Tens of thousands of people surrounded Japan's Parliament in Tokyo on Monday to protest Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's proposed "war legislation" that would allow the country's soldiers to deploy abroad for the first time since World War II.

Glad to see the protests and hope they are effective! Yes, Peace! As I understand it, this is part of a deal with the U.S. A terrible deal.

A s long as countries remain neutral and uninvolved in world affairs isis and organisations like it will get stronger and continue their orgies of rape and murder. There are times when nations need ti=o unite and send troops abroad to combat an oppressive evil..Remember the nazis..

I remember after WWII that Japan was supposed to be de-militarized FOREVER - and that's what the Japanese people themselves wanted!
From other countries' point of view, Japanese soldiers and the military Occupations had committed TERRIBLE ATROCITIES and those people never wanted to see such things happen again!
From the Japanese point of view, they had been BETRAYED into support of military "glory" by power-hungry nationalists - which wrecked the country.
NOBODY wanted the Japanese Military to have ANY chance at grabbing power for itself again!

NOW of course it's the UNITED STATES that is PRODDING Japan to go back to the military route...
BECAUSE WARS ENRICH THE CONTRACTORS AND THE WEAPONS-MAKERS is a huge reason.
Also we want "Allies" in our IMPERIALIST AMBITIONS to "control" and "surround" China and Russia with our bases.
The Japanese people have always HATED the permanent American military bases on their territory.
After the 2 Atomic Bombs we dropped on them - the ONLY country which has suffered such devastation in a war - the people of Japan have been extraordinarily drawn to PACIFISM...

Well done to the Japanese protesters. The US anti-war effort is very disappointing in comparison.

I was glad to see the Japanese protesters. It seems like the conflagration of war is erupting throughout more and more of the world, and we must do all we can to counteract it!

I recall that as well BMutiny.....de-militarized forever. A Country that had to A-bombs dropped on it wouldn't be in a hurry to go into war again.
