I have vinyl siding, so I'm not worried, but rather, I'm excited. We've got either two pairs of red headed woodpeckers, or a pair with juveniles. Our feeders are near our garage, quite close, and as we got out of the car this evening, standing in the drive, the woodpeckers landed on the feeder, and the male fed either the female or a juvenile from the suet feeder. Then two more came by. It was so cool. Kevin and I were so close and it was exciting to see them.
Yesterday, we were staining our deck and as we were standing there, taking a break, the pair landed on the railing of the deck and hopped around at each other and chittered at each other. They were even closer than they were at the feeder. It was really cool!
This photo kind of shows you where we were. The fence angling out from the garage is where the feeders are now. We were standing in the 'drive' area, right in front of the garage door.

Those woodpeckers were great.
