Muslim Americans are not part of the terrorism problem facing the U.S. -- they are part of the solution, a top White House official said Sunday at a Washington-area mosque.

How can the problem be a solution when religions are the biggest problem and trouble makers the world over..not just that of the Muslim one. Various religions are ued worldwide to bring about wars,hate,division...violence in general... They are easily lead by the crazies that make it to power postions. History has show this to be fact over and over again ..Will humans ever learn? I doubt it.

Lets not put all blame on Religion,,, have been really good at killing religious folks of all kinds. Think Stalin, Lenin, Pol Pot, Mussolini Milosevic, Kim Il-Sung why Chairman Mao alone killed over 70 million people. My Mom can remember all those folks just in her lifetime.
No lets put the blame where it actually lies, on greed selfish evil people... men who neither God nor honour, they care nothing for anything but power or wealth. If we become two teams the Religious folks and the Atheists folks we are splitting our power in half.. we must stand united against evil men, not religous men, atheist men, because lets face it a terrorist who would blow up children is not a religious person,, for God says Thou Shalt Not Kill ,..its one of his commandments and you can not be a child of Gods if you do not follow his Laws.
I love Atheists, my children are not believers but they are good people, I am a believer and I would not harm even a mouse.. but SOME religous folks and SOME atheists are evil rotten to the core and need to be dragged to justice.
Some folks think if religion fell it would be a great thing, they will not think so then they realize just how many folks are fed by churches. Mine alone has a program that gives children breakfast. We can no longer support the food banks as we are too small now. And this is coming at time when folks will need it the most, even the Salvation Army if not able to do the things it once could. I once lived in an abandoned car and they found me a home, I was not religious then but now I see where religion entered my life without me reallly thinking about it,, and I see it today as missionarys must leave children and schools behind in other countries as money falls away. It scares the heck out of me.. who will take its place? We were once a strong force for good .. now we are a shadow of our former selves.. and who is suffering,, The poor of course.

What can I say? I live in the UK. Muslim culture has eroded our heritage, and many would say this is part of the problem. Its difficult to accept that which degrades what has taken centuries to build.

Muslims are human beings. What is so hard to understand about that?

Morris G. (18)

I certainly believe that Muslims are human beings. That is not the problem. Too many Muslims don't believe I (or you) am a human being - that is unless we convert to Islam. That is the problem.

I have never met a Muslim who tried to convert me, and the ones I know are friendly, loving and kind... treat me very well. I am more afraid of the homegrown religious fanatics who spew hate and killing much more than I'm afriad of the peace lovng Muslims.

Two issues with what most of you are saying. The people are not the problem. The people do not wage war, they do not crush economies, they do not commit genocide or bomb countries. The people do not imprison, they don't exploit, they don't give direction and definition, the people live. That's all. It's the ruling classes that do all of these things TO the people. When the people are tired, sick, hungry, and defined they become confused. In an imbalanced state of definition and direction they flock to certain fears to alienate and hate others that are pushed to do the same thing. "I'm not hateful its them who are such", "I'm not the problem they are the problem", "That's just the way it is because I was told so, it must be true." Do you think that the heads of state, corporations, and religions care about those definitions within themselves. No! They lie, cheat, abuse, manipulate, and cast fear all at the very contradictions of what they say defines them, to just simply impose definition on you. The Pope, the Leader of the Catholic church turns a blind eye to hate, torture, and molestation because he doesn't uphold his definition of a "Christian" he just wants you to. The CEO will exploit economies, cheat regulation, and poison his consumers while at the same time not even purchasing his own products to which he instills into everyone for the simple trait of consumer loyalty. "I'm a Chevy guy so Damn the Ford people!" The heads of state war, toil, and oppress the very people that they ask to stay true to their country while their actions prove to be the exact opposite of that which they demand. "Love your country, because your country loves you, now fight, die, pay, while I go take a nap" And the same thing can be said about every Religion, State, and Corporation when you just get over looking at the bottom in hate and look up to the top with open eyes and an open heart. The real problem is, with so much direction based on definition it has slowed the humanity of the people. They get confused at what defines them within this world and are to sick to see and feel that the truth is that we are all just one, the only one.
Knowledge is Power. Truth is Love. Don't be Afraid.

Well, not that I'm a big fan of religions, and totally aware of the fact that different relogions have caused far too many deads in history, but this step forward can only be welcomed. Until futher notice religions are a fact, they exsist, and they create a comunity-feeling.

It's a good thing that the american government accepts the muslim community in this way, instead of pushing them in the dark & shadow, treating them like terrorists, as has been done in a certain recent past.

In fact, it's not that much the religions that make casualties, but the -often self-proclamed- leaders in the religion-based communities that abuse of their power -so called given by god- to make their followers -all or just some of them- do horid things, remember the Inquisition and the Crusades, and more recently the Muslim attacks.

Most believers -christian, muslim, jew, hindu or whatever- just want to live a peacefull and quiet life, and are no terrorists.

We all are together on this small planet, and given the circumstances, we should not fight eachother, but cooperate.

There are screaming white extremist on the F_word church proselytizing and spewing hate and violence.
I believe that crazy kid that shot Gabby in Tucson was confused by these people. There are extremist on both sides but the Faux ones are given carte blanche to make up their own facts and get people fired up with violence against muslims and mexicans. The F_word network is no news at all and what the President did today put him in more of harms way if that is possible. Thank you President Obama. I like you when you stand up for others.

There is no point in lumping all Muslims together. Moderate and peaceful Muslims are great members of our society. Jihadists are a great danger to our society and to our life style, and a danger to the moderate Muslims as well - because they are in fact a part of the civilized society. As long the the distinction is made, it all makes sense. If it is not - it doesn't.

Ignoring dangers facing democracies is not the best way to build safe and prosperous future.

Noted...Rep. King is a racist Moron...Since the end of World War II for some reason our Country has needed, Boogie Men, to use as our enemies...First it was the Soviet Union, who were the bad guys, and now it's the Muslims...First it was McCarthy, adn his Witch hunts, now we got guys like King, and Beck, and Limbaugh fanning the flames of fear and hatred against Muslims...But time has shown, that America isn't the good guys in white hats, they say they are...I'm sure those on teh right, and the likes of Beck and Palin, and Bachmann will certainly use their paranoid fears to bash President Obama for this...They got to keep the hatred going, so this will give them pleanty of ammo, to use in their words, to the wing nuts they count as their know, the "Real Americans"...

Yes, but to try to get the right-wingers to accept it would be fruitless, since it is common sense, something that is beyond their comprehension.

Some American Muslims must be a threat, or why have there been so many ties from American Muslims to the middle eastern terrorists? I wouldn't say all Muslims are terrorist, or that there are not other threats. But one must recognize a problems to be able to resolve it. And that means including them into our way of life rather than keeping the vast majority separated and treated like 2nd class citizens.

I have several muslim friends (I was raised in Iran) not one tried to convert me.. But wait!! Didn't we have the same issues with the catholics!! We haven't finished with that issue yet, maybe we had better get it right before we attack another religion.

"The White House is pushing a message of religious tolerance"
Obama cancelled the National Day of Prayer, while on the same day allowed Muslims to pray outside of the White House.
Obama has met with known terrorists in private meetings.
I read an article that there is still a lot of prejudice towards the Jews. The amount of prejudice towards Muslims isn't even one quarter in comparison.
When is a Muslim deemed a terrorist? When he commits a violent act, or is caught preparing for a violent attack. Up until that point he was a very nice person functioning just like someone else.
Obama is working with his own agenda.

CollieGirl: You must be kidding or you're a bigger threat to this country than a terrorist. "Obama has met with known terrorists in private meetings"?????? How do you know, were you there?? Your brain is filled with Fox spewing their hatred, racism, bigotry, and any form of divisiveness. I'll take President Obama's agenda any day over yours or Fox or greedy, misguided teabaggers.
