Keeping yourself safe in bear country!Rogue:
Unusual beavior and extreme aggression.
Make a lot of noise when hiking or traveling in Bear country.
Don't hike or travel alone.
Most bear attacks are from "startled" bears, don't sneak up on a bear, make it known that you are around!
When siteing bears in a 'park' make sure to listen to the Park Rangers and stay as far away as the ranger tells you too, remember bears are unpredicatable!
DO NOT RUN FROM A BEAR! This triggers the predator instinct and they will give chase. Fact: Bears run 30+ miles an hour!
Never keep food around your campsite, bears have a great sense of smell.
Use bear safe garbage cans, keep a clean camp wash grills, pans, ect.
Don't climb up a tree, this isn't cat and mouse!
Speak to the bear in a clear soft soothing voice so the bear will identify you as a human and not its favorite food!
