Recent headlines have purported that organic farming is worse for the climate than conventional farming. This claim is based on a scientific study recently published in the journal Nature, titled "Assessing the Efficiency of Changes in Land Use for..."

Meat is the worst for contribution to global climate change!

A cow on overage release between 70 & 120 kg of Methane per year.
Methane is a greenhouse gas like carbon dioxide (CO2).
But the negative effect on the climate of Methane is 23 times higher than the effect of CO2.
Therefore the release of about 100 kg Methane per year for each cow is equivalent to about 2'300 kg CO2 per year!!

1 kg of meat from beef produces - 34.6 kg CO2e
1 kg of meat from lamb produces - 17.4 kg CO2e
1 kg of meat from pork produces - 6.35 kg CO2e
1 kg of meat from chicken produces - 4.57 kg CO2e

Thanks Kathy, i so agree with Animae, - and what about all the poisoning that has happened re "weed killers," which have been used to protect crops ? -killing off natural habitat, that helps the ecosystem .
Organic is the only way forward, xxxxxxxx noted & shared by the way

Organic does not use chemicals that would cause more damage to the earth and possibly the climate.

Thank you for this insightful article. I believe the detrimental mpact of the insecticides and pesticides
used in conventional farming far out weighs the other factors. They are toxic for the environment, the creatures including us humans, and sacred water. It takes seven years to bring the soil back to balance when switching to organic farming. Even then the toxins are not fully purged from the earth.
Consider what that means for our bodies when we ingest that.
