Money Math: Lessons for Life

Money Math is a four-lesson curriculum supplement for middle school math classes, teaching grade 7-9 math concepts using real-life examples from personal finance. The 86-page book is a teacher's guide with lesson plans, reproducible activity pages, and teaching tips. A teacher needs only one copy of Money Math to teach several classes of students.

This is a publication of the US Dept. of the Treasury.  I think they are out of the free copies, but it is still downloadable.  Fantastic real-life personal finance lessons.

I was wondering. Other than the EPA, has anyone come across any free educational materials about recycling. My local homeschool support group is trying to have a learn about recycling get together for our children & are looking for either "free" or "low cost" items. It can be books, posters, CD's, DVD, or anything that can help teach about recycling. I've already gotten the materials from the EPA. Thank you for the info on that one. Any help anyone can offer would be great!  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

Hello, I'm a new member. January 08, 2007 9:08 PM

I'm a new member here.  I home schooled my kids through high school, starting in preschool.  Here is a site where you can download over 100 sample pages.  Many of them are pages from 14 different penmanship books on different topics such as nature, the forest, backpacking, how to make a walk special, character, home steading, crawly animals kids love, flowers, and a lot more.  Some of the downloads are crossword puzzles, word searches, coloring pages, and other fun stuff.  A few are religious content (specifically Christian) but many are not.  Check it out!  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

Sorry, Cassandra, I can be so absentminded sometimes.  THe web site, which has somewhere near 100 free worksheet and activity page downloads is www.LightHome.net  Scroll down to the rainbow and on the left side you will see "Free Stuff" or something like that, I forget the wording.  Or click on the word curriculum either at the top or near the rainbow- there are two places that say curriculum that bring you to a curriculum page with about 14 books.  You can clidk on each one and find free sample pages to download for every curriculum book on the site.  It's pretty cool!  Sorry I forgot to give you the link earlier.  I'm in a lot of groups so I don't come to this one every day.    [ send green star]  [ accepted]
