{ else }   Blog: THE TOWN NEXT DOOR~TEARING DOWN HOMES~

When a city or town decides they are going to clean their; "Community!!!!" I always become leary. Take for instance the town next door, or twelve miles from here. They decided to tear down all the old homes; and apartments to make their community look nice.

They did not take into account all the people that were left without cheap homes to live in. Most of these people either moved to larger communities; or, to the small villages surrounding our neighbor. And this placed untold hardships on those people; in terms of moving expenses, lack of services and higher expenses in terms of traveling to buy groceries and other neccesities.  We eventually began repeating the phrases whoops; there goes another apartment building, whoops; there goes another house.

When a community makes plans to clean their community; it is a wise and prudent step to plan to rebuild and replace that which has been torn down. Not only is it wise; but it also shows that your community has intergrity to rebuild that which was torn down. It is a sound and solid concept.

It is the same anywhere; if you plan to tear down old houses, than it is an absolute necessity to rebuild new houses, replace old apartment buildings torn down with new apartment buildings, and to have a completed plan of action that will follow ethical critia. It goes like this; replace, rebuild, and recreate, with the purpose of making a plan that is a compassionate solution to all people, and not just some people. When you do this; you have created a solid, and firm foundation. All other incomplete and inhumane plans are building your plans on sinking sand.

{ else }   Blog: TWO DANGEROUS BRIDGES IN McCOOK, NEBRASKA~

TWO DANGEROUS BRIDGES IN McCOOK, NEBRASKA~

There are two dangerous bridges in McCook. One of them is the bridge which leads to the Cedar Inn.  They cover the deep; and eroding cracks, in their columns and undersupport, with cement, the way you cover cracks  in a cake with icing. I created a make over bridge to show what they could do instead. The other bridge is also eroding, and the same solution is used. The only thing is this is a railroad bridge with an underpass and eroding columns which support the railroad bridge. Some day a disaster will happen, people will be hurt, and it will than be too late. People; you could pray about this. I do not want to say I told you so.

Another dangerous area is the Barnet Park and their ponds. The ponds have dangerous bacteria growning in them and even worse, one man has died for a certainy because he was trying to save his dogs when they fell through the ice. The man who fell through that ice was Senator Ben Nelson's assisstant. A good family man who was going to help the communities in Western Nebraska. But unfortunately his life was cut short; because there are no safety fences surrounding the ponds in the winter, no signs posted, stating that the ice is thin and not safe, and there was no way he could make it back up and out when he fell though to his icy death. I also fell through the ice trying to rescue my dog. By the grace of God, I was rescued, and it was by the grace of God. After that I walked my dog elsewhere. But like one McCook Gazetter reader commented, "The next time it might be someone's small child!"

{ else }   Blog: VILLAGES/COMMUNITY IN RED WILLOW COUNTY~

VILLAGES/COMMUNITIES IN RED WILLOW COUNTY~

In Red Willow County; our villages and one small city are all losing population. Thus we have lost our services, and our businesses. Letting in a super Wal-Mart probably wasn't a good idea at the time, because all the smaller businesses and grocery stores; who could not compete, began to die off. Our factories began closing down because of the economy and thus we began to lose population big time. They put an interstate by North Platte which also did in our communities in. People shop along the interstate and we do not get as much business, although highway 6/34 does help some.

McCook gained some population because the people in our villages moved to our small city, but it only emptied out our villages, and didn't help our small city much. Our smallest village; on highway 89,  is not even on all the maps anymore. The name of the village is Marion. The next village on highway 89 is Danbury, which is just down the highway east of Marion,  and Lebanon is the last village on highway 89; in Red Willow County. On highway six, Bartly is maintaining a steady but very small population, and does not grow. Indianola grew for awhile, but now is losing population again. Indianola used to have a grocery store, a laundromat, and was a little town with a booming business. Now it has a bank, post office, two bars, a hardware and furniture store and a convenience store. All other businesses have closed down.

Another reason people are moving out is because of the poor quality of water. This area has dangerous chemicals such uranium in the water. One of the culprets is Corn Belt Chemical and pollution, although the uranium is a natural occurance and I am not sure what can be done about it. Uranium causes nervous disorders, memory loss, and perhaps cancer. Wal-Mart will eventually leave when the city of McCook loses enough of it's population. That could be good if the smaller businesses can manage to make a come back.

{ else }   Blog: My Village~Part Two~
MY VILLAGE ~ PART TWO~
Now bare in mind that I am not just aimlessly criticizing. I want my village to be pleasant to live in  and to be a Christian example to others. I also want bars to be replaced with a grocery store, nice restraurant and a laundromat. These businesses we really do need. I have to live here also; and there are children in this village who are watching the examples of adults.  Those children are enough of a reason for the village to straighten up. I love dogs and for exercise there is land all over and all around that could be bought and landscaped and have a nice tall security fence around it where the villagers could take their dogs to run free ~safely and humanely.
Why not? Why~Greed! No one wants to spend the money to make these things happen; and selfish pride, no one wants to give in and admit that there is a better way, and finally, they do not have Agape Love because they do not know Jesus. Without Jesus in their lives they will never understand what life is supposed to be about.
As of now, my village is a landmine for missionaries to tread carefully on and a disasterin the making.
So what am I supposed to do? I will continue to ask for help for the starving dogs in Indianola, and especially the dog who is a visiter to our little convenience store. I will also voice concern for dogs who are left to rot in backyard pens or tied to porches in a poor state of being, and very unhealthy.
I will continue to pray and I will continue to ask Jesus to help me to forgive, but not to condone the attitudes and behavior of the people in my village. And I will ask for your help and your prayers. I also will ask for your prayers that I finally am able to sleep because I have ill health and seeing that poor dog starving and freezing has been extremely stressful for me; and is a determent to my health.
This village is my home and I can no longer keep quiet about what is going on. I just can not do it. I need your help and your prayers despretely for a drastic and major change in this village, and I need you to pray for a revival in this village and a pentecostal church in my village. I need you to pray that the bars be replace by a grocery store, a cafe, a laundromat, and a nice fenced in dog park; open to eveyone. I need you to pray that the adult staff at the animal shelter be replaced and that there is real effective change in my village. And I ask that you be in agreement with me in prayer and in Jesus name, claiming the Blood of the Lamb.
Finally; I ask that we forgive these people for their twisted way of thinking and that they recieve Salvation through Jesus, our Lord and Savior, and the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, and truly are transformed, so that they are walking in the Light of the Lord! God Bless,
Donna
