Thank Your Body
Upon waking up one morning, I found myself baffled by my complexion and body-type. I am an average weight, average height, young woman with a slightly tan and clear complexion. I was mesmerized by how healthy I looked. I couldn't explain why I had been blessed with the gift of health (probably genetics or healthy eating or something like that) but I was thankful, nevertheless.
If you're reading this, low self-esteem or not, woman or man, take time (right now) to find one thing about yourself that you love (or, at the very least, like a little) and thank whomever you'd like for that gift (God, Goddess, mother, father, yourself, life, Mother Nature, whomever!). Now, if you can appreciate even the smallest fragment of your iris, you can slowly learn to appreciate the rest of your body. Gratitude goes a long way.
This is a group that I created in hopes of spreading self-esteem and appreciation of one's self. I have a philosophy that revolves around a "one life; one chance" mentality. I was born with this body, I was born with this life, I want to make the best of what I have. Now, I have several friends who cannot grasp this concept because they are so filled with media-fed self hate. They (among other friends) are the inspiration for creating this group. I hope to support all of the "I have fat thighs", "I have a small penis", "My shoulders are too wide", "I'm too short", "I'm too tall" people out there that have yet to discover the true beauty of their body.
I would really appreciate it if everyone were to be respectful of one another and that we all be supportive. I understand that it can be frustrating dealing with someone who cannot see what you see when you look at them through your one-of-a-kind eyes, but patience is important. I trust that all of you will be kind and considerate to one another. Thank you so much for all of your support!
