The Obama administration delivered a major setback to Shell's Arctic drilling plans on Tuesday, by ruling that the company can't simultaneously bore two wells into the Chukchi Sea this summer.

Shell Oil has no business drilling in the Artic, or anywhere else on Earth! Not that any of the other companies are any better...thanks, Judy.

Yes, a blow from Obama is good, but a bigger blow would be better. Like NO drilling. Shell thinks it's bigger than the rules. They are trying to ram through the process of approval, and rush to drill as much as possible, as fast as possible. In this environment, such recklessness is likely to cause a disaster. They have absolutely no respect for the ecosystem at all.

thanks for sharing this promising news Judy--sets grounds for limiting a variety of requests to smaller than proposed at least--

When I saw the headline I was hoping for more, but as JL says, something is better than nothing Though none of it will matter when the planet burns up.

Noted. Thanks, Judy. I agree---no drilling. Article says that Shell spent 7 years and $7 Billion trying to find crude in the Arctic Ocean; and that it's already committed $1 Billion to this year's planned drilling activities. All that time and money could've been better spent investing in switching to green renewable energy. Heavy sigh!

Can't believe any company would get permission to drill in the Arctic. Can you imagine an oil spill there....unbelievable.

I lost my respect to Mr. Obama when he gave permission to Shell, I guess he does not care about the future generations, not even animals and the environment of course... I pity the coming generations

I agree, Melania.
