Such a conference should seek an end to the practices of bombing, of murdering by drone-warfare, and of deploying troops anywhere in the world. There must be an end to the destabilization of entire countries for the purpose of controlling them.

Dear Mr Mikhail Gorbachev,
We ask you to initiate a world peace conference for the international coordination of nonviolent resistance to highly dangerous U.S. and NATO actions in Eastern Europe, Ukraine, and elsewhere. Such a conference should seek an end to the practices of bombing, of murdering by drone-warfare, and of deploying troops anywhere in the world. There must be an end to the destabilization of entire countries for the purpose of controlling them. Legal standards must no longer be set aside by arbitrary interpretations.

It's a nice thought and Gorbi won the Nobel Peace Prize, so that would be a good reason to send him the petition. However, he's 84 years old now and living in a different Russia dominated by Vlad who isn't anywhere as nice as Gorbi but seems to have this incredible luck or something when is comes to disappearing opponents. Since Putin took power Gorbachev hasn't even been allowed to register his social democratic party.

G7 foreign ministers meet today in German town of L├╝beck. US Secretary of State just arrived but there is little hope concerning the results of this conference as Russian minister Lavrov has not been invited.

Gorbachov is pro-Putin since some years, so I doubt if he will ever do anything significant for world peace...

Are we certain he hasn't been put in isolation by the current despot...only taken out when he's been brain washed...agree with ApoSick.

@Dandelion G.: So I asked you, "Gorbachev? Why him?" and your response was, "Why not him?"
That isn't an answer. There are thousands of more influential people in the world, what makes you think petitioning him is better? What makes you think he could/would do anything useful?

Again what makes you think he wouldn't or couldn't? Personally I think he is a wiser man being in his 80's. But he is an older man, perhaps he doesn't want to be involved in this so would like to remain quiet and go fishing.

If you see my very first comment, I placed this petition on for someone else. Gee, don't shoot the messenger. As it was for peace I gladly posted it for them.

So it was an answer, sorry it wasn't some answer you were looking for. But then you didn't answer mine so I guess it comes down to if people want to sign or not to sign. Up to them, I just tried to be a helpful C2 member and posted it for them.
