Synthetic Marijuana Is A Public Health Disaster. Legalizing The Real Thing Would Be Safer.

Across the country, people are dying from using untested, dangerous drugs that attempt to mimic marijuana. Ironically, thereâEUR(TM)s evidence that the public health emergency is being fueled specifically by the ongoing criminalization of real marijuana.

Although I don't use marijuana I do believe it should be legalized; decriminalized; strictly regulated and taxes appropriately. The environmental damage done due to illegal grow ops not to mention the toxic soup that a house becomes when growing is unregulated is costly to all of us. I also think that anyone who was busted for possession or non violent crimes should be pardoned. No white collar criminals need not apply.
There is no substitute for the real thing. This is just another chem company or corporation trying to make large bucks as usual off the suffering of others.

It's absurd! Make marijuana use LEGAL....make growth for personal use LEGAL.

It's a PLANT, people....not a dangerous, compound synthetic drug!

Not that I'd ever use it. I'd rather see people using the real plant rather than the fake synthetic drug. Thanks Kathy

Noted. Thanks, Kathy.

Yes, that chemical "Spice" stuff is toxic and should be banned everywhere. Hope remains to get cannabis off Schedule 1. Right after that, I also hope Obama releases all non-violent drug offenders. Then, he needs a Big Money bill to fund infrastructure and put people to work.
People should not be charged with any crime for growing the plants either; although there should probably be a maximum allowable. Cannabis should be freely given to cancer patients and those in medical need. Big Pharma is going to push back hard on this one, though. Then, the mask will fall and people will see the truth.

sorry Lois , but to have a "big money bill to fund anything you have to have a government that works , and this one is so badly broken nothing it may do will work . natural Mary Jane causes no problems , but it's like any thing use it to excess and it can cause problems .and it's easy to see those people who say it shouldn't be allowed , have never had a loved one in dire str8s . if it helps then allow it .why paint everyone with the same brush .controlled and used properly it works .

The fact that this man had to come up with a synthetic for research purposes is ridiculous. How useful would the results be anyway, as it is chemically different?

There are so many trials and studies available on cannabis use already, why reinvent the wheel? Legalise it, but maybe don't allow the high THC varieties - the ones that get you really high. And hurry up with the medical cannabis!

From a few of the above comments I see that , unfortunately, there are still too many people who are uninformed/misinformed about the aspects/positives of cannabis use ...for medical as well as recreational purpose.

There have recently been excellent 'mainstream network' Tv / News / Documentries aired...There are all kinds of internet sites on the topic but there are still those who haven't a clue as to the multipule positive sides...from medical uses to the point of 'cures'for many illnesses, and on to positive sides of recreational use.

Below this paragraph there are the links to a recent CNN Series on the topic. I advise all those who posted 'negative' or uneducated comments above to view these a.s.ap. as you very health may depend on it...and all others to view them in order to become even more informed on the topic.

You can also go to YouTube site and type in:
''CNN - WEED 1 - A Dr Sanjay Gupta Documentary ".
Once that page opens watch the first one and then look to the column to the right of the video player for 'Weed 2' and other videos on the topic.

"Weed" is nothing like alcohol, which it is too often compared to. It's not something you can over dose on and has no side effects for either use. Euphoria ,the ability to focus with more clarity than usual, and or just feeling very peaceful and relaxed.. are the two most common 'mental effects' of cannabis consumption....aka.. 'being stoned' or 'high'...that's it.

People don't 'use' cannabis to mask the negatives in life as many alcohol and pharmacy prescription users do, but instead 'pot' users do so to 'enhance' the positives/pleasures in their lives...Not to dull ones senses, as with alcohol and or 'pills'. a life, perhaps even that of yourself when it comes to cannabis medical uses...don't wait to use, do so now if you have health issues. does not cause any does the opposite even if one waits until ''the end of their life'' which they might have saved if they had found out the facts instead of waiting until the last minute, so to say.

Make healthier and safer choices when it comes to Party/ so via cannabis over that of 'pills' and or alcohol.:;)

Puffpuffpass.............. :-) Jae

Well, I was addicted to the shit (mostly hasch) for more than 25 years. So, I don't know if it's for me to say...? However, it's been 24 years since I was stoned, or high on any kind of drugs. I was addicted to alcohol as well for about 30 years BTW. In fact I'm ambivalent, but if alcohol is legal, why not legalize cannabis...?
