound: that all the environmental authorities in our country implement concrete actions to reduce to zero the rate of deforestation in our Amazon, a commitment that the Government ratified at the Climate Change Summit in Paris in 2015.

And although our country committed to achieve this goal by 2020, this problem continues to worsen. In 2016, deforestation increased by 44%. In total, 178,597 hectares of forest were logged, which is almost the size of a department like Quindío.

Deforestation in the Colombian Amazon (the most biodiverse region in the world) violates the rights to enjoy a healthy environment not only of the people who inhabit that region, but of all Colombians because all the ecosystems are interconnected. In countries like the United States, groups of young people have filed legal actions to demand that their rights be protected as a future generation in the face of the effects of climate change. And in the Netherlands, citizens have also gone to court for the government to reduce the emission of gases that produce climate change.

In Colombia and Latin America this is the first guardianship of this type.

Sign and share this petition because deforestation is a serious threat to the rights to life, health, water, food and the healthy environment of children, adolescents and young adults who will live in the year 2070 when the temperature is expected to rise by 1.6 ° C due to climate change(To join this request is not necessary to make any financial contribution, Dejusticia does not receive any money collected by the petition, with your signature is sufficient)
