Clinton Positions Herself to the Right of Trump in National Security Speech

World  (tags: Hillary Clinton, Phyllis Bennis, Institute for Policy Studies, national security speech, Donald Trump, neo con, militaristic )

Phyllis Bennis of the Institute for Policy Studies says although Clinton rightfully used her national security speech to condemn the bigotry and outlandishness of Trumps positions, she laid out a much more militaristic foreign policy.

Thanks Dandelion for making it possible for people to see that on national security and foreign policy Clinton is the worse of the two evils represented by so-called front runner candidates, not the lesser evil.

Noted. Thanks for posting, Dandelion.
Both petitions already signed.

I agree that Clinton is pandering to the warmongers, as well as solidifying the state of perpetual war we are in. The Corporate funders representing the military weapons corporations are donating huge sums of money to both Dems and Reps to keep the money flowing. And, as the media continues to fearmonger, too many Americans have no idea what these many wars are costing us. Then they place the blame for our economy on Social Security, education, and other programs which they now love to call "Entitlements."
The Corporate War Machine is what is truly Entitled here, and they need to be massively shrunk.

That is why I will not vote for either T-Rump (obviously), or Clinton. Bernie voted against war, and is not pro-AIPAC, either (he is for the two-state solution). He understands where the huge amounts of our tax dollars flow......but he can't do it alone. Yes, Jill Stein will be getting my vote if Bernie is not a candidate.

GREAT assessment and piece there by Sachs! Many thx Judi-incl for all otther great wrk providing links- I can see how this is close to your CA heart right now!! Praying for Bernie, keepin fingers crossed as well!

She is not only the "voice of US foreign policy failure" , it is more and far more serious looking to the future! I am tempted to share the frightening evaluation for the future should she get the WH power which a friend wrote me..need to get clearance/permission for that first. I share the view, yet try not to lose my mind and go insane of fear..

The Problem With Hillary Clinton’s Attack on Trump’s Foreign Policy Is… Hillary Clinton
Yes, Trump has a record of odious, irresponsible pronouncements. But Clinton has a lousy record.

I refused to subscribe to The Nation, noticed they quite often exhibited a pro-Clinton stance and often other right-wing tendency articles. They also cheated on the free artciles, forced a subscription after only reading ONE, claiming "you read your 4 free articles" or something along that line.
The nasty trick most resorted to as of lately... and they line up their articles one below the other so that if you mistakenly unintentionally scroll down too far, that counts as reading the other articles.

In this day and age you just can not say what you think without all the facts. Even if you have all the money in the world. The politicians currently are promising many things and they do not talk about how these programs will be implemented. To have a big debt forgiven might entice some to vote for that guy. But what will happen to the ones that expect that money to come in? The institutions that helped with the education of all those forgiven debts would soon have to close their doors. Deporting a certain type of people from our country is not the answer nor is putting up a wall.

The educational institutions already have their money Robert and thus would not be affected.

Too much about Hillary is in the negative.....When Nina Turner chose to support Bernie Sanders once she got to know who he was and what he was all about, she left the Hillary Clinton camp. She said that it became very vicious against her from the Hillary camp once she made this well known. I also see how some of the Hillary supporters act on C2....not all, but it seems there is an overall negative that swarms around her and brings out the worst in some people.

Thanks for the links for Roberts concerns. One has to remember that we had near free college tuition in the USA and we had some of the best colleges in the free world. We are suppose to be the wealthiest Country in the world so don't tell me we can't do what other Countries do by sending their students to Colleges for free or low cost. In fact Germany has offered to educated our citizens for free all we have to do is go there. Something wrong with the picture if we can't educate our own yet another Country can.

True--including what seems now to have been a pretense in recent interviews that she was going to honor the DNC rules and not pretend the superdelegates count now...since the AP chose to ignore the rules and just declared, her campaign is emailing (lists they include Bernie supporters on even when asked to be removed so intent appears to try to interfere with people voting) that she has won the nomination per the AP...turns my stomach the hypocracy

Excellent article based on facts as we start this primary election day:
"NOTE: neither candidate can clinch the nomination before June 14, and that makes for a 'contested convention' -- one where the candidate is to be chosen in Philadelphia at the end of July. "

For some reason cannot find this original statement on the WH website.. anyway, mind you.. Now they already jumped to projection at just 63% counted...
"With 63% of votes counted, CNN reports that Clinton had won 56.3% of votes, while rival Bernie Sanders had won 42.8%."

JL A (281)
Wednesday June 8, 2016, 8:10 am
Just finished looking at down-ticket impacts...there are at least 6 congressional, assembly and state senate races that a higher voter turnout should've let one of the DEM candidates beat one of the GOP candidates in the open primaries for getting on the Nov. ballot that will only have GOP choices (no write-ins permitted) due to the AP and other media's at least unethical choices. You bet that makes me righteously angry.

Angelika R (143)
Wednesday June 8, 2016, 8:50 am
We'll never know the FULL impact of that really nasty AP move but chances are a great deal people stayed home because of the alleged uselessness.. Also I think they will NOT bother to still count the mail votes and the provisional ballots most certainly went to the trash.
As for SD -sure looks like FL 2000 ...

JL A (281)
Wednesday June 8, 2016, 4:45 pm
Also please note last night's results would not be expected to include most if not all of the 60% who voted by mail--that count began today in most counties according to the SOS's webpage.

JL A (281)
Wednesday June 8, 2016, 4:50 pm
P.S. The counties have until July 30th to finish...which means results may change before or after the convention, too--historically the majority of the vote by mail arrive on election day (can be turned in at a polling place) are people deciding CA based on less than half of the votes?

Sheryl G (359)
Wednesday June 8, 2016, 5:13 pm
I'm really disgusted with the Corporate media and the Hillary camp for constantly jumping the gun. Half the votes not even counted and the slime bag reporting by the AP - as Angelika said, we'll never know the full impact that had on the election. Heads should roll......

Why does it seem like Santa Clara County is slow when it comes to counting votes? All 932 precincts have to send the ballots here to the registrar of voters before they're counted. A spokesman says he believes they're the only county to do that in the Bay Area. Another reason is the vote by mail ballots being turned in on Election Day.

"Seventy-two percent of our voters vote by mail. So obviously when those vote by mail ballots come back we need to check the signatures on those envelopes before we can open them. And checking signatures on 72 percent of 788,000 ballots takes quite some time," said Philip Chantri, SCC registrar of voters.

That is 788,000 ballots!

Workers will be counting ballots 24 hours a day until all the votes are counted. And mail in ballots postmarked with the date from Election Day and received by Friday will also have to be counted. They're expecting a lot of votes, with a 50-to-60 percent turnout. In 2012, just 38 percent of voters participated in the primary.

My favorite points...
"The fact is that Clinton has generally marched in lock step with the neocons as they have implemented an aggressive “regime change” strategy against governments and political movements that don’t toe Washington’s line or that deviate from Israel’s goals in the Middle East. So she has backed coups, such as in Honduras (2009) and Ukraine (2014); invasions, such as Iraq (2003) and Libya (2011); and subversions such as Syria (from 2011 to the present) all with various degrees of disastrous results."

It sure is a lot of votes and the media and Clinton had no right to claim anything when they did. She may still of won, however, a lot of votes still wasn't even looked at. It is not correct no matter how you look at it.
