Thanks Dandelion--he makes some excellent points related to key issues of war and peace and how the Clintons have now made the DEMs the Party of war and nuclear options rather than diplomacy and peace...and even formerly trustworthy media is now towing their party line with the neocon/neoliberal myths that hurt us all.

Sorry to say that this is old news,I have trained with US Navy Seals when I was in the Norwegian Navy and the US Military have stockpiles of military hardware in Norway almost since NATO was established. This is open news that have been reported on many times,I don't know if the US media have done so.

Old news perhaps in Europe Arild but isn't over in USA. So I do my best, as one human to get out the part of the news many are not hearing.

Messing with the bear, when it isn't necessary, is DANGEROUS. Indeed who is the aggressor here Animae. If we had Russian tanks pulling up on our border with Mexico what would we think?

Too bad that your "Lamestream" media are bought and paid by the oligarchs, you deserve better in the USA.
Don't worry so much about Russia and Putin,he's a well-informed person that calculated that he could get away with annexing Crimea and invade the eastern part of Ukraine, even shooting down a Malaysain civil airplane. He knew very well that he would be slapped with sanctions because the prize of NATO confronting him would be too high.In my opinion it's highly unlikely that Russian tanks will apear in Mexico even more unlikely that he would invade any NATO-Country.
Putin is a "battle-hardened" politician that started his carear in the KGB and have ambitions of rebuilding the former "Soviet Union",Trump is a CEO of a successful business company + a gameshow host and have ZERO geopolitical knowledge.Let's finish WWIII against terror before we even start to think of the "doomsday" cenário, let's start to eliminate the nukes before anyone get's to trigger-happy.
In my opinion it's more dangerous to stand up to China about these man-made islands in the South-Cina sea, imagine the cenário that China will use North Coreia to launch a nuclear attack on USA,not far fetched but also highly unlikely.
Let's pray and hope that cooler heads prevail.

The USA has never been a threat to Mexico. So if Russia sent troops in Mexico along the US borders it would obviously be a sign that they plan to invade us. But as this guy stated, Putin wants to restore Russia back to the glory of the Soviet Union. They invaded Georgia during the Bush Administration and they took over Crimea and invaded eastern Ukraine a couple years ago. No Rachel Maddow has not lost her mind. This guy is f****** crazy. Trump is a Putin puppet. Putin is going to use Trump by aligning with the USA as they invade Eastern Europe and take over country after country in order to oppress them back to the state and which they were when the USSR was in its full power. I for one am against that completely. My United States of America always stood for democracy and freedom throughout the world. We have stood by every nation that promotes these principles. Trump does not. Trump has delusions of grandeur where he will become an Almighty power throughout the entire world where the USA is aligned with Russia. Wake up and smell the coffee. The United States government has been usurped.

Sheryl G (359)
Tuesday January 24, 2017, 4:25 pm
I do not believe that Russian tanks will be in Mexico either it was a metaphor to explain how would Americans react "if" Russian troops showed up in Mexico at our border.

Well it's easy to see with Trump being all over the place, no one can truly know what he intends to do. But I've been getting a lot of my news from outside of the USA as well as some progressive sites, the few we do have, and I feel a lot of people are off track here. I also believe a fight with China in the way Trump speaks isn't in our best interest. Do we need to negotiate better trade deals, yes, but you don't start off by showing a disrespectful self and expect the others to say, why certainly, whatever you want.

Jeff Creech (64)
Tuesday January 24, 2017, 6:34 pm
Of course the idea of Russian troops in Mexico was a metaphor. I was just trying to explain why the u.s. sent troops to countries along the Russian border. They were sent to send a message of assurance that the US will defend them in case of a Russian invasion. This is a real threat. All these countries in Eastern Europe know that. Apparently truck has a different idea of what the United States responsibility is. It is not to defend freedom and democracy.

First to Jeff C,please adress me with using my name and not "this guy".

That is the problem Sheryl,Trump is all over the place and he is completely unpredictable. He have no political experience and you cannot run USA as you would a big company, there is no Chapter 11 if you bankrupt USA and he needs to learn to listen more than he tweets. To get other Countries to agree with you they need to see the agreement as a "win-win" situation, for both parties and the "Art of the Deal" is to be patient, build bridges in stead of walls. There is only so much he can do with executive orders,he cannot build a wall without the Congress' approval and any of his other campaign promises that involve spending US-money for special programs and changing the laws also have to go through the Congress first. If we ever get a true picture of what he wants to do and when he wants to do it we can react with different proposals and opinions,as things are now we are pretty much "flying blind".

I've seen no Trump presence on facebook, where "debates" an be quite toxic and the language very colorful, but his twitter presence is apparently significant.

As a person with ONLY experience in the property market business, he can only manage things as a businessman would, and I think that is one reason why he has requested the help of all these millionaires and billionaires on the presumption that "captains of industry" will have the best idea on how to run things from a Secretary to the President of the US perspective.

Granted, I also disagree hugely with most of his appointments AND SOME of his Executive Directives up till now (TPP, excellent, Dakota and Ketstone, BAD NEWS).

I just wonder how things are going to pan out, when he starts directing engaging with some of his counterparts in other countries, given his solid stance on "Make AMERICA Great Again" (Subtitle: at the expense, sometimes, of other countries")

This is his understanding of "dragging the swamp" Darren, surround yourself with people from Wall Street and the elite-class,also known as the 1%,that will say yes Mr President to almost anything he proposes.
I read an article in a Norwegian newspaper that concluded that business men have no clue of running a Country and this 35 billion wall on the Mexican border actually could benefit Mexico:

How Mexico could profit from Trump's wall

This "America first" will come back and bite his ass.

I wish the REAL story would be presented to the people of the USA why we have a so called "Mexican" issue to begin with. Let alone starting back when the southern land area was Mexico and was annexed into the USA a historical population of Mexicans have always lived in USA; in fact before the invasion from Spain many are of Indian heritage of their Nation.

As with the USA, people have migrated and married into the original inhabitants, such as the Spanish and Irish and others, so many of the people from Mexico are now of "mixed blood" or Mexicans. These ties are North American ties, and families going generations back have had contact with each other, marred, were connected in friendship and trade.

But the Greedy Heartless Ones can't leave well enough alone and so when NAFTA was placed in, and for all the Trump bashers, and he deserves it, but the stage was set for him to be where he is now. It was Bill Clinton a Democrat that actually signed in NAFTA. Now certainly this was something that the Republicans wanted, but Bill Clinton signed it in, he didn't have to. We may of gotten it anyway, under George Bush but the Democrats are hypocrites and too few of those on the "left" call out their own Party, just like many who support the "right" will not call them out. By doing so it has damned us all.

Once NAFTA got in, it destroyed jobs in Mexico as well as our jobs in the USA. The farmers in Mexico could no longer compete with Big Ag from the USA that could sell a tomato or whatever veggie it was for less. It was not a wealthy Nation to begin with so if someone could buy food cheaper they'll do so, but now Pedro couldn't support his family from his farm anymore, he in turn went over the border to look for work in USA.

That worked for awhile, but as US jobs started to leave to China, India, some to Mexico, and other places, the jobs the Mexicans were doing were now needed by US workers and so the resentment begins. Those employers who had hired the Mexicans also exploited them by paying them less than the standard wage so that wages stagnated and even lowered in certain jobs.

The only ones who made out on this deal with the 1% and the shareholders but the wage worker from both sides of the border has suffered. But instead of telling the "real story" our Greedy Heartless Ones in the US place the blame on the Mexicans or the indigenous of North America. So lets wall them off from us and as the wall is being built the 1% are preparing to steal the lands and mineral rights of the indigenous on this side of the wall. Federally Recognized Tribes Should Brace For Possible Termination

I would recommend that more Americans read the book "Grapes of Wrath" by John Steinbeck,it will give them an understanding of what the Great Depression brought you in the early 1930ies,at that time it was Americans went to California to find whatever work was available, picking lemons and oranges, working the land to grow vegetables and so on so fort. These jobs now are beneath the level of work that the Americans will do so in comes the Mexicans to work on these lands,it's a better option than what Mexico can offer to uneducated workers and bet that these Mexicans still believe in "The American Dream".
It's always different when you put these things into a perspective and please try to learn from it.
This why the Irish,Norwegians,Swedes,Danish,Germans,Italians and many more have come to the USA over the last 200 years, most of them got a better life and even Drumf is an immigrant.I want this populism/racism/fascism to get lost,it have NO place in our societies.

BRAKING NEWS: the Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto have cancelled his trip to meet with Trump, well done, there's no reason why he should come "hat in hand" to be told that he's no more than a slave to the Trump's great America.
We all need to stand up and fight for our rights!!!

Grapes of Wrath was required reading when I was growing up as was reading about the rise of the Unions. We had Civics Classes, this has all been removed. But please stop sounding like the right wingers when jobs are beneath Americans. That comment just made the hair on my arms stand up and smoke come out of my ears.

Most of those jobs Mexicans are working at now use to be done by Americans, but when the Employers in these establishments realized they could pay Mexican labor cheaper and they'd do it for that money they hired them and refused to hire Americans.

I recall how students in High School and College use to work in the apple orchards, use to work in summer resort motels, and all sorts of seasonal type jobs. Now the employers say, they can't find help so hire out in some areas it's Mexicans, other areas people from Jamaica, so on so forth. One can't hardly find a worker in some of these major Theme Parks from Florida.

Worker are from everywhere else. Come in on some visa a student visa learning the "hotel" industry. But they are being used for making beds, sweeping floors, clean the barnacles off the bottom of the little tour boats. They get paid less as they are not US citizen so minimum wage is not requirement and most other Nations have health care for their citizens so these Theme Parks don't have to worry on that like they need to do if they hired an American.

These Theme Parks build their own apartment complexes and put these foreign workers up into them at a low fee and then send a bus to the buildings to pick them up to bring them into the theme parks for their work shift. I could go on and on how it isn't that the American workers won't work these jobs they will NOT hire us to work those jobs.

The Mexican people dared not say anything about low wages if they catch on or risk being sent back to Mexico and even at low wage in the USA the money went further in Mexico so it kept their family in food back home and a roof over their head.

Also many labor laws are broken that an American citizen would be protected under, by hiring people from elsewhere these laws are overlooked. Most migrant workers do not know of these laws, and if they did, again dare not say for fear of being sent out. So the only ones who have made out is the Big Agri farms, the major hotels, business in general. The workers from other Nations are exploited and US workers are going into deeper poverty each year.

Our ancestors, those Swedes, Irish, Germans, Italians so on so forth you list did come here and worked off their butts, however, they also marched, fought, gave their lives many times to increase the wages to one of a "living wage" so their children could go to school and get out of the coal mines and the mills and get an education. Those workers obtained time off for rest, being sick, and safe working conditions, also stood up to clean our waters from having factories dump toxins into our rivers.

They worked DAMN hard to do all that and the Oligarchy here has chipped away at it in every direction they can think of. It isn't that Americans don't want certain jobs, we want jobs that don't place ones' life on the line by breathing in toxins, that pay more than starvation wages, that will allow our rivers to remain clean, that is IF they will even hire us. You all have far better conditions in most other Countries longer time off for vacations, having a baby, universal health care........

So please don't give that BS that we don't accept jobs beneath us.......I think we've been screwed over enough.
