Might be better for the people since the DEM party looks everywhere but their failures to listen to the people and instead put corporate interests before the people. Thanks Dandelion.

If the Democrat party cannot be reformed, the hell with 'em. Our country needs some fresh political blood. We desperately need real alternatives to GOP and GOP Lite. Libertarians are just another form of GOP Lite, and other "third parties" are shut out.

Brana makes a very important point, that our current electoral system shuts out non-establishment parties. I supported Sanders and voted for him in the primaries. As history shows, in the right circumstances a charismatic person can rouse and organize enough people to form a viable party. This is definitely the right time for a new party, one that actually represents Hoi Polloi.

I wish Nick Brana luck; but, I think he won't have much luck drafting Bernie into a new party. Bernie is an Independent; but, he is also a loyalist to the Democrats. Ralph Nader has reached out to him, Jill Stein has, as well. Bernie has never responded. But, if it is successfully launched, no matter who is at the helm, it will be just another third party. Third parties have not done well in national elections for a long time.

A good place for Nick Brana to start would be with reforming the Commission on Presidential Debates. If a candidate will be on the ballot in enough states that he or she could win the popular vote, then that candidate should be allowed into the debates. The CPD requires an arbitrary number for third party candidates of 15% in national polls. Where a candidate stands in the polls should not be required; because, polls can be manipulated to produce specific results.

If you watched the above video on the YouTube site, take a look at one of the comments. It is submitted by a viewer with the name of "illyounotme." This viewer's comment is five paragraphs long, so you would need to click on Show more. It is an excellent response to the Redacted Tonight video. I agree with what this viewer wrote. If you are progressive, I suggest supporting the Green Party.

Nick is not exactly legitimate in how he dismisses Greens. Ralph Nader injected millions of disenfranchised progressives into the Green party. This helped grow the Greens to what they are today, and helped give them more name recognition. It just wasn't enough to break the duopoly strangle hold.

Rather than create a new party under Bernie, the much smarter move would be to convince Bernie to join the Greens. To get Bernie to advocate for the Green party and help expand this existing party who has already laid the ground work, has party members in smaller offices, has ballot access, has name recognition.

All that would happen if Bernie lead a new party created under him, is you would see massive challenges and a lack of ability to compete. Especially since it would end up splitting the progressive vote between Greens and this new hypothetical party.

When Lincoln broke from the Whigs, there was not the media strangle hold there is today. That era did not have the debate access block either. Trying to compare it to that time is pointless other than showing that indeed a failed party can be replaced. But it does not show that Bernie could succeed where the Greens have not. The reality is a new party would weaken the progressive movement not strengthen it.

Yes progressives need to give up the ghost of the Democratic party. But not go making a new party, but instead look to the party who have been growing the progressive cause for decades. The Green party is where progressives have been going long before Bernie ran for POTUS, it would be a shame to work against the Greens and the progressives who left the Democrats decades before this election.

Hopefully. You need another option than the one that you were faced with.

I left the Democratic Party on November 9th. I won't go back to it because they )Schumer, Pelosi, Heitkamp, et al ) are NOT listening to the people and will not...they are owned by the Fascist Corporations and the obscenely rich just like their Fascist Nazi counterparts. The people are waking up and LEAVING the party. I hope Bernie DOES start a new party because it will automatically have millions of members in it's first official moments. Think THAT won't wake up the sellout Party? It will.
