I know members have been helpful of passing the word around for animals needing medical help perhaps we can do the same for a human member that is also in need.

Kevin has been a member since 2007 his profile is:
Kevins Profile

His wife Jill has been a member since 2006. Her profile is:
Jill His Wifes Profile on C2

I was sent this just before Christmas but with the holidays and the C2 glitches I wanted to be sure he had as much exposure as possible as people are so busy over the holidays and I was in hopes that C2 would be running better. Although the holidays are over the PM's are still messed up so I'll just place this on here and hope for the best as I don't know how long their fundraiser lasts and there is a need.

I have personal contact with Jill and I know this is an actual family and the story is true.

I cannot help right now, I have a suggestion for Jeff but I don't know if it will help. Try contacting Joni and Friends, an organization run by Joni Eareckson Tada, who was paralyzed in 1967. She is a strong evangelical Christian so any help would come with wanting to introduce you to Christ or make sure you are a Christian. Because your situation is so similar to hers I think she would be moved to help you. http://www.joniandfriends.org/

It is a shame, that in the so called richest Country in the world that the disabled should have to put up a Go Fund Me Page. Real exceptional aren't we. So yes, people like Kevin and even many who simply haven't any medical insurance at all must depend on the good gracious of others in the "land of plenty for the few".

He's not alone. There appear to be thousands if not millions struggling without insurance who are relying on the charity of others.

I've started getting, well, have been for a while now, requests for cash and donations through facebook, and whilst I'm in no position to help them directly, I try and share whatever website or facebook page they've set up for request for help.

It's alarming that so many are in need, when so few have so much wealth.

Thank you Dandelion. I appreciate all of the supportive comments made by everyone. I understand people are tight for money. And I see a lot of you have shared this with other medias and friends. Thank you again. Darren you are right about millions struggling with and without insurance. Unemployment and underemployment is especially common with those who have disabilities. We are not mentioned. And rarely listened too. Thank all of you for your support. Kevin

Yes it is a shame that in the richest county in the world the disabled, and many others who need care, can't get it.
We can't afford good education, infrastructure, healthcare, or job creation for all, but we can spend billions to bomb people on the other side of the world. Don't mean to get all political on this story having to do with Kevin M., but it's just so screwed up.

But it's a fact Bryan, due to the politics too many must suffer across this land and overseas because of it. It does not matter at what age one is from the children through the Elders, disabled and non, our Veterans and everyone in between, we are all suffering when more than 50% of our discretionary budget goes on bombs and wars of one type or another.

What is left has to pay for this bloated Prison Industrial Complex so by the time it comes to Education and Health Care there is little left. Even for those who have some health insurance it isn't adequate unless you have plans like they do in DC and who can afford those. We the tax payers pay for their golden medical care and the rest of us must work in the Health CareLESS System.

I see another Anonymous donation, not sure if that came from C2 or FB but thank you whoever you are. If FB then someone at least forwarded it to another Social Media site, either way thanks so much.

I think you should stop calling USA the richest Country in the world.

"What Is the Current Deficit?

The U.S. Federal budget deficit is $441 billion as of the most current budget estimate. That's for Fiscal Year 2017 which covers October 1, 2016, through September 30, 2017. The deficit occurs because U.S. government spending of $4.073 trillion is higher than its revenue of $3.632 trillion. (Source: "Table S-5. Mid-Session Review Fiscal Year 2017," Office of Management and Budget, July 15, 2016.)

If we look at Norway:

Norway’s sovereign wealth fund has grown so much that it makes every Norwegian citizen a “theoretical” millionaire. The country reached the milestone thanks to a recent increase in oil and gases prices during 2013.
While the rest of Europe remains mired in financial crisis, Norway has quietly been amassing a huge fortune which reached 5.11 trillion crowns ($828 billion) on Wednesday, according to figures from the country’s central bank - Norges Bank.

The new figure is over a million times Norway’s population which totaled 5,096,300 in the third quarter of 2013.
The surplus revenue from Norway’s oil and gas investments around the world is collected in the Government Pension Fund Global.

And as you all will see this wealth is put into a Government pension fund so the wealth is distributed faily.

Darren Woolsey (218)
Tuesday January 10, 2017, 6:47 am
And a lot of that spending has gone on the Military Industrial Complex, the shoring up of the Banks on Wall Street, not to mention continuous aid to Israel which has in its turn been used to fund the projects to persecute Palestinians

Reshared the Fund page over social media.

It is the richest for many billionaires live here......not richest for the common people Arild. I say this is gest as this is what is thrown down our throats all the time over here, how fortunate we are to live in the "richest Country in the world" - leads people to be happy with their crumbs by thinking, if this is what it's like living in the richest it is less movement by the people to do anything for fear of losing the little they have. It's been a propaganda tool and it's worked.

The way I see it Sheryl:
"The American Dream" is what has been sold to the masses, work hard and you'll be successful, give to charity and you will feel good and it's tax deductible.
Joseph Raymond "Joe" McCarthy (November 14, 1908 – May 2, 1957) with his which hunt against communists didn't help either.
The last straw was Debbie Wasserman Schultz and the DNC way they worked against Bernie to "Coronate" Killary, that made the Democrative Party obsolete.

Most Americans lack the understanding of working for a common cause,"One for all and all for one",thats why you don't have a Universal Health Service and you have almost no Social Security network.

Now I'm listening to the Confirmation Hearings of Jeff Sessions and it's not pleasant...............
All of Trump's nominations are fitting right in with his fascists way of thinking and it doesn't look good for the common man/woman.

Arild, that's a good point about the US not actually being rich. I hear that statement a lot when people talk about what could be done and i think it speaks more to the size of the US economy and potential. Instead of realizing the potential, billions and trillions are pissed away on military spending and wars, the wealthiest corporations and people don't pay their fair share in taxes, and money is not invested into the common good.

Yes i agree that most, or many, Americans lack understanding of the common cause. They've been indoctrinated to believe everyone should and can be a rugged individual providing all their own needs. It's just a smokescreen to screw people over. People can't realize the simple truth that one can be strong, self sufficient, and creative, and at the same time honor being part of the whole and attend to the needs of all. And receive great benefits from the commons.

They are also petty minded and fearful, like the religious fundamentalist who clings to dogma while violating all spiritual principles. When they are presented with the reality of the common good, they are like the monkey with its hand stuck in the coconut - to afraid to let go for fear of losing some peanuts.

And the sad truth is that as this system batters more and more people down, and the media is only propaganda, they just try to fit in and get along with having the basics of living.

Yes, basics, like Lenore, with ok. I think you sized it up pretty well Bryan. Most people I know are just tired, sick, overworked, discouraged, and many feel defeated. Sometimes the best we can do is keep them from falling apart and bring on a smile or two.

Not easy watching and also being a part of the people who lost their homes, their savings, their health care, jobs, their loved ones from the stress, suicides, depressions, or die sooner because of physical issues left untreated. You got that one, to live here you must be a rugged individual, because any sign of loss or a weakness in any way, one gets eaten alive.

Just reshared over social media again.

I have issue with and disagree with the assertion made by some that it's some members decision to either Note, or type Thanks, or whatever, when there are sufficient submissions posted here, of relatively minor substance and/or of importance, WHEN THIS GUY obviously NEEDS help, and people are merely passively posting Noted or Thanks just to claim their damn butterfly points.

I mean, are people so senseless and de-sensitized that they literally don't care. . . ?

I agree Darren, when C2 started it was an activism site. While no one is prevented from posting lovely songs or cute bunnies hopping around, to me if you are on an activism site it might be nice to become a little active. We can all use a little down time, the lovely song or watch the cute bunnies from time to time, but when presented with an article where one can really help one should try to do so, however it is in their power to do so.

We can't always help stop a war right away, but we can certainly make some inroads with a situation like this. There was a time when C2 had a lot of active members that did just that, made big impactful moves. Why I posted the Dakota 38 that was only one of many places were members got a movie made to bring information to the public. Now I see too many more concerned about their butterfly count accuracy than dispersing information to save our arses or at least to help one member.

Thank you to everyone here who has contributed through donations, encouraging words and spreading the word. I always get better responses at Care2 than FB. People here are so supportive.
Unfortunately, this, along with many, if not all, our problems are political. There isnot excuse for any of the struggles our people and our planet faces. No excuse.
It all comes down to respect and the people we keep choosing for "leaders" have no respect for the American people nor the planet...life in general.
We should have had universal healthcare decades ago. When Kevin had private insurance with his job they did not pay one dime for medical supplies, wheelchair repairs or home healthcare. All of that was out of pocket. Even with Kevin's full time job and my working 4 part time jobs, we both have 4 year degrees, those expenses kept us at the poverty line anyway. Even with degrees, as many of you know, pay was low. Kevin worked for a community college and I worked for county, national, and private parks and organizations. I get sick of hearing the news talk about low paying jobs and the answer is a degree. Right.
Anyway...
before I get too far on my soap box
THANK YOU to everyone for your support. It makes things a little lighter.

Thank you to everyone who has noted and shared this story. it has helped. We have not contacted Bill Gates but Kevin is working on finding out how to apply for a vehicle donation through Ellen Degeneres. She has a vehicle donation program. i apologize for being so silent for so long but a month ago Kevin's wheelchair broke down, thankfully in the middle of our living room. We had been out all day and luckily it broke down after we got home. One motor went out and we were unable to move it. it had to sit in the living room. I spent the first few days arguing with the repair company to actually do something. The arguing to get him batteries for his old chair so he could at least get out of bed. They took a month to get the part for the chair. In the meantime his old chair does not have the parts he needs to use his mouth stick to work on the computer or make phone calls. Those parts had been transferred to the chair he was in. Parts were missing to make it fit the old chair. He finally got back in his chair a few days ago. He can function again. He has used some of the money raised to get newer more updated equipment that will fit any chair he is in so he can use the computer and the phone. I could not leave him alone since he would not be able to call for help if he needed to.
He has been in a wheelchair for over 40 years and never has a motor gone out on his chairs. The government does not hold the companies to a certain standard like other countries do so they can make them as cheap as possible. Also, he gets his chair through Medicare now and they do not pay for high tech chairs like he needs, and Christopher Reeve needed. So he ends up with a cheaper version that is not strong enough or equipped to handle the technology he needs on the chair to drive it.
it is amazing, everyone talks about self driving cars but we won't fund technology to help people who need it.
Anyway...
I want to thank everyone who has participated in a good discussion here and who has passed this information around. Your help, your well wishes and each one of you isl greatly appreciated.
