Invisible Youth @ Chicago
In partnership with Jamal Place.
Jamal Place is a agency that runs a group home for young men who are wards of the state. They had a need and did not have the funding to get this program started, and the staff to run something like this on their own. So, this is where the Chicago Chapter comes in, I said that I would startup this program, needed no funds as long as they are willing to open their doors to me to come in with volunteers and be of service to this group of “at-risk” young men.
I am hoping that when they see the value of the Chicago Chapter working with them, that they will be open to more ideas.
Also, I am in talks with a local church plant that has an awesome vision, and they are excited to have me join them. I have another meeting on February 1st to see where IYN fits in and see what we can do together.
It’s all about partnerships! They expressed an interest in doing street outreach, so that might be the next project that takes off! Also, Tutoring and Mentoring as well. The area served by the church is an area in great need, poverty, homelessness, gang violence, child and domestic abuse are rampant.
I am asking that Jamal Place be mentioned in the IYN website as a partner so that everyone can see that IYN is moving forward.
The church plant Covenant Community Church (C3) has great vision and plans, see their website:
Covenant Community Church (C3)
I am expecting to have something put firmly in place with C3 and go forward!
Right now I am going to recruit volunteers for the Tutoring and Mentoring Program, and am finalizing a training and orientation program for the volunteers.
I am currently undergoing DCFS background check and have completed the DCFS Mandated Reporter Training and have received my certificate from DCFS.
Jamal Place is paying for the background checks and I will conducting the training and orientation either at their site or at some free library room rental. Have not figured that out as yet, but I am working on it.
So I am busy….actually someone told me to not to say busy…but FRUITFUL!
So I am going to continue to be FRUITFUL and move forward.
