I love the videos, Monika!!  The budgies are the cutest things....so loveable and so colorful.  And boy are they loud and kissy kissy.  And the birds of Texas are very colorful too.  Well many of them!  The laughing bird is so funny.  I couldn't tell if it was the bird laughing all the time or just part but it had me rolling.  lol  Your 2 pictures are funny....especially the monkey on the back of the bird.  hahaha!

Hi Vicky and Monika,

Monika, those budgies certainly have lots to talk about, don't they?  Some of them have lovely, unusual markings.  And that laughing cockatoo is hilarious.  So many gorgeous birds in the second vid...everything from robins, chickadees, cardinals and mockingbirds to mallards, woodducks and wigeons.  It's like a video field guide.

The pics are so funny.  There is nothing more innocent than a parrot who's just made a horrible mess.  And the monkey on the macaw's back is so cute.

Vicky, at the end of the old thread you spoke of a pretty little yellow bird that you liked.  That was a canary and he looks exactly like my canary Mavramorn (a Chronicles of Narnia name).  Mav is a sweet little bird who thinks everyone's pretty.

Lee

Mav sounds delightful Lee and I bet he's beautiful.  Birds are such sweeties  with lovely songs to sing.    I can't believe this is the only bird I see in the Care2 animal emoticons.  But he's cute and will have to do.  lol

Adorable video of the cat and owl, Monika.  Who would have thought.  lol   The swans and cignets are so pretty.   The fuzzy ducks are precious but I didn't see the Egyptian Goose.  Did I overlook it?

Hi Monika and Vicky,

Monika, the vids are great as usual.  It always makes me nervous when I see a cat playing with a bird although it is very cute.  If the cat only accidentally scratches the owl, it will most probably die of infection carried by the cat's claws.  The swans, cygnets, and music are wonderful.  I wish I could watch all day.  It's so serene.  Of course , the little goslings are adorable.  I'm glad they are in a protected place.

Vicky, I think the babes in the third vid are Egyptian goose babies, aren't they?  I think that's what it means anyway.

Lee

Ahhhhh....thank you Lee.   I see where my error is.  I thought it said '3 Goslins AND an Egyptian Goose'.  lol   Instead it was actually saying they ARE of the Egyptian Goose.   I need glasses.  Oops, I ALREADY wear glasses!  hahaha!

This is short but amazing.  I hate where the mother is sitting but.....   There is an ad before the video and  it shows I think pelicans.   It's a 2 min. (maybe 6 min) ad but I only watched a little.  I love the pelicans they are showing...so beautiful

Duckling can't keep his eyes open - it is the cutest video ever, Vicky! The baby duck in the second video beated all records in running And how could anyone dislike these fuzzy ducklings in the last video? They are adorable!

Hi Vicky and Monika,

Sorry I haven't posted sooner.  My sinuses have been giving me fits.  I think it's all the rain.  They said on the news that we had gotten 40% more rain than normal here.  All the farm crops are ruined.  Then on top of everything else I've hurt my left wrist.

Vicky, all your little ducklings are so cute.  The second one runs so fast you can't even see him.  He's just a blur.  The little sleepy one is adorable.

Monika, I love all the Mandarins. They are such beautiful ducks.  I feel a bit sorry for the one in the last two vids though.  It looks like he's the only Mandarin there.  He must be so lonely.

Lee

Wow Monika the Mandarins are beautiful and their feathers look so soft.  I love the one in the last video with feathers standing straight up.   Amazing.  They're sure making lots of noise in the last vid aren't they?

Hi Lee, I'm glad you liked my vidos and I'm awfully sorry about your wrist and also that crops have gotten ruined.   That's livelihood for lots of people

This little girl looks so happy amongst all the fuzzy ducklings.

This is a very, very short clip (.gif) but it's so cute.  It's a constant looping so you'll see the same thing over and over. I will post a few this way occasionally.

Lee, I'm so sorry about your wrist and ruined farm crops.
Vicky, I hope the duckling did not break his beak! And a happy little girl with lot of happy ducklings, adorable!

Hi Vicky and Monika,

Vicky, those are so cute.  I'd love to be sitting where that little girl is.  That little duck running toward the camera is adorable, and he looks so happy.

Monika, I love watching the goslings and their parents.  Geese take such good care of their babies.  When I was a child, I thought the goslings were a small type of duck that like to hang around with geese.  I had no idea that they were goose babies!

Lee

I thought too that goslings were ducks....thanks for the clarification Lee.

Monika those babies are so adorable!   What a darling chick that was quickly waddling after the gang in the first vid.   In the second video I love watching how their all their little heads were going up and down as they were busy eating.   In your last video I was going to make a comment about how I liked the leaves blowing in the breeze when I saw a gosling come from underneath it's  mother.  lol  Precious!

Hi Monika and Vicky,

I'm exhausted from spending the weekend going to the bird fair.  I'll post tomorrow.

Lee

Hi Monika and Vicky,

Oh, I love the swans.  The first vid shows swans in Wales so it makes me happy to know that these swans belong to the Queen and so get some care and protection.  And I think the cutest thing in the world is a cygnet riding on a parent's back.  In the second vid those cygnets are as big as their parents.  It's odd to see them still with their mom and dad.  The last vid is just a pleasure...lovely music and lovely swans and babes doing what they do and being beautiful.

I saw all sorts of wonderful birds at the bird fair including some exotic ones that I'd never seen before...owl finches, baraband parakeets, etc.  But the oddest thing I saw wasn't a bird at all.  There was a very sweet bunny there called a Britannia Petite.  I promise that rabbit was the size of a guinea pig.  I have never seen a rabbit that small...and it was full grown!

Lee

Monika, your videos get better and better.   The swans are absolutely beautiful and the baby riding on it's mother's back is adorable!   I say this almost every time I watch one of your videos, Monika but I love the way ducks, geese and swans waggle their little tails.   I had to look twice on the second video as I was wondering what the dark stuff on the swan was...I thought it was dirt or mud.   Then I looked and it was gone!  I said WHAT???   So I rolled the vid back and saw how cool it was that he wiped it off with his beak/bill.  Awesome.  I like the last video with all the swans and cygnets and the music.

Lee, glad you got to see all those pretty birds.  I once had a dwarf rabbit and it was so tiny and so fast.   I wonder if the one you saw was the same size or smaller.

Hi Monika and Vicky,

Monika I love the crimson rosellas.  They are such beautiful birds.  I saw some in real life for the first time at the bird fair.  Though they didn't seem afraid of humans, they didn't want to interact with us as much as Amazons or cockatoos or macaws do.  They were domestic and not wild caught.  Perhaps they were overwhelmed by so many people.  I don't blame them.  I was too!

And the pics are so funny and so much like parrots would really say.  I hope you don't mind.  I'm saving them.

Vicky, I had a Dutch dwarf named Sydney.  The one I saw was only about half the size of my Sydney.  I love your little duckling falling asleep.  So cute.

Lee

I love the vids Monika.   The Rosellas are so colorful and inquisitive.   Funny, humans love the fleshy parts of the fruit and the birds love the seeds.  Were those grapes, plums or what?   The funny pictures made me smile.

Lee, was Sydney fast as lightening?   Mine little one was.  lol

Lee, I love Crimson Rosellas too. They are strikingly beautiful, eye-catching birds!

Those were peaches, Vicky. Seems parrots love peach trees!

Such beautiful birds, Monika!   So colorful and vocal.   That man is awfully brave to let the parrots eat out of his hand.   They have so much pressure in their beaks that I would be very, very nervous if they bit my hand (accidentally or on purpose).    I think that is the Kookaburro in the second video that the other birds were screeching at.   Poor bird; although he is a lot bigger than the others.   In the last vid with the pretty King Parrot, it sounds like rain in the background although it may be a waterfall or something since I didn't see any rain falling.  It makes me sad to think of all the rainforests that are threatened with destruction for palm oil and/or to make room for humans or companies.   The Human Invasion I call it....terrible.

Hi Vicky and Monika,

Vicky, you are right about the rainforests.  I'm afraid that soon there won't be enough left for our friends the birds.  Or to make oxygen for us either.  I think that if someone could figure a way to make money out of it, they'd take down the last tree!

Monika, I love the birds from "down under".  Can you imagine what it must be like to put seed in your bird feeder and have all those gorgeous, colorful birds show up?  I would love it.  The kookaburra is surely a rehabbed baby, don't you think?  I don't think they eat seeds so why would he even be there otherwise?  And I saw someone petting him.  Surely you can't do that with a wild kookaburra.  I think the man in the first vid had to be patient and work with the birds to get them to eat from his hands...like people here who stand every day with seed in their hands to train wild chickadees to come and eat.  Great vids!

Love this song~

Vicky, I am very scared that forests are cut down, the plants and animals that live in them are destroyed, and some species are at risk of being made extinct. People have no right to destroy the rainforests for their own purposes!  Oh, and I love your gorgeous photos with ducklings, by the way.

Lee, I would love to have all those parrots at my bird feeder. Must be amazing to get so close to wild birds and even touch the kookaburra! But he looked like an annoyed babysitter watching after all those lorikeets. He seems really annoyed at all the commotion, but not particularly motivated to do anything about it

Nance, very nice and such a sweet song!

Hi Monika, Nance, and Vicky,

Absolutely wonderful vids, ladies.

Vicky, your "loop" ducklings are sooo adorable.

Nance, I love that song, but I never knew 'til now who sang it, and the vid just fits it perfectly.  Thank you for that.

Monika, baby mallards are so cute, but they grow so fast.  Look how much they've grown in just 2 weeks.  I watched each vid over and over.  I don't think there's anything more relaxing than watching baby ducks.  I love it.

Monika, the baby Mallard ducklings and the cygnets are so adorable.   The ducklings grow so quick....in just 3 days you can how much.  I loved the sleepy little cygnet that lifted its sleepy head up.  lol

Hi Monika and Vicky,

Lovely vids of swans, Monika.  I'd love to watch all day, and I so wish I could...especially when there is beautiful music too.  Of course, that first vid made me feel like I needed a nap!  So cute.  The person taking the last vid also got some beautiful shots of the blue heron and a coot   And that was a very unusual shot at the end of the heron flying.  I've never seen any like that before.

Vicky, that is such a lovely song, isn't it?  Sometimes simple things are sweetest.

Hi Vicky and Monika,

Of course you love them Vicky because they are sooooo cute!!!!

These vids are just so relaxing to watch especially with the lovely music.  They made me feel better and I needed that.  I am so sick.  I had a flu shot and it made me sick.  That has never happened before.

There is a small parking lot near our pond, and many people leave their jobs and bring their lunch.  They just sit in their cars and watch the ducks and geese while they eat.  They say it makes them feel peaceful and less stressed so that they can go back to work and do a better job.  There must be something about ducks.  I don't know what it is.  These vids make me feel better too.

I'm going to lie down.

Lee

Beautiful vids, Monika.   So peaceful and the music is relaxing too.   The last video reminds me of Louisiana with it's Cypress trees.  The second video has so many different varieties of ducks.  The Mallards in the first video are very pretty and they, too, look so peaceful gliding on the pond.

Lee, I'm so sorry you feel bad....I hope you are better tomorrow.

The last video was stunning, was not it, Vicky? At times the water looks like liquid gold, it’s beautiful! Wonderful sunset light! And wonderful ducks, of course.

Sorry you feel down, Lee. Wishing you a speedy recovery. Hope you'll soon be well again.

Oh my Monika the bird videos are awesome!  the colors of the birds in the first one are amazing.  There is one that is yellow and light orange (with green, white, etc).   He looks so lovely.  Pretty little round eyes.   I love the surroundings in the second video.   So peaceful and the sounds are so relaxing.   The Snowy Owls are very pretty....I'd like to know how they twist their heads almost all the way around like that.   Pretty white dove, too.  So many birds in the trees.   The Macaws are so colorful as are the Sun Conures.   Thanks for sharing these videos.

Hi Monika and Vicky,

I watched the vids yesterday but I ran out of time and couldn't post!

These vids are just so great, Monika.  They are a treasure trove for anyone who enjoys watching and listening to birds.  There are so many kinds, all of them beautiful and entertaining to watch.  I especially loved the Amazons. They are my favorite kind of parrot.  I wish I could actually go to Birdland.  It would be a lovely place to see.  I think they must rehab birds too because I noticed a couple who had feather picked themselves.  Thanks for posting the wonderful vids.

Vicky, you've been to a place like this, haven't you?  A place where there were lots of birds to see?  Or am I misremembering?

Lee

Lee, the only place I can remember going to is a place in  Sevierville, Tennessee called Parrot Mountain.   You have a cup of liquid food and all of a sudden LOTS of birds come to eat and land on your arms, head, etc.   So much fun...scary at first since you're not expecting it.  lol    When we went to Nashville me and mom got lost from my brother and his wife and we missed so much in the animal area.   I can't remember if we saw birds there although we did see meerkats (which I adore) and lots of colorful fish.

Vicky, it is a White Bellied Caique, the lovely yellow and orange parrot. About the Snowy Owl, many owl species, can rotate their heads 270 degrees in each direction, which means they can look to the left by rotating all the way to the right, or vice versa. Owls have fourteen neck vertebrae as compared to 7 in humans, which makes their necks more flexible. They also have adaptations to their circulatory systems, permitting rotation without cutting off blood to the brain.

Lee, I love Amazons, these extremely intelligent and playful birds! They are beautiful, intelligent creatures which deserve all the love their human friends can give them.

Very nice videos, Monique.   The Pink Flamingo is lovely...when it's sitting down it reminds me of a swan.   Is it true or false that their feathers are somehow made pink; that they are not naturally that color.   I've heard that but find it hard to believe.    I lived in New Orleans and right now I'm about 40 miles away.   I love the swamps and cypress trees (where the Black Bellied Whistling Ducks are.  I had never heard of them.)  I like the way they stand on one leg and how their feathers look so soft.   I love the last vid with the ducks, birds and beauty of the water and mountains.   I like the way the ducks are sunning/sleeping on the rock.   Thanks for sharing and also letting me the name of the orange and yellow parrot.

Hi Monika and Vicky,

Is there a prettier color of pink than the color of flamingos?  And they look so odd eating with their heads upside down.  That must be a very nice pond in Las Vegas with all the lovely exotic kinds of ducks and flamingos.  Well, there are lots of rich people in Las Vegas.  But the bayous of New Orleans are pretty exotic too.  The whistling ducks look like they are on a movie set with cypress and vines.  The last vid is in Europe isn't it?  Such lovely scenery and ducks.  I love the statue of the goose.  I wonder what it's for?  Maybe it's an art work rather than a tribute.  We just don't have enough statues of ducks and geese!  We need more.

Vicky, I think it's what the flamingos eat that determines their color.  Maybe they need color food like a red canary!  What's that gray stuff called that hangs from the trees in swamps and sways in the wind and looks kind of spooky?

Monika, more great videos of the swans and cygnets!   I especially love the first one with the parents and babies.   What were they doing with the leaves (?) they were getting out of the water?   Very interesting.  I love the sounds of the swans and seagulls on the last one.

Wow, this video has some very interesting facts on flamingos and how the National Zoo manages them.   I love the way they lay their heads and neck on their bodies when they sleep and how light their eyes are beautiful.

I assume that "leaves", which swans pull out of the water, is their food - sea grass, marsh grass or green algae.

Great informations and excellent views of the flamingos! These birds are indeed, beautiful.

Hi Monika and Vicky,

I was just able to see the vids...only exclamation marks before.  I'm running late now and will post tomorrow.

Lee

Great vids, Monika!   Flamingos are so beautiful and I'm glad to know that the rumor that they are dyed pink is just that....a rumor.   I see they are naturally pink.   Very interesting to know that they do lie down to sleep.   I thought they only stood on one leg to doze.   It's a wonder they don't get tired standing for so long but it looks so cool.   Their eyes are beautiful and with the close up of the head I see that their beaks are a lot bigger than I thought.

I thought the link I posted was to Youtube but it now brings me to Care2 and no flamingos.   Not sure why when I posted that link that it wasn't in video format.   Hmmmm?

Hi Vicky and Monika,

Lucky I thought to try firefox or I still wouldn't have seen the swans

or the flamingos!  On IE all I get is exclamation marks.

Vicky, I wondered about your link.  I couldn't get it to work either.

I think the flamingos can sleep standing up or lying down as needed.

Also I'm guessing the mama and papa swans are gathering up pond weeds

that are too deep for the babies to reach and floating them for the

little ones to eat.

Monika, again I could watch swans and cygnets all day.  It's so

relaxing especially with beautiful music.  I never knew that swans

could "tip up" like ducks do to eat 'til I saw these vids.  With those

very long necks who would think that they'd need to!

And the flamingos are such a pretty color...yet so odd looking at the

same time almost like they aren't from this planet.  They are lovely to

watch though.  I enjoyed all the vids and am so glad I finally got to

see them.

Awwwww....what adorable hens and chicks, Monika!!  I love the way they are eating the grain and how proud mama is of her babies in the last video.  I love the 'feet' on the rooster(?) in the middle video.

Hi Monika and Vicky,

Monika, such cute little babies!  Chicks are very nearly as cute as ducklings, aren't they?  And their mamas are so sweet and gentle with them.  That rooster looks like a giant.  He's twice as big as the others.

Vicky, I love his feather "pants" too.

This is a sweet video of the birth of 2 hummingbirds and their fledging and first flight.

Hi Vicky and Monika,

I'm sorry I said I'd post yesterday and then didn't.  I forgot I had a dentist appointment yesterday and it took forever.

Monika, you've discovered another bird that is new to me and such a pretty one.  I like the red eyes and the white beak trimmed in black...very different from other parrots.  I love the kakariki (such a cute name too)!

Vicky, the bird in the second vid is eating flax which I think is the plant we make linen from.  I just love the story of the baby hummers.  I had never seen anything like it before.  It's so neat to see them grow from hatching to fledging.  I wish we could see all birds like that.

I'm going to rest this wrist now.

Hi Monika!  I love the wigeons!   Their brown heads and pointed black & white wings are lovely!  What kind of duck is that in the last video...the one with the green head and white body?  He is pretty, too.

Hi Vicky and Monika,

Monika, I love the wigeons.  They are such pretty little ducks.  I've actually seen a wigeon in real life.  One visited our pond once on his way to somewhere.  He was an American wigeon.

Vicky, I think that the ducks swimming with the Eurasian wigeon in the last vid are American wigeons, our version.

I'm still having a little wrist trouble but it gets a little better every day so I'm trying not to overdo.

Lee

Hi Lee!    I'm glad your wrists are doing better.    Where are you dear Monika?

Lee, happy to hear that your wrist is better every day.

Hi Monika!   The goslings are so cute and fuzzy; hard to imagine that they will grow up to look like their parents...black, white and brown.  I like the red around the eye of the Egyptian geese.   Was she calling for her baby?   She sounded and looked distressed gazing into the water looking for something.  I hope she finds it.  Their feathers are so pretty and look so soft.

Hi Monika and Vicky,

I'm having to apologize so much lately it seems.  I have been in so much pain all week from dental work on Monday that I couldn't even stand to sit at the computer or I would have been here earlier.  Sorry again, ladies.

Monika, I love the geese and goslings.  The Canada goose babies are so cute, and the Egyptian babies are too.  I am surprised that they look so different.  The Egyptian babies are so much darker than the Canada ones.  I'm also surprised at how much the Egyptian geese sound like ducks rather than geese.  Egyptian geese are another that look almost like they are from another planet to me.  Very unusual looking (but handsome).

Vicky, I think the goose is just on high alert protecting the babies.  She's probably warning off the person taking the vid I'll bet.

Hi Lee!  Hey, we know your medical problems so if you don't make it in for a few days don't worry.  We are praying for you.   Maybe she was alerting her babies and warding off the video person but it looks like she was looking in the water and the vid person appears to be making the film from behind her.  Of course I may be looking at it wrong.  lol   Monika, I hope you're not mad at us....we love your videos.

Vicky, of course, I'm not mad at you. In any case. I'm happy you like my videos and I love sharing them with you. I apologize for my frequent absence, I would like to post more, but I have not much time lately, unfortunately.

Awwwww....the swans are beautiful and I love the little sleepy headed babies, Monika.   Such protective parents in the second video.   The last video is so funny.   That big swan scared the little girl feeding it when it took food out of her hand.  lol  It probably would have scared me, too.  hahaha!   I loved watching the honking ritual of those 2 toward the end of the last video.  Thanks for sharing and it's okay if you can't make it in as much as you want.   At least we know you're alright.

Hi Monika and Vicky,

Monika, you know how I love swans and especially cygnets...such elegant, graceful birds.  The cygnets in the first two vids are just hatched.  They are so cute snuggled up to mama waiting for their brothers and sisters to join them.  In the third vid I found out why they are called trumpeter swans.  Their call does sound very much like a trumpet.  Wonderful vids!

I'm glad you liked my pigeons, Monika.  I rewatched it and boy they are in perfect step aren't they?   Even the movements of their heads....and the music matched the video perfectly.

Boy those are some really feathery chickens in the first video...so fluffy and beautiful looking.  Very pretty white ones in the 2nd video....such pretty tails.   I have never seen a black chicken....that is awesome!   Are those 2 mates or the same species, Monika?   If so I bet they have lovely babies.   I love the song that is playing in the video.

Hi Monika and Vicky,

Vicky, that is such a cute vid and the music is perfect!  I've always liked pigeons.   They are just a different kind of dove.

Monika, again I wish I knew something about chickens.  They are such pretty birds, and, from the way Vicky talks about hers, they are nice too.  The chickens in these vids seem to have almost too many feathers.  They are so fluffy...and those tails.  They are huge and stick straight up!  Even the ladies have fancy tails.  Wonderful vids.

I guess Monika is busy with Christmas right now but then she'll surprise us with her lovely videos.

These two are the same kinds of breed, Vicky, The Malaysian Serama, the smallest breed of chicken in the world. They make great companions while gardening and enjoying the mornings/evenings on the porch. They are very friendly and actually crave human interaction and attention.

Lee, these fluffy chickens are, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful breeds of poultry. They have friendly personalities, and will ride on shoulders and allow themselves to be pet and held by someone.

Hi Monika and Vicky,

Wonderful vids, Monika.  I so wish I could have a pet chicken...but it's illegal here in the city.  It makes me happy to see them in vids though.  I really like the ones who have feathery "pants" on.  Are they the males or are they a different kind of chicken?  And of course the chicks are adorable.

I hope you have a ducky Christmas, ladies!

Monika, I don't know if you know this, but for us "ducky" is a slang word for pleasing or delightful!

Oops...I almost forgot.  I found this lovely story about a goose and a dog.  Just right for Christmas.  Enjoy!

Monika I sure love the videos.  What neat looking spotted 'pants' on the legs of the chickens/roosters in the first video.   The baby Lavendars are so sweet with their constant cheeps.  And it appears in the last video that only the rooster has furry 'pants'.   I guess the birds in the first video are different species as it seems only some of the roosters have all that fur on their legs.   Strange how different roosters all crow differently.

Lee, what a precious story about Geraldine & Rex.  I posted it on Facebook as I think others will love it as much as I do.

Hope your Christmas were filled with peace, love and joy, my friends. Wish you good health, lots of love, lots of happiness and peace for the year ahead. Happy & bright New Year to you!

Glad you love the videos, Vicky. Bantams are in the first video, and in the third video Easter Egger, Old English Game Bantam and Golden laced Cochin.

This just brightened my day, Lee, such a lovely story.

Hi Monika and Vicky,

Monika, you know how I love swans.  I especially like the Bewicks swans.  They look like mini swans, and they make such sweet noises (and some not so sweet).  The black swans are beautiful, of course, with their red beaks.  The black cygnets look different somehow from other cygnets.  I'm not sure exactly how.

Vicky, that story is now one of my favorites.  I'm so glad you and Monika liked it as much as me.

I'm having all sorts of trouble with this thread.  The first time I came to watch the vids there were only those exclamation marks.  Another day my posts kept disappearing.  Today everything at last seems to be fine.  Tomorrow I'll make a new thread.  Maybe that will help.

Such beautiful swans, Monika!   Unbelieveable that they travel that far and it takes them six weeks.   Birds are amazing creatures.   I saw some pretty black birds (in the 2nd video I think) that I think were ducks....they have the white on black bodies and their necks look short?   Very lovely.   I like the black swan with the 3 adorable babies.   She has white also on her black wings.   There is one swan in the last video that made a real cute noise.   Thank you for sharing your videos...you always pick some nice ones.

Lee, yesterday I tried to post a picture from Photobucket in one of my groups and it wouldn't post, yet another picture from the same bunch would post.  Who knows?   I think the question marks mean you need to update player you use.  Is it Adobe?   I think it begins with an 'A'.  Monika probably knows the name.   Oh, I will start a new thread and see if it helps.

I posted this video in another group (Lee you may have seen it).  It's beautiful (and sad, too) although it's turned out okay.
