Andy, I took the pledge. Can I cross post on Project Pangaia and elsewhere ?
Indigo
Signed and passed on . Thanks , Andrew . ![]()

Today there were only 44 signatures. I called some friends and we added 8 more. I have asked them to pass it on.
We need to really step this up if the goal is the end of March.
Please cross post and tell your friends and family.
Also, let us do a network blitz. Email all of your Care2 friends and ask them to sign.
TOGETHER WE CAN DO IT !
Ok, we've now added a new easy to use facility to the petitions.
If you have already signed just visit this link:
http://www.tree-nation.com/community/invitation.php?petition=25
You can also access it by visiting the petition again and clicking on this link 'Forward petition to your friends'
You can either import your address book and send it directly, or add them manually. A letter is auto generated with all the links. It's really easy and should help to get 1000's of signs if we all use it.
good luck
Andy
David, we need to "brainstorm" ways of utilizing the Care2 community network for many urgent projects and campaigns.
When I joined Care2 I was under the impression that it was a community of commited activists. I have found that not to be true.
I have chosen my friends network based on how actively commited and present they are and I am very blessed to have excellent contacts as we work on many painfully difficult campaigns together.
I want to learn about all the ways we can get our messages out to the "active" community.
Is anyone an expert in this ?
Andy, I am delighted at the progress being made on your website !
We still need to recruit members to that site. It is beautiful in every way and full of promise. It is also a very safe place...which as a woman, I really appreciate.
Have you considered having a MySpace page as well as Care2 and your home page ?
On some campaigns I have worked with there were lives at stake and we needed immediate responses for petitons and protests.
Large organizations we support on our women's forum are using MySpace and have had a definite marked increase in participation. Each page gets a minimum of 30 viewings per day.
A well presented project and campaign with videos, graphics and a strong message, would get even more.
What do you think ?

Dear Jan,
Tree-Nation offered you a Tree! an Acacia Senegal (type of Acacia) called Already 300 signatures.
You can see where your tree is planted by clicking here: http://www.tree-nation.com/?tree=108978
Your new Tree is already attached to your profile and visible in your Tree List.
Together with you we are planting 8 million trees to create a park in a shape of a huge Heart.
The trees are planted in Niger, one of the countries most heavily affected by Desertification and Climate Changes.
Thanks to your tree you are helping in the ecological change.
Benefits of your Acacia Senegal:
- Renowned for their remarkable ability to enhance soil fertility.
- An individual tree can yield up to 200-300 grams of gum.
- Foliage and fruits, used as feed for animals.
- Stem, leaves and gum used for medicines.
Your tree-blog will always be available at this URL: http://www.tree-nation.com/?tree=108978

Thank you for using Tree-Nation to send trees to your friends and loved ones.
Let's get the word out in Myspace...launch the petitions to a wider audience and see what we get. I'll start today!
We do have a Myspace for Tree-Nation but we need to get it off the ground, very little time to design it, but it has always been on the drawing board.
here's my myspace for your info:
saludos

Andy, here is what some organizations I have supported are doing on MySpace. If you view the links, it may give you ideas. They seem to have developed effective networking that does not rely on internal membership in MySpace.
Let me know if this is helpful.

I WANT YOU ALL TO KNOW HOW PROUD I AM. WE ARE UP TO 429 SIGNATURES FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD! We now have 1727 members of tree-nation and have planted 661 trees for the effort. Those numbers have grown and continue to do so.
In 7 days the signatures will be delivered to a major champion of our cause, the former vice president of the US, Al Gore. He will hear of our effort and all that we have done or are doing. Out of our worldwide community, and I'm sure we have reached millions, we have less than 500 people who have made the pledge. I'm not sure of the world population with internet access, but it doesn't mater cause the math will still have the same answer. The percentage of the population that could've made the pledge to the world we live in will be real close to zero.
I've contacted hundreds of thousands on Care2 as I'm sure many of you have done also. I've sent emails to about every email address I have. I've talked to my family.... I don't know what else to do? Is this how people really feel? disconcern? uncaring? powerless? None of those words are true for anyone, we all have the ability! Before we ask others, have we done all that we could do ourselves? Is there anything we can do to bring the number of signatures up? does anyone care enough?
Thanks David. I have been working on this as well.
I am pleased to watch the signatures grow...but it is not enough !
I think we are actually experiencing a terrible widespread indifference to our global crisis.
I want to believe people care, but in my campaigns to help women, children and victims of war, I am witnessing an alarming lack of empathy for human suffering.
Many of us are "brainstorming" ways to reach through this creeping malaise.
This extends to attitudes about our environment. We are running out of time !
This pandemic of selfishness may end. If it does not, humanity will not survive.
The planet will manage just fine without us...but inaction seals our doom !
The petititon signatures are going to be sent to Mr. Gore at the end of next week. I am really hoping that more people will sign this to pledge to be climate messengers before that time comes. The affects of climate change are being seen globally, and so this must now be a global effort of all people in joining together for our planet to send a message.

Have you seen the '10 simple things you can do' document from the 'An inconvenient truth' website.
here's the link:
http://www.climatecrisis.net/pdf/10things.pdf

The poor in this world are suffering and will suffer the most from the catastrophic effects of climate change if we continue our rapacious use of fossil fuels. The United States must understand their role in exacerbating this crisis as well as China and other developing industrialized countries and act NOW.
Glacial melt and species loss are sure barometers of global warming/ climate change and scientists are reporting that they are happening at a much faster rate than first predicted. We could be without winter ice in the Arctic in as little as 34 years! That is more than likely your lifetime and perhaps even mine, but most definitely the lifetime of our children and grandchildren.
By signing this petition you are pledging that you will not allow that to happen... That you will not leave a world uninhabitable for future generations. And while I personally believe that glacial melt is now probably beyond the point where it can be totally stopped, we still have time to save our forests and our oceans! Please then sign this petition and send it on to all you know in order that we may reach our goal by the time this is sent out so we can plant more trees to mitigate deforestation and poverty.
This is our time to come together.
Thank you!
