Heartstick euthanasia, otherwise known as intracardiac injection, is inhumane. At best, it involves a sodium pentobarbital-filled syringe being jabbed through a sedated animal's chest wall into the heart. At worst, the animal is fully conscious,

What an awful, painful way to die. Isn't it bad enough that the dogs and cats are there through no fault of theirs, but to suffer death this way or by the gas chamber is truly barbaric. We created the problem of over-population so we should, at least, offer the animals the dignity of a peaceful death. Shame on the shelters that still use either or both methods on the animals that they are supposed to care for.
