of all Democratic candidates running, Bernie Sanders has the best chance of capturing Republican votes. I've seen how Bernie does this, up close & personal. Despite a reputation as a place filled with liberal hippies, Vermont has many Conservative voters

Why is Bernie Sanders, a socialist, so popular with people who should hate "socialism?"

The answer is pretty simple.

While Americans disagree on social issues like gay marriage and abortion, they're actually pretty unified on the bread and butter economic issues that Bernie has made the core of his campaign.

In fact, a recent poll by the Progressive Change Institute, shows that Americans overwhelmingly agree with Bernie on key issues like education, health care and the economy.

Like Bernie, 75 percent of Americans poll support fair trade that "protects workers, the environment and jobs."

Seventy-one percent support giving all students access to a debt-free college education.

Seventy-one percent support a massive infrastructure spending program aimed at rebuilding our broken roads and bridges, and putting people back to work.

Seventy percent support expanding Social Security.

Fifty-nine percent support raising taxes on the wealthy so that millionaires pay the same amount in taxes as they did during the Reagan administration.

Fifty-eight percent support breaking up the big banks.

Fifty-five percent support a financial transaction or Robin Hood tax.

Fifty-one percent support single payer health care, and so and so on.

Pretty impressive, right?

And here's the thing - supporting Social Security, free college, breaking up the big banks, aren't "progressive" policies, they're just common sense, and 60 years ago they would have put Bernie Sanders smack dab in the mainstream of my father's Republican Party.

It would be a HOOT, if, in all those districts that Rethuglicans think they have sewed up for themselves, thru GERRYMANDERING - if even in THOSE districts, Rethuglicans and Conservatives broke out and voted for BERNIE!!!
[Hillary would never have the same effect!]

That would be funny BM .
Angelika: Yes Hillary seems to be a little off lately. I'm sure she thought it would be a breeze to The White House. She's been a tad shrill lately.
Thank you for posting BM

In one comment to an article about Bernie Sanders, a person said they were from Missouri, and had seen cars with formerly Tea Party bumperstickers, now having Bernie bumperstickers!

We KNOW the Tea Party was set up on purpose to FOOL PEOPLE who were "sick of the Establishment". To DIVERT that potential anger...
NOW, if people are actually being UNDECEIVED....!!!!!
Bernie could snag those UNDECEIVED Votes - again, Hillary could NEVER do that, or any OTHER Dem...

Count me OUT -----I don't like SANDERS at all ----after closer investigation of what HE's all about. Regardless of the MALE MEDIA hype---- Hillary Clinton still has a commanding lead over Bernie Sanders nationwide, and beats Republicans in head-to-head match-ups nationwide.

Sanders these decades is also a militant Jew, and a darling of AIPAC and the right-wing Likud government of Israel

Recent past-----Sanders hung the Soviet flag in his mayoral office in Burlington Vt-- - maybe he should have immigrated to the Soviet Union while it existed....as such. We would be better off. Sanders isn’t the only radical U.S. politician to have a weakness for Communist dictatorships ----but the Soviet city of Yaroslavl, 160 miles northeast of Moscow. ......when in 1988 he married his 2nd wife, Jane, the mayor Sanders decided it would be a perfect place for his honeymoon.and there is a tape of his interview .

For good reason in presidential elections ----GORE----Bill Clinton ---OBAMA nor KERRY .....never selected Bernie to be VP or on their team in any position at all. .....He's not a democrat and endorses the republicans at times. .

.Sanders is an excellent campaigner having been doing this for decades---and people who haven't paid attention to politics suddenly believe he invented all the stuff he talks about that other democrats have had on their agenda for decades.

Bernie Sanders loves to rail against Corporate America, Wall Street, and the super-rich, but he has nothing to show for it, and had done nothing to constrain their power and influence.

Personal---life----was married for a couple years---divorced----Lived with a woman and had a son with her---then he met his 2nd wife Jane---and Documents that show that the loans were fraudulent she obtained for the college she was President of---she virtually resigned thereafter with $200,000 severance pay. Unless Bernie can FIX the problem she could face jail-time. SHHHH the MALE media doesn't talk about it

Then the women who criticize TRUMP for his remarks about "women" should read the essay about what Bernie thinks about women liking to be raped and beaten----and it wasn't the PEN that wrote it---it was his brain.......and he won't TALK about women in his campaigning cause he doesn't want this brought up.

He won't talk about GUNs either---cause he voted against background checks and most recently voted against allowing the families of the 20 kids slaughtered because of the bill he said NAY to---- the families cannot sue the gun manufactureers.

GO AHEAD DONATE TO BERNIE it stays all in the family-----his step daughter and his 2nd wife Jane are paid out of donations to work on his campaign according to the Fed election commission.

Read more at: http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/420228/bernie-sanderss-soviet-honeymoon-john-fund He dididn't invent the stuff he says---but the ones who never paid attention before believe he did.....it's what other democrats have said for decades.......

Vermont Gov. Peter Shumlin endorsed Hillary Clinton for president i.e...the ones who know him best ----not the myth that the uninformed believe.

Maybe they're voting for Bernie because he has common sense and so do they?

If a politician shows he is honest, independent, and cares about his constituents rights and needs, he doesn't need labels.

Run, Bernie, run!
