There has been extremely little use of our site. Should we keep the site open or close it? Your opinion matters. Please let us know. I've become very busy and if there is not going to activity on this site, I'd just as soon drop it.
My name is Jacob McCord, and I am 28 years old. I have been living in Houston, TX since November of 2008. On New Year’s Eve 2011 my life was completely changed. I was riding on the passenger side of my car with my friend, who was driving. He took a turn too fast, and I was ejected from my car. I landed on the right side of my head breaking every bone on that side of my skull. When officers came to the scene of the accident they decided to air lift me to Memorial Herman Hospital. Upon arrival to the hospital doctors later told me I was pronounced dead for 20 minutes. As the medical staff worked very hard to bring me back to life, a miracle happened! While I was dead I remember having a conversation with Jesus Christ. He asked me “Would you like to stay with me?” I replied “My daughter needs me I have to go back.” At that moment I came back to life! Though my injuries were severe they also played a vital part in keeping me alive. The broken bones gave my brain enough room to swell, and it minimized my chances of being in paralysis. I have undergone major Brain Surgery. I also pinched a nerve in my right eye impairing my vision. Finally, I broke my left foot giving me a Liz-Frank break. Doctors expected me to be in the hospital for 4-6 months. However I was only admitted in the hospital for a month. While there I spent three weeks in the in STICU Shock Trauma Intensive Care Unit, and I spent one week in a small Rehab unit within the hospital. At the time of my accident I wasn’t medically insured. As you can imagine the cost of this accident is extremely severe. As of today my total medical expenses are at an estimate of $375,000 dollars, and are still rising. I should not be here to write this donation letter, but I am very very thankful. I would also agree with you that there are probably more worthy causes for you to donate to. However I have made a commitment to my family, friends, and especially my daughter Skye to turn my life around, and be the person I know I can be. I am very lucky to have a second chance at life, and I know it! Thank you again for taking the time to read my story. You can view my story in greater details and photos at my donation page:
Please consider donating to my medical expenses to help me regain my finical independence I once tookfor granted. Any dollar amount given will be greatly appreciated, and truly Heaven sent. Thank you for your consideration and God Bless!
I am new to Care2 but I think this is the place that I have been looking for. There are alot of subjects that interest me and I have joined a few groups already. I am a Marine Corp veteran, from many years ago and a registered nurse by trade. Helping others has been part of my whole life but now I am the one asking for help. I need a total left jaw joint replacement from an injury I received when I was about 10 yrs old. I had to fight for almost 2 years with my employer and insurance company and in the end I lost my job. I had worked 10 years with a spotless record and I never thought things like that could or would happen to me. I have been married for 21 years to a great man who is also a veteran. Jim is a Vietnam disabled vet but his disability is minor so he is working in the air conditioning business. I am not able to work as a nurse because I am taking pain medication, and so financially this has ruined my family. I am paying COBRA for now and that alone is very expensive. You can read my whole story at :
I am grateful to those that take the time to read, give and pass the word about my situation. I know that when I am back on my feet I can again give to others. I would much rather be giving than receiving help. Thank you for taking the time to read my share on Care2. I also have a information site where I post what is happening day to day in my life. You can read it at:
My Name is Roger Henderson and I am a caregiver for Teresa Moyer. She was involved in an accident in 2004 that made her a paraplegic. Suffering from her back being broken in three places, spine severed at L1, shattered right wrist, and both ankles. I have been Teresa's caregiver since 2007, and I have tried every avenue to get her a van through different (Spinal Cord Injury) organizations with NO luck!
Teresa is confined in the apartment watching TV, the only time she gets out is for Dr's appointments, and she is transported there Via Medi-Van's. She would dearly love to get out and see some of the world, perhaps go to the mall, and live as much as possible as a normal person.
This fundraiser is to help get Teresa a handicapped van and any & all donations large or small will be accepted, appreciated, and used for that purpose ONLY!
The Bank of Mauston has set up a special account for donations!

I try to work hard, be a good person, and do the right thing but I have still reached the lowest point in my life. I need $1000 to get a boot removed from my car so I can actually drive to work and try to make money to pay for a mountain of other things. If I am unable to pay to have the boot removed the city of San Francisco will impound my car and charge me $75 a day until I can pay all the incurred fines. I don't know what to do.
I feel like a loser, and am beside myself. I have been able to help others randomly when I had surplus, I guess I'm just trying to put it out the universe that I really need a leg up. I need help.
i have just found out that my husband may have lung cancer and a heart problem. we were advised of this on saturday morning by his primary care doctor. he has no insurance and i have been trying to take care of the bills, but i am behind on everything now. what i need is a small car to take him to his appt at the university hospital that is two hours away from us. it is the only place that he can go for help with no insurance. we have a 1988 ford truck, but it has bald tires and uses alot of gas. i have found a car that is small and will be much better on gas, but it is $1500. which i dont have. is there any way that some one can help us. if you want to do this as a loan that would be fine, i can pay back $100 per month. i og on monday morning to have a stress test done due to chest pain. i have a pacemaker already and i think that the chest pain is caused by stress.
i work full time and we can not get any financial help through the government.
