There is nothing kind about starvation. I am shamed that a Harvard Professor could say such a vile thing and even more ashamed that the Weatherhead Center would defend him!

A very wrong attitude and mode of thinking. While we do indeed need to lower the birthrate worldwide to a sustainable level, I don't see that the remark was made in that light. Freedom of speech requires that this gentleman have the right to say what he did - and freedom of speech also allows him to be justifiably criticized.
