An unexpected visitor...

My wife happened to look out at our platform feeder and saw a new and unexpected visitor. There was the most beautiful Red Breasted Grosbeak eating the Black Sunflower seeds. He ate his fill and then left. This is the first time I have ever seen one a in our area, and he was a very pretty bird.

Always glad to see what new species might feed here.

The red breasted grosbeak are also beautiful singers. I saw one today, for the first time this spring so I guess he just got back. They started coming to my property a few years back and come back every year, so yours probably will also.
They have multiplied

I just came in from watching them.We now have 5 mle and 5 female Red Breasted Grosbeaks, 2 male 2 female Cardinals, 10 Goldfinch, 1 bluejay,  1 male 1 female Bluebird, and several chickadees visiting my feeders. All at the same time.Wonderful show to watch.

Much more enjoyable than TV or other junk.

I don't watch TV in the spring either. To much going on outside. I have bluebirds in one nest box and tree swallows in the other and a pair of fly catchers in my shed so I have to be careful when I go in there. I moved most of the stuff that I need in there to another location that way I don't have to disturb them. We are having a beautiful spring here in Southern Ontario.

We have the Grossbeaks back also. Love them! And alot of other new visitors. It sure is good to look out the windows and see the "new" birds. Darn old Cowbirds are back in flocks too. Woody Woodpecker's are around, they're alot of fun to watch. I put the rest of the deer's corn out and the black birds and ravens have been lovin' that! We had alot of ravens so the little birds took off for a while. I'm keeping my cats inside and they are mad! Well, it was snowing today and one insisted on going out so I let her. She was sorry! And in very fast. Snow in May. grrrrrrr. Rage

I just back from the West Coast of BC, and I got to see the Bald Eagles which was a thrill for me. I didn't see to many other birds except Ravens and robins. I really enjoyed my trip and even got to go through a rain forest which was a mystical experience for me. I heard lots of birds there but didn't get to see any. I now know why they want to protect it.
I got home and all my friends are here. Baltimore orioles bluebirds, hummingbirds and a fly catcher who has a nest in my shed and oh, yes the cowbirds.
