Millions of people throughout the world -- workers, students, immigrants, professionals, houseworkers -- employed and unemployed alike -- will take to the streets on May 1st to unite in a General Strike against a system that does not work for us.

WE THE PEOPLE are the real power all over the world and if we worked, walked and did it together what a force for good we would be....those with power and money fear this and use that old trick over and over since your days in school-divide and conquer...

Will have a look to see what is in my area.

Time for the people to rise above the corporations...

Tell them that WE are not going to take their crap anymore!

Video tape anything and everything. Send the videos to a trusted friend for safekeeping
just in case you are "arrested"...

Ty, Dandelion.

I'd try it again Olivia, sometimes it's our own computer doing it. I had that happen on another story someone else placed on, went back to it later on and it was working fine.

Haven't heard of anything going on in Britain other than the normal May Day events.

Great thoughts, Jim. I will also have to check locally to see if there is anything happening to support this. I will also stay home - no shopping, no gas purchases, no banking, etc.

Thank you Angelika, you are welcome Arild.

Daytona Beach, nearest to me.

Meet at SE corner of International Speedway Blvd and Beach St, Downtown, Daytona Beach, Fl

On Tuesday, May 1, 2012, Occupy Daytona Beach, in solidarity with Occupy Wall Street and millions around the globe, will be participating in the May Day General Strike! That means NO WORK - NO SCHOOL - NO CHORES - NO SHOPPING - NO BUYING - NO BANKING - NO TRADING!

Many thanks to all those participating, whether with physical presence or with simply dropping out for a day.
Obviously, one day is not going to kill any business but it does make a statement - which the wise would heed.

Thanks for the information, Dandelion! I wasn't able to access my Care2 messages (or click to donate, or anything else that would have allowed me to take any actions) for several days and am still finding that I have some catching up to do. I appreciate the info and WILL find a way to make to leave a mark on May Day --no matter how insignificant it might be. The sum of the parts is what counts! Will be in touch soon!

I just happened to notice Armand that the two of you who mentioned you could not access this site are both from Conn. Is your State doing a blackout on you? Don't want you to join any Occupy Movement activities? I don't know, just saying, as you are both from same State.

My calendar is marked. We the people have had enough of the 1% marginalizing, condescending towards and attacking us. They may not like us but we have what they need: our collective buying and spending power. Without the 99%, the 1% wouldn't be able to exist. Thanks Dandelion.

Kath R., I sure hope it shakes up the 1% and shakes some sense into their thick heads and out of elitist, greed fueled complacency and indifference. I may be overly optimistic but hope springs eternal.

Been looking forward to this day for awhile. My local Occupy has plans up on their website, and I have it on my calendar. I hope this tops the NYC November rally, where thousands showed up....and the "bat signal" shone on a local building. Thanks for posting, Dandelion. mediaforthe99percent.com and occupystream.com should have livestreaming of worldwide rallies. I'll be watching when I'm not partaking...hope everyone can get involved in some manner.

New York City weather should be 60 degrees with some showers.
I have every intention of attending although it would defy the
main objective...spending moneys would be required to attend the
rally.
I am fascinated by the OWS movement and the strides they are willing
to make for changes in the financial and corporate industries.
Although not a sign carrier nor a vocal protestor and have never been
arrested either, I shall add my support to the movement in sheer volume
of numbers of Occupiers present.
NYC Law Enforcement is overly zelous under orders of City Official and Mayor
Michael Blumberg. Occupiers must assume a constant non violance presentation.

Noted. The first of May is tomorrow. Too few time for organizing! Idea is good, but the date May 1 remembers to my people Russian ocupation. This date was great holiday of our ocupants. They always marched then holding red enemy flags and obliged native people to march together with them to honour great Russian Imperium and its great leader murderer Stalin (and his future descendants.

I'm sorry that this date represents something different for you. I certainly would understand why you would rather hold something on another date.

Thank you Dande ~ Would attend, still flat on my back from surgery! So, will see if anything is in my area and possibly some of my friends here in are going to do something...

Though I know some people here in San Diego will have something going on or at least Los Angeles, California are always in on anything that has to do with Protests!!! They would be on the streets with a sign to save the snakes if someone handed them a sign! Always see something somewhere when I drive! Looking for a follow up on what happened and will be watching the news, tomorrow is May Day...this year has gone way to fast!
