Turned my stomach watching the video with how proud she sounded as she said it, too. Thanks Dandelion.

The headline says it all-loud and clear. Most Republicans do not support a living wage because it is an issue that affects them very little. Their attitude is as long as I'm fine I will continue to help myself to a bigger piece of the pie and try my best to destroy the working class and the poorest of the poor. I hope this candidate loses in a landslide!

I placed both her stance on minimum wage and her stance on Planned Parenthood. I just love how they don't want a "living wage" but at the same time while they are "trying" to implement their plan, they remove all the programs that help those who are not working for a "living" wage.

Is all fine and well to stand on that stage if you know where your next meal is coming from that you'll have a roof to sleep under. One can wait for those "higher paying jobs" that will "maybe" be created, that is if the business owner does not suck up all the profit and pay the help whatever the lowest allowed wage is. I am certain if that was was $1 an hour there would be people expected to work for that - and be told it was a privilege to have that job.

He is correct, begin the process of raising the minimum wage with increments to allow for adjustments to the business owners which they should not have a hard time raising the minimum wage. Because studies have been shown, if people are paid enough to not only meet their basics that if they have a little extra it will be spent in the communities. Therefore the business owners will sell more when there are more people able to shop at their establishments.

It seems blatantly obvious to me that if the millions scraping their way through life actually had a "living wage" for "normal" working hours, they & their families would have more time, they would spend what they NEED to spend (with a little left over for "specials"), local small businesses would earn more because people are able to spend .... even 1$ more spent by thousands of families adds up to $ thousands more being earnt! So the economy can pick up ...

And the initial underwriting could come from a part of that budget item of "tax relief" - if it were shifted from those who want but don't NEED it, to those who DO need it "to prime the pump".

I also think that it is a humane stance to take, that if you are working 40 hours or more a week one should be able to eat, have a roof over the head, and medical care at the very least. If they have children the ability to buy clothes for their growing bodies, be able to keep the utilities on, and pay for transportation costs to get to work, school, groceries, and Doctors.

To expect people to work daily, week after week and to be in poverty, to be going hungry, to be homeless is cruel, it isn't what the USA or any Nation should find acceptable. She doesn't deserve to be elected she should go hang her head in shame.

This woman doesn't give a damn about people who are unable to earn enough through their hard work even to just get by. She recites her moldy talking point about businesses being overtaxed and overregulated, and how they could create a bonanza of jobs if only we would allow their greed a full rein. Conservatives repeat this crap endlessly, and it's an insult to our intelligence.

Unfortunately it's worked upon too many people. Thankfully more people are seeing otherwise and speaking out to it.

noted shared - every single human being has the right to make a livable wage, so that they can survive, and put food on the table, pay their bills, and have a roof over their heads. Handel is insane, and has no heart! I wish she was in the position of the people who have to live this way! ty

Animae, I was thinking of that very same descriptor!
She seems like a heartless, hypocritical, standard Repiglican! She, they, does/do not want less regulation for the sake of small businesses, but for the sake of corporate America!

Some of them, and they wouldn't be so bold to say so, would most likely be happy going back to slavery. No minimum wage is needed with that.

5.15$ an hour is very close to slavery.

Sure is, when a gallon of milk costing that much, $5.15 doesn't allow you to rent anywhere that provides a roof over the head.

She won......Democrats best get a better game plan going. One of the reasons he might not have pulled in the people needed is he was not for Universal Health Care. We need to pull truly to the Left and just be BOLD in a Party Stance. Center left is not cutting it.

I'm increasingly wondering if the Democrat Party isn't already dead, just zombie-like unaware that they're being buried by their walking zombies

lol.....I think you have that one. There is a push right now to try to get Nancy Pelosi out of the way. She made the majority of her money after the crash of 2008. She is a multi- millionaire, one of the more well to do in the House. She needs to go on a nice long vacation that requires she retires to do it. She has no idea what we are going through in the trenches, she can't put two words together without stumbling over them, she is either tired or has some ailment or both, so please Nancy, let someone with a futuristic vision take the helm now - go enjoy your money and stop standing in the way of helping us. Because you are NOT at all helping!
