My wife happened to look out at our platform feeder and saw a new and unexpected visitor. There was the most beautiful Red Breasted Grosbeak eating the Black Sunflower seeds. He ate his fill and then left. This is the first time I have ever seen one a in our area, and he was a very pretty bird.
Always glad to see what new species might feed here.
I just came in from watching them.We now have 5 mle and 5 female Red Breasted Grosbeaks, 2 male 2 female Cardinals, 10 Goldfinch, 1 bluejay, 1 male 1 female Bluebird, and several chickadees visiting my feeders. All at the same time.Wonderful show to watch.
Much more enjoyable than TV or other junk.
The dang cowbirds are back here too. Running off my finches and sparrows.May let my dog get after em. He loves to chase the cowbirds.Any birds for that matter.
No woodpeckers, but I do have a new catbird visiting.
I got home and all my friends are here. Baltimore orioles bluebirds, hummingbirds and a fly catcher who has a nest in my shed and oh, yes the cowbirds.
