Here's a new thread for pics, vids, poems, stories...

Vicky, you do this better than I do.  I still don't know how to put "closed" by the old thread title.

Here is the link to the old thread.

I'll do it Lee...no problem.    Not sure if I can see vids yet but thanks for opening a new thread.

Sooooo many ducks!    Oh, I went to the 'closed' thread and was able to view Monica's vids!!!  YAY!!  I'm using Firefox now so maybe it was an I.E. problem.   Love the vids, Monika!

Hi Vicky and Monika,

Cute vid, Vicky.  I'm so glad you figured out what was wrong and you can see the vids now.

I've got a poem.  It's from the book Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame.

Ducks' Ditty

All along the backwater,

Through the rushes tall,

Ducks are a-dabbling

Up tails all!

Ducks' tails, drakes' tails,

Yellow feet a-quiver,

Yellow bills all out of sight

Busy in the river!

Slushy green undergrowth

Where the roach swim -

Here we keep our larder,

Cool and full and dim.

Everyone for what he likes!

WE like to be

Heads down, tails up,

Dabbling free!

High in the blue above

Swifts whirl and call -

WE are down a-dabbling

Up tails all!

I like this poem.  It makes me feel the way I think ducks do - carefree and happy.

Lee

Where's our dear Monika? I miss her vids!

I love the poem, Lee.  It indeed makes you feel wild and free when reading it!  I can picture the ducks with their little tails a wiggling!

If I duplicate any vids I will just delete them.

I can't remember if this one was posted in the old thread but the duck and puppy are so cute...especially when the ducky curls up next to the puppy's face to sleep.

Many say that pit bulls are dangerous....I don't think so..at least not if they're shown love when they're raised.

Here I am, back again. I'm sorry that I was not here for some time, but I had a lot of other work, so I did not have time for the computer. I'm happy I'm back, I missed you girls and our ducky group!
Beautiful poem, Lee. Love those dabbling ducks!
Cute puppy and little ducky, that's such a lovely pair of friends, Vicky! My favorite part is when the dog sleeps and the duck just goes and lays with him. And as regards the second video, this dog totally enjoys that little duckies company. Very adorable! Pitbulls can be really sweet dogs.

Hi Monika!!  I'm so glad you're back but I know how it is to have other things to do.   I love these vids...precious as usual!!!   In the first vid the ducks are so cute diving under the water with their little tails wiggling up in the air.   I like the way the one duck is flapping his wings.  In the second video it was so sweet the way they rounded up the ducks to go to bed.  lol  Do they shut the door at night so that they will be safe?   The 3rd video is cute too and the week old ducks I really love the coloring of the black & yellow one!

I, too, like the way the ducky slept with the dog (in his face) lol and how sweet the pit bull was toward his little duck friend.

It's interesting just how many sayings we say which contain our feathered friends.  Here are some of them.

JUST DUCKY SAYINGS

Have you ever thought about all the ways ducks and geese are integrated into our sayings?

Goose bumps

What's good for the goose is good for the gander

DUCK!!!! (lower your head)

Silly goose

Like a sitting duck

Waddle like a duck

Lucky duck!

A quack (bad doctor)

Get your ducks in a row

Goosed (pecked in the rear)

Don't get your feathers ruffled (any bird)

Let it roll like water on a duck's back

The goose that laid the golden egg

If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, looks like a duck, it must be a duck

Like a duck out of water

Like a duck takes to water

Loose as a goose

Wild goose chase

His goose was cooked

Bottoms up!

Just Ducky

Take a gander--to have a look at something

Going quackers

Feather your nest

Hi Vicky and Monika,

So many wonderful things!  Vicky, I love the two dog and ducky vids and the list of ducky phrases.  I've used most of those, but it never occurred to me how many there were...a huge list.

Monika, ducklings always make me smile especially the Indian runners.  I love the way they stand so tall.  All the babies were adorable.  The last three were so prettily colored. I'm sure they'll grow up to be beautiful ducks.  One of them had black legs and pink bracelets...so cute.

Lee

Awwww, what sweet vids of the swans and cignets.  (what are cignets?)  I love when the baby swans were going into the water (I think the 2nd vid).  they are adorable and I love the way the swans came right up to the lady that was feeding them.   Wildlife is so amazing.   Their beauty makes me get tears in my eyes.   thanks for sharing these Monika.   Maybe I'll look for some swan vids (or anything else with feathers) lol

Hi Vicky and Monika,

Bad thunderstorms here yesterday and today.  I'll be back tomorrow to watch!

Lee

We had some real bad storms last night....hope you fared well, Lee.

Hi Vicky and Monika,

I sat down to watch yesterday and the storms started up again within minutes.  We  are having them almost every day now, and they are causing lots of damage and flooding.  We are supposed to have them all week!  But so far I'm okay.

But I so love watching the swans, Monika.  They are so beautiful from the tiny babies to the grown swans.  I still hope to see a real swan one day.  There aren't any swans of any kind here not even at the zoo.  I particularly like the black swans.  They are all so graceful.  The mute swans are lovely too.

Vicky, baby swans are called cygnets.

Lee

thanks Lee for explaining as I wasn't sure.   I hope your storms end soon and that no damage will be done.

I read on the web about your storms and floods, Lee. I hope everything will be alright soon. We had storms in some parts of the country last weekend. They said tonight will come another storms from Germany and Austria to our republic.
Since I know how much you love black swans, I found several videos of them. I hope you & Vicky will enjoy them.

I love the videos, Monika!  Swans are such beautiful and elegant creatures.  How sweet that the swan was feeding the koi.  The black swans in the other vid were sure making a noise weren't they?   The white one was just as calm as could be.  The little duckling in the 3rd vid tried to be brave and jump in the water but decided to run and stay by mama instead.  lol   The black swan and her babies going into the water was sweet.   I love the music and scenery in the last video.   thank you.

Hi Vicky and Monika,

I'm sorry it's been so long.  We've had storms every day this week, and I'm so afraid of them that I stay away from the computer when it's storming.  It's been so terrible.  Whenever I would try and watch the vids, I couldn't see them all before it would start again.  I'm terrified that there will be more tornados.  There have been floods and damaging winds.  But it's okay for right now, and the storms are supposed to be gone by tomorrow.

Monika, I so love watching the swans.  They make me feel so peaceful (which I need right now).  They are like ballerinas - so graceful.  The vid of the black swan feeding the koi is just wonderful.  If the swan is sharing food, it must see the koi as its friends.  Isn't that sweet?  I think the duckling just wanted to be friends with the swan babies in the third vid, but mama and daddy swan said "no".  Did you notice the koi following the swans in the vid with the lovely music?  I enjoyed all the vids when I finally got to see them.

It's starting to thunder again.  I'm so glad this is finally ending tomorrow.

Lee

This is a short video but I just had to post it.  I had never heard swans 'talking'; I always assumed they were quiet, mute birds.  lol

Those swans sound like trumpets!  lol  I love their 'music'.

Cute swans, but very loud, Vicky! They look harmless, but they are nasty. Their names are Angel and Lilly (or Lyle - not sure). Both of them will chase you down, if you go near them, especially Lilly.

You actually know the names of the swans I posted Monika?  Wow!  I imagine they could attack people.

Awesome vids you posted.  I love the music in the first one and the fat red handsome rooster in the second vid is unbelievable!  I love the colors of the Sussex and the chickens/roosters in the last vid are hungry little buggers.  lol
2 years ago

Hi Vicky and Monika,

Vicky, it is hard for me to see for sure, but I think the swans in your vid are whooper swans.  They are surely living up to their name, aren't they?

Monika, I just love looking at the chickens.  I am always amazed at the variety of colors and patterns of their feathers - dove gray, peach, orange...so pretty.  The Sussex ones look like they are wearing lace capes.  Some day I hope to meet a real chicken too.

Do you remember that I was talking about hearing thunder at the end of my last post?  Right after I clicked "submit" the sky got all green and scary and we had another horrible storm.  My internet was knocked out for 2 days!  I'm glad I got to quickly post between storms!

Lee

Yep those swans are definitely 'whooping' aren't they Lee.  lol  Noisy little critters.    Oh  my, if I see a green sky I will be totally terrified.   Sorry your internet was off for 2 days but I'm glad you're back safe and sound now.

Where's are dear Monika?

I tried to post a couple of videos but it only showed the clickable links and not the actual video.   I hate that and unless it will show the actual video then I won't post it.

Hi Vicky,

I guess Monika is busy.  I hope she's okay.  So many are sick lately it seems (including me).

Sometimes they don't allow vids to be embedded.  Could that be the problem?  I don't mind a link to a vid especially if it's a good one.

Hi Fullmoon!!  Great to see you hear and the swans graphic is beautiful!!!

Lee, some video links that won't post the actual video may contain a country code that if removed will allow the video to show.  But I can't remember  how to do it.

This story has a happy ending....isn't he beautiful?

Hi Vicky, FullMoon, and Monika,

I was at the bird fair all weekend, and it was wonderful!  I wish you all could have been there...all kinds of sweet birds and even some other critters.

Monika, I hope you're okay.

Fullmoon, that is such a beautiful pic of a swan and her cygnets in the shade.  The lighting is lovely.

Vicky, I love the story of the oriole.  They are gorgeous birds.

Lee

Hi Lee!  I am so glad you enjoyed the fair!  Were you able to take pictures?  Hopefully you felt okay during the fair; I bet you got tired though.  I know I  probably would.  I'm glad you enjoyed the video.

Fullmoon, how are you doing?  I hope you come back and post some pictures or videos.  We never get tired of looking.

Where is our dear Monika?  I hope she is okay.  I miss her videos.

I'm not sure if this has been posted before but it is so cute.  How smart the mommy duck is to go right to the chair.

Dear Lee, Vicky & group, I apologize for my absence. I was so busy that I did not have time for the computer, it was really crazy! But I hope it will be better now. I missed you, girls, and I am very happy to see you again!

Hi Vicky and Monika,

I understand exactly what you mean, Monika.  Sometimes I just feel overwhelmed.  We are glad you're back.

Vicky, I hope you're okay and safe from hurricane Isaac.

Monika, I just loved the vids of the goose and duck families.  Nothing's cuter than babies, and nothing's sweeter than families.  The Lakeside Grove vid was especially nice.  It is a beautiful place, and the geese, ducks, and humans all seem to get along so well.  Watching it made me feel very peaceful and serene.  I'd love to go there.

Vicky, that was a wonderful vid.  I had not seen it before.  So many animals suffer, it makes me so happy to see a successful rescue.  What a nice man!

I'm sorry I took so long to post, ladies.  When I had a minute yesterday afternoon I couldn't get on Care2.  Then I noticed my internet was out.  Today was the best I could do.  I'm glad I had already watched the vids yesterday morning.

Lee

Hopefully this will post in the new format. *fingers crossed*
2 years ago

Monika I am so sorry I wasn't able to post about your lovely videos for the past week.  It wouldn't let me until I changed it to the new format.

I love your videos...the ducks & cygnets are so entertaining and I love the baby cygnets are so sweet.   White swans are so pretty but the black ones are awesome.   Thank you for sharing them with us.  I hope Lee is now able to post.  Hugs!

YAY!!!!  Back at last!!!

Hi Monika and Vicky,

Wow...we're back.  This new format is really hard for me.  I will get used to it though.

Monika, you know I love swans.  The 3 vids are just wonderful.  I especially love the babies.  So cute.  They make me smile, and these days I need all the smiles I can get.

Lee

Hi Monika and Vicky,

I especially love these vids I think because I missed them so much.  I like them all.  I don't think I can pick a favorite.  The black-necked swan is lovely of course.  I hope he has a friend nearby.  The shelduck is so elegant, and the Canada geese have such a dignified walk.  Nothing sweeter than Muscovy babes with all their different colors and markings.

Lee

Lee, due to the fact that I know how much you love swans, I have for you some videos about them. I'm sure you will like it. When I think about swans, I think about the majestic beauty and elegance of this animal. They are such fascinating creatures.

Danuta what a darling duck!   I wonder what that is that he's catching in his mouth.  lol

Monika, as usual your videos are lovely.  I love the way the Canada geese were delicately walking over the property of that company and the baby ducks were learning how to eat the lettuce/cabbage leaves.   Of course the swans are beautiful!

Hi Monika, Vicky, and Danuta,

Monika, they are lovely.  I could watch them all day.  I especially liked the one with the sweet music and the one with the tiny cygnets.  You are right.  There is nothing more elegant and majestic than a swan.

Danuta, that is the cutest little duckling I've seen.

Vicky, I think I'm actually beginning to get the hang of this.

Lee

I love the Philippine ducks, Monika!   The first one looks like he's giving himself a good clean or he's picking mites or whatever birds get.  The duck in the second vid has such a pretty blue bill and that is so precious the way he dives down in the water for food.  I've never seen a black and white duck...he sure is handsome.  The little dull brown one is probably a femaile, huh?

Lee, I'm so glad you're getting the hang of Firefox....it's really okay.

Hi Vicky and Monika,

Vicky, I think the first Philippine duck is waterproofing his feathers.  The gland that he rubs to get the waterproofing oil is on his back just before the tail.  Then he rubs it on his feathers so water rolls right off him "like water off a duck's back".

Monika, the Philippine ducks are lovely with their pumpkin-colored faces, black eyeliner, and blue bills.  I had never seen one before.  Vicky's right.  The male tufted duck looks like he's dressed for a fancy dress ball!

Lee

Wow, I always wondered what ducks, and maybe other animals were doing when they did that Lee.  Waterproofing, huh?   Makes a lot of sense.  You know so much about ducks...I'm learning from ya!

For a very long time I have not added any stuff about parrots and today it's time to correct this mistake! So here are some videos about cockatoos, stunning looking birds with a wonderful, sweet nature! Hope you will like them, girls.

I love cockatoos, Monique!!   I didn't realize they were part of the parrot family but I should have.   Is that a bird sanctuary or something?  So many of them and they are so beautiful and smooth looking.  But there are cars going by so I'm not sure if they are enclosed or flying free.  They like to defend their seeds don't they.  lol  Especially from the bird in the last video with red on his face.  What kind of bird is it?  The cockatoos don't seem to care for it.   What is in those bags?

Here's some little budgies.  They're not doing much, just being cute.

Hi Monika and Vicky,

Monika, I love cockatoos!  They are lovely, aren't they?  And these are all wild...like we're birdwatching in Australia.  Wouldn't it be strange to have

these huge birds come to your bird feeder?

Vicky, those birds with red on their faces are another kind of cockatoo sometimes called a corella, I think.  Here we don't call them that.  We just call them cockatoo with their species common name (Goffin's cockatoo, bare-eyed cockatoo, etc.).  They are much smaller than the sulfur crested ones and are mostly getting the seed that the bigger ones are knocking off. I can't see them well enough with my poor eyesight to tell which kind they are.  Can you

tell, Monika?

The keets are adorable just being keets, Vicky.

Lee

Vicky, as rightly said Lee, the birds with red on the face are collectively known as corellas in Australia. Three of the six species are primarily - or only - found in Australia, while the Philippines, Indonesia, and the Solomons each have an endemic species. They are relatively small cockatoos and – unlike the members of the subgenus Cacatua – all have pale bills. While most show yellow-tinged underwings and some red to the face, none have conspicuously coloured crests.
In those bags is a mixture of feeding for cockatoos - sunflower seeds, various kinds of millet etc.

Lee, I would like to have a cockatoos on my feeder, but they are sometimes very messy and noisy eaters, so I would have to clean up their mess and my eardrums would burst

I just wrote a long post re: your great vids Monika and now it's gone.   It did the same thing in another group I posted in.   If it doesn't come back I will be furious!  All the maintenance Care2 supposedly does just makes this site worse and worse!

Hi Monika and Vicky,

Monika, I love all the babies...and so many different markings and kinds - Muscovies, whistlers, mallards.  Babies make me so happy.  I need that right

now because I woke up with a terrible cold.

I finally got to hear a whistling duck whistle!  They are so elegant.  They

certainly have a huge number of babies.

It's odd that the doves aren't paying much attention to the ducklings, but the

ducklings think the doves are something to be afraid of.

Vicky, I hate it that you're having so much trouble with Care2 again.  It almost

seems like we take turns at it, doesn't it?

First Monika, since my earlier post didn't come back I wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed your previous vids prior to these.  The mama watching the babies feed and all the other ducky vids are so cute.  The doves eating and bathing in the water is so sweet.

I'm glad you posted a chicken video since I so enjoy them.  I heard & saw one lone duck (towards the end of the video) quacking in the background.  lol  The ducks bathing were really a treat to watch.   Some seemed to skim around the water while others dived and shook their feathers.  I could watch them bathe for hours!   The geese in the last video are lovely swimming with all their babies.   It's terrible what some people do to the eggs.  Why can't they just leave nature alone?  So what if there's poo on the grass.

Yep Lee, it appears its you one time and me the next having trouble with Care2.  I'm sorry about your cold; I hope you feel better real soon.

Hi Monika and Vicky,

I'm sorry it's been so long.  I have the worst cold I've ever had...at least it feels like it - sore throat, runny nose, terrible headache.  Even my eyes are all scratchy and runny.

Monika, I love the vids.  The chickens are so pretty.  They look like they are covered in lace.  I think it is so peaceful to watch the Canada geese and their babies swimming.  I could watch all day especially with the lovely music.  The middle vid I didn't get to see.  It says that the vid has been removed by the

user.  From what Vicky says, I wish I could have seen it.

Vicky, I wish this cold would go away soon too.  It's all I can do to get my babies fed.

I have a story and a vid to share.  I will try to post them tomorrow when I

hope I will feel better.  I'm going back to bed now.

Here I am, dear Vicky! Awesome video! Don't you think that the rooster looks like a snowball with two legs? I'm not entirely sure, but it could be Cochin.
I'm so sorry you're sick, Lee. How do you feel now? Is that better? Get well soon!

Hi Vicky and Monika,

Vicky, how can I see the vid of the beautiful rooster that you posted that didn't post right?  I want to see this guy.

Monika, such wonderful vids.  I've seen ring-neck parakeets at the bird fair...beautiful birds.  When I first saw the pheasants I thought they were huge pigeons.  I've never seen any like these.  The barbet is new to me.  He reminds me of the kookaburra of Australia but more brightly colored.  I've seen munias also at the bird fair since many are kept as pets (strawberry finches, spice finches, etc.) but I've never seen black ones.  They are lovely with their orange tails.

I'm feeling much better today.  I cannot believe how long that nasty cold lasted.

Hi Monika!  I'm so glad you're back...we missed your videos.  I'm not sure how you were able to see the vid of the rooster I posted cuz I am unable to now.  If you know how, please let Lee (and me) know how.   Lee I'm glad you're feeling better.  How do you like Firefox now that you're getting used to it?   I love the way we are able to review everyone's posts without having to open another window.

The parakeet is so cute and makes a lovely noise.  I love the way he looked down over the bird box.

The pretty pheasants sure are quiet and alert aren't they?

The Barbet's trill is so loud and beautiful and I love his colors.  He does it for a real long time....he must get thirsty.  lol

The black Munia is adorable as he shuts his eyes to sleep.  I love to see their light colored lids covering their little round eyes.  The noise didn't seem to bother him.  Is he banded?  It looks like it.

thanks for sharing these with us.

Hi Vicky and Monika,

Well, that was the vid I was going to post, Vicky.  That's one of the many things I got behind on while I was sick.  It is lovely to see them once they recognize how wonderful the water is.

It's okay for ducks not to have a pond if they are kept as housepets and spoiled and loved.  These pets usually get to bathe in the bathtub or a children's wading pool.  But the ducks in the vid were hoarded, poor things.  They got no love and no swimming.

I'm so glad their lives will be better now.

Hi Vicky and Monika,

Vicky, what wonderful pics.  I love both of them, beautiful and cute.  I don't believe I've ever seen such a lovely pic of a mallard, and the duck and doggie friends playing is just soooo cute.

I've unknowingly messed up my computer somehow.  My cousin said that a major setting was wrong.  I didn't knowingly touch anything.  I know how ignorant I am.  Now I can't see any vids!  I'll have to have him look at it again.  They all say I don't have the right plugins (whatever that is)!

Wonderful video, Vicky! Amazing to see them adjust from fear/uncertainty to pure and outright pleasure! I am so glad they were rescued from that enviroment and able to live a happy and healthy life! And of course I love your pictures, they are just beautiful!
Lee, sorry about your computer problems. If the videos say that you do not have the right plugins, you obviously have something wrong with the Adobe Flash Player and you may need to reinstall it. Plugins help browser process the special types of web content, like Flash or Windows Media files. I hope your cousin will help you and computer will work again.

Hi Monika and Vicky,

My computer's all fixed at last!

Monika, what wonderful vids and pics.  The first set are gorgeous birds I've never seen.  The upland goose is so elegant.  I have never seen such a beautiful bird as the pink headed fruit dove.  They look like they've been painted by an artist, don't they?  And the great spotted woodpecker is also elegantly dressed with just a touch of red.  The great egrets are huge.  They look like pteradactyls (sp?) when they fly.

I love the pics too especially the duckling on the little duck float - so cute.  In the last two those birds better be careful both on ice and dealing with a cat!  So funny.

The chickens are lovely too.  I am always amazed at the many colors of their feathers and the wonderful patterns their feathers make...the most of any bird I'll bet.  What could be better than to see those adorable newly-hatched chicks?  So sweet.

Hi Monika and Lee.  I don't have time to view the vids right now but I will say how beautiful the dove with the purple head.  Absolutely gorgeous!  The wood pecker is lovely, is it a Downey?  The little duck sitting on the swan is adorable!    I cracked up at the funny graphic with cat talking to the geese/ducks?  Sooo funny.  I will view the vids of the hens and chicks later.  I can't wait.

I love the chicken vids Monika!   The last one is especially adorable with the chicks that were hatching.  I love it!  Cute little babies in the first vid too.   Interesting looking Ameraucanas.  Especially the white one.

Hi Monika!  So glad to see you back, I've missed your vids!   Okay, on the first 3 videos are those swans, geese or ducks?  lol   They have necks like swans, they waddle like ducks and the size of their body seems like a goose.  And I can't read German so I am totally lost.  haha!  I love them anyway.  Especially the one where they're eating and their little bottoms are up in the air.   So adorable.  So are the baby Goslings.   So small and fuzzy.     Thanks for sharing these with us.

Monika, the vids are lovely.  Canada geese are such wonderful creatures.  The mother goose will give her life to save her children.  Canada goose families really seem to love each other.  I so enjoyed spending some time with these creatures.  It made me feel peaceful and happy.  The tiny babies were especially cute.

Thanks Lee on letting me know they might be geese.  How sweet that the mother will give her life to save her children.

Hi Vicky and Monika,

Darn, something's come undone again in my computer and I can't watch the vids.  It says I need a plug-in again.  My cousin's coming tonight to fix it.  This was as soon as he could come.  I just wanted to let you know that I'm here and trying.

I don't know why this is happening.  I promise I'm not touching anything.  It's like my computer has a mind of its own!

I'll be back tomorrow to watch.  Sorry, sorry, sorry...

Always something with computers isn't Lee?  Me too.   I hope your cuz figures it out for you and fixes it.

Monika, those videos are adorable!  The duck family was really enjoying the sun weren't they?  In the first duckling vid I love the way the mother jumps into the water next to her ducklings.   She just plopped right in.  lol   The wild ducks have such pretty colors.   The dozing duckling is just precious; trying so hard to stay awake.  hahaha!  Boy those 8 day old ducklings sure look big; I wish I could learn to swim that quick.

Hi Vicky and Monika,

Vicky, it's fixed!  I wish it was always so easy.

Monika, I love all the ducky vids.  Do you know what kind of ducks those are in the first vid?  The babes are different than any ducklings I've seen.  All the ducklings are wonderful.  And is there anything sweeter than a baby animal trying to stay awake and not managing it?  Just what I needed to make me smile.

I'm glad your computer is fixed, Lee! The Australian Wood Ducks are in the first video, dabbling ducks found throughout much of Australia. It is rarely seen on open water, preferring to forage by dabbling in shallow water, or in grasslands and crops. It is also common on farmland with dams, as well as around rice fields, sewage ponds and in urban parks. It will often be found around deeper lakes that may be unsuitable for other waterbirds' foraging, as it prefers to forage on land.

I don’t really need to say much about today's videos. The swans speak for themselves. Graceful and beautiful. Hope you will like it, girls.

What sweet videos, Monika.    All the little cygnets are adorable!   I love white swans but the black ones look so regal.  I like the way the swan in the first one is moving the weeds to the side.  Why is he/she doing that? That is so cute where the baby is sitting in the bowl of water or food or whatever it is then crawls out and goes waddling towards his mom.  lol  The swan in the last video with his wings fluffed out is so pretty.   I see the gulls had to make their appearance and help scarf up some food.  hahaha!

Hi Monika and Vicky,

Oh I love the swans, Monika.  I've always liked the mute swans, but the black ones are even lovelier with their red beaks.  But best of all are the cygnets.  They are adorable!  As usual I could watch them all day.  They make me feel so peaceful and serene.

Thanks for telling me about the Australian wood duck.  I had never even heard of them.  More learning...

My hands are giving me trouble today or I would say more.

Charming, friendly and intelligent birds with lovable personality - Eclectus Parrots. So let me introduce Rosie and Toby.

Hi Monika and Vicky,

I came to watch, but all the vids are gone!  I'll try back later.

Monika, before the videos crashed I was able to see Rosie and Toby.    I LOVE those vids and parrots.    They are such beautiful colors and it was so funny when they didn't want to share their oatmeal.  The female looked like she scared Toby.  lol  I laughed when I saw Rosie eating the lotion bottle.  I'd be afraid she would get lotion in her mouth.   Eeks!   I wonder why she was going crazy on the cage?   She was furious!  hahaha!   I'd also be afraid that they would break the glass on the Christmas lights and swallow it.   I will come back later to see if I can view the other vids.

Hi Vicky and Monika,

I came back and watched the vids on Saturday and everything was fine.  The weird thing was vids were out everywhere.  The ads on my e-mail site even showed that exclamation point and wouldn't play!

Anyway, right after I watched the vids, Pepsi, my pup, threw up on my foot and things went down hill from there.  Finally I'm back to post.

Rosie and Toby are adorable.  I've seen eclectus parrots at the bird fair, but I've never known any so I didn't know what their personalities were like.  They remind me of little children.  I think Rosie's spoiled, but that's what birds are for, isn't it?  Everything they did was so cute.  I'm with you, Vicky.  I'd be afraid to let my parrots do some of those things.  It does look like they could get hurt.

And the chickens are lovely.  I especially liked the last one where all the different colors and patterns were in the same vid.  I liked the pale gold one and the one with dark red wings the best I think.  And the tiny chicks were so sweet.  I wonder why they call the wyandottes blue.

YAY!!  I was able to see the last vids.   The chicks are so precious...was that them as they were growing older?  Such cute little combs.  The Wyandotes look like they have patches for feathers.  lol   And I love all the different colors of the country chickens!

Pepsi threw up on your foot Lee?   Poor baby.  How old is he?

What lovely videos, Monika.   Now that I want to comment on them they have turned black and blank.  Darn!!  I will try to comment from memory.   The day old ducklings are adorable, I love the tail shaking of the Muscovies in the second or third video.  I wanted to be able to see the one duckling jump into the water in another video but the hen and rooster got in the video and I didn't see it jump in the water..  lol  The last video had more sweet ducklings....cute names for the mom and dad but I can't remember them without seeing the vid.   Was one named Razzle?

Hi Monika and Vicky,

Vicky, Pepsi is my 8-year old girl rescue.  She was abused, and didn't know if she would be fed, I think.  She eats things she shouldn't (like plastic) and is very clever about finding those things.  That is the one thing that's left from her time of abuse.  That's why she threw up.  She'd eaten a little piece of a plastic wrapper off something.  She's fine now.

Monika, I love the vids.  Nothing better than lots of tiny ducklings, and I never knew Muscovies had so much to say to each other!  The ducklings' first time ouside was lovely.  A whole new world to explore.  The silver appleyard ducks are very pretty.  I'd never seen them before.  And I love pilgrim geese, I think because you can tell the males from the females so easily.

Hi Monika and Vicky,

It's not very long 'til Christmas, ladies!

Monika, that last vid of the swan and the pilgrim goose feeding the fish is the cutest thing I seen.  I love it.  I wonder why they do it.  Isn't it nice of them?

I like the wigeons too.  Do you know what kind that is in the second vid?  I have actually seen an American wigeon who stopped off at our pond on his way to somewhere.  The colors are so pretty on wigeons.  They remind me of toy ducks for some reason.

The swans are my favorites.  It seems like the one who was doing all the hissing was a grouch though.  You'd think he'd be nice to someone who was giving him food.

Darn!   What is wrong with the stupid shockwave flash and/or Youtube?   I went to view Monika's vids and once again it said it crashed!!   Getting on my nerves.   Monika I will try to come back later and see if I can view them.

It is hard to believe that a year has passed so quickly and Christmas is here again. So are you ready for Christmas, Lee? To your question, Eurasian wigeons are in the second video.
Vicky, do you have the latest version of Adobe Flash? And what browser do you use? This is a common problem in Google Chrome, the browser already includes an integrated version of Flash Player which is automatically updated by Chrome. But these crashes can also be caused by old graphics card drivers.

Hi Monika and Vicky,

I'm sorry you are having trouble with the vids, Vicky.  I'm out of time now, but I'll start a new thread tomorrow.  Maybe that will help.

Monika, all the vids are lovely.  Geese and ducks together and then swans.  I don't think the geese and ducks in the second vid are making a mess.  They are taking a bath.  They have to to keep their feathers and eyes healthy.  I think they are having fun.  They are waterfowl!  Silly humans!

The blond Canada goose is lovely, and, of course, so are the black swans and cygnets.  I don't know if I've seen black swan cygnets before.  Their faces are very dark.  I could watch them all day...so relaxing. The goose eating with the ducks is cute too.

I am sick....earlier I got to watch 2 vids and then it froze up.   I just came back to try to view the rest and now it says Shockwave has crashed.   I guess it just isn't meant for me to watch them.   I use both Google and Firefox....this browser now is Firefox.  I try to keep things updated as best as I know how.

Anyway, I got to watch the video of the Mute Swans.  Are they really mute (and how can they tell) are is that just the name of them?   What was the thing he had in his mouth?  It didn't look like food.

Lee, I'll start a new thread with a link to this one.
