The main reasons children like Bibi and Daisy don’t attend school are the lack of extra money for shoes, required school supplies and uniforms as well as the fact that there is often no transportation for them to travel to their school. In the case of Bibi and Daisy, their school is 3 kilometers (nearly 2 miles) from their home and of course their family owns no vehicle of any kind.
These girls live on the island of Mindanao, a farming region of the Philippines. Even though they are school aged, they haven’t attended the public school for months. Their dad, Panyo works hard as a farm laborer.
But like over half of the population of his country, he earns less than $1 per day. And even though families like Panyo’s can overcome surviving on poverty wages, and the lack of potable water and electricity in their homes, the little extra cash it takes to keep their children in school is just beyond their means.
Our group’s aim is to accept donations of money and supplies for children in the municipality of Libona in the Province of Bukidnon on Mindanao Island in the Philippines to help these children attend school regularly and enhance their prospects in life. We encourage you to make a donation of whatever you can to help in this cause. Our group’s administration expenses are almost nothing so that donations are almost entirely applied to the aim of helping the needy children of this area. You are encouraged to donate in whatever way that you can and you can see that any small amount is very helpful. For monetary donations please visit pledgie.com
For donations of school supplies, please contact the Host of this group, Charles H, for arrangements.
