The gig economy is "....a weird yet historic mash-up of Silicon Valley technology and Wall Street greed" which is being thrust "upon us (as) the latest economic fraud: the so-called 'sharing economy..."

Sigh....I'm glad I'm on my way out and not on my way in. I feel badly for the children today such as my own grandchildren.

For those who want to this is an important petition - speaking of greed.....

A political corruption/money in politics petition in FL:
from related email from Demos:
"More than 127,000 petitions calling for reforms to get big money out of politics in Miami-Dade are sitting untouched in the local county clerk’s office. You can help make sure the community’s voices are heard.

Earlier this week, I told you about New Florida Majority and others delivery of 127,000 signed petitions calling for a referendum on how political campaigns are financed. If approved by voters, this measure would make the elections process much more equitable and empower working-class people and people of color in Miami-Dade to have a more equal voice in local politics and policy.

Despite their clear and time-sensitive demand to make Miami-Dade more democratic and more inclusive, the Secretary of Elections has yet to start counting the ballots—something that must happen in the next 10 days for the referendum to get on the ballot. Why? When the mayor and 7 county commissioners didn’t show up to a meeting, the commission couldn’t reach a quorum to vote to ask for the petitions to be counted. The fact that the will of the people to get big money out of their political system is being ignored is unconscionable.

You can help ensure the voices of these 127,000 people will not be silenced."

Signed the MoveOn petition that Dandelion posted above.

Of course, AZ was mentioned in the article---with it's strong ALEC link. I am so sick of their influence in my state. And, so many are unaware of what's happening. Especially in our universities.
But, in speaking with one of my relatives recently, who I thought was a bit more right-wing than left-wing,
I found out that she is informing herself of the facts now and learning so much that she actually watches and likes Bill Maher now. This is a big turn for her, and we had a discussion that pleased me to realize her new-found interest. And, she is in a position to share this with many others (as a small business owner and longtime AZ resident).
Things must change from the bottom up. And, I'm a bit encouraged to see others in AZ interested in the political machination in our state. We haven't gotten as bad as other states like WI and others that have been massively funded and deeply swayed by the Kochs. And, I hope we can turn this around before it gets there.
