How would one go about deleting a group of which they are the owner/creator?

Another question:

I recently visited a group (World Friendship/Snailmail) wherein when I was transfered to it a grayish screen popped up with a messge wishing me Happy Holidays before I entered the actual group. How does one, as host, set their page up to do that? With that welcome function?

The thing that popped up for you when you visited the group is a host announcement. When a group host posts a new host announcement. all members of the group get that popup the first time they visit the group after the announcement is posted. To create an accouncement in your group, click on the 'New Accouncement' link just about the group discussions nlock (you must be a group host to post announcements).

As for deleting your own group, that is not currently a user option, you need to request it through the help formfor now.

My IM used to work, but suddenly when I try to use it all I hear is the little noise, but no window opens.  Any suggestions?
