"We are healers, teachers, caretakers, givers of life, and so much more. Mothers are powerful; if we come together, we can be unstoppable." (Valerie Bell, mother of Sean Elijah Bell, killed by NY plainclothes police on his wedding day at age 23)

Thank you for posting some of the highlights of the day. I had made mention of this event on one of my send outs to point out that it was coming up.

Although African Americans are being targeted at greater numbers than their population as a whole we must not forget that all families are under siege at this point. If you are poor you are at a disadvantage and you will be used and abused in this system so matters not what skin tone one has. More poor are being created every year as a funnel of wind is sucking up the laborers wealth that he and she toils at every day. When people are working no one should be in poverty, but that is the case for far too many people. Many are just barely above the poverty line and the Elders and Disabled in this Country are finding it increasingly difficult to live anymore on their meager retirements. Any savings they might of had lost to the economic theft by the Greedy Heartless Ones who tanked the economy also robbing millions of their homes as well.

What kind of future are we able to leave for any of our children if they are not born into wealth? One can't even look at them with a straight face anymore and say as our parents did, get a good education and work hard and you'll be rewarded for it. A good education now places one in debt for years if they can ever pay it off and jobs that should pay well are fewer every year.
