Thank you Vicky! So many beautiful pictures in the other thread.  I can't be long.  Only 84 minutes to remain and I don't have any money to buy a cord for my laptop that has a virus that someone told how to get rid of it.  I have been stollen from my wallet first Saturday I was here in Surrey or White Rock where I am staying I have a roomate this is the second one from the 31, my first day, not easy but I have everything to face it.  I have been stollen for 6 cheques, someone made for about 1,500$ I had to go to my Bank yesterday and today at the RCMP  they or the same person tried to imitated my signature so, after 1:00 am an agent investigator from the RCMP will phone the house number and then will come to meet me to discuss about this affair.   Please Vicky and Tas think about me.

PS  A native woman who has breath cancer, one is not there anymore, she came to me at my breakfast and she gave me a so beautiful shell and a nice white feathure and other things in a pocket she made.  It is so precious to me.  Was a balm on my 'bobo' --

Tasunka and Marie, the other great pics are easy to access....just click on the link and it will take you to the other thread which grew too long so I opened this one.  Plenty of room to add more beautiful artifacts!

I love the pipe bag, Tasunka.   It looks like it would be a great style for a purse;   That's not a dream catcher is it?  Beautiful whatever it is.   I can't see the warrior very good but I'm sure I will like it.

Marie, those flowers are gorgeous highlighting the sage sticks.   I'm sorry you had checks stolen from you.   That's happened with me before and all I had to do was file a police report and take it to my bank and sign an Affidavit stating what happened and then the bank refunded my money.   I hope you get yours back.  How nice the lady with the cancer gave you some homemade things.    Did she pass away?

Isn't this bird's wingspan awesome?   I can't see it good...is it an eagle?

Thank you Tasunka.

Marie my prayers are with your friend and I'm glad you go there to visit and be with her.    Yes, this is the longest day of the year; daylight will decrease 1 minute a day until it changes again.   At least in Daylight Savings Time areas.   Happy First Day of Summer.  What does FM stand for?

Oops....I probably shouldn't post this here.

Don't be silly, Vicky it's your group!

Happy solstice, and summer for all!

Yes, but I just told Marie a couple of days ago about posting her pics in another thread that didn't pertain indian stuff.  lol   What does solstice mean?  I've forgotten and too lazy to look it up.   lol

GYC (Greater Yellowstone Coalition?).   You know Tasunka I, too, remember glancing over (I haven't had time to read in depth and I may have lost the article/email) about lands either wanting to be extended or being extended.   I pray it's 'being extended'.   That would be awesome and I hope it includes the bison, which I think I read it does.   You travel so much...may I be nosy and ask what you do?   Your life seems so interesting with all your travels.  PM me if you want.

We took a class across the ocean, to pay for it.

Same as when we were chartering, having strangers aboard got too intrusive.

Oh my, your life is so fulfilling, Tasunka!   If I could live my life over I would hope that I would do it differently....go lots of places and do lots of things.   And a big YAY for the extension.   See if you can find the article and post it, okay?

I'm sure it's okay to post it here, June...Tasunka made this thread for anything indian I think.   Right, Tasunka?   Being the print was so small, it was hard for me to read but I managed and the poem is lovely.

Tasunka I love that picture and yes I saw 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest'; I could watch it over and over (of course not back to back.  lol)    Jack Nicholson and 'Chief' were an unlikely pair but they made it work.   I loved both of them....as actors and in that movie.

I have 7 mins remaining.  The shelter kick me out at noon, but I won't be there.  I have to visit an apartment at 18:30 and I have to go to my Bank to have money it is big problems I didn't sleep enough only 6 hours for me it is not enough.  I came to the Library to talk to my best friends and I will come back later after my Bank hoping my money is there and I will eat to have my diabetes pills to take.  So, I am anxious.

Hope to talk to you with better news.

Back, thanks for the Sioux tas dearest one.  I decide to stay at the Library I have 85 more mins.  I am so tirerd hungry lol.   These people from that shelter are stupid, with their abused women.  One has a dog, she is Native, and was crying when I got up, she needs to go to the vet.  But, to me I am more relax when I am out of there, I can't live with rules at my age but I think I was never able to live with any rules.   I need my entire freedom.  Dave didn't write for about one week.  ????? Tas, how I would like to have a boat and do the same as you.  I am sure you understand me.  I will still visualize that boat I want and someone that will love to do this best Life.  I feel I am like a number on this planet nothing else.  To tired.  The RCMP Caporal is supposed to be on duty today and to phone me.  But no more phone.  A great poet from Quebec say in a song, a beautiful one, well how to translate in English, . . .  they are like died who still walk.??  I feel like that.  So, hope you will have time to come here to talk sweetie Tas.

I made this whitout knowing . . .  I am borned anxious, it is part of my genes and I love to wear jeans.

Hope you will come here.   I am not interesting in at all, I will celebrate the Fourth of July my way with good herbs...   Maybe I will be a real homeless, I can take it, I will not have rules. lol.

Marie with great HOPE... I think after 1 week dk didn't write it is because he doesn't want me anymore, so many things are possible.

Onac:oglala native American church.

Remember when eagles were endangered?

The government made it mandatory that all feathers have paperwork stating dates and something called a provenance.

Like a chain of evidence. ..to prove where the feathers come from

Possession without paperwork was a federal offense.

So the tribe got a federally immunized

Grant that with this membership, all feathers can be carried legally.

I have provenances, but get the card for insurance against the federal government

Don't trust them!

Wouldn't it be great if they did due diligence like that for ivory,or rhino horn etc?

Beautiful picture June!

Do Tasunka you mean that eagle feathers are free to be carried which may have resulted in harm or death to the eagles?  I don't trust the government either.  Not by a long shot.  It is so very sad to see elephants killed for their ivory tusks and the poor rhino (still alive) with his horn yanked out!  A bloody round hole which I know hurts the rhino very much and is open to infection.   Why don't people care?

Thanks for explaining what DK means, Marie.  I would like to see Dave's artwork some day.

the top is kachina dolls, connected so they must be family

and then the container is made of parfleche, kind of like paper mache, but different

the kit is for women at that time of the month, how sophisticated!

it is filled with cotton pads, and has a compartment for sage (smudging),underneath the ermine skins.

they sure did use a lot of animals in the artifacts, but they were plentiful and the Native American used every part of any animal they killed down to the sinew, which they used to sew.

these things they made, have lasted over 100 years or more!

Wow, I never would have guessed that that was used for women at that 'time of the month', TAS.  Can you explain a little further how they used or was it just a container to hold pads, etc.  I know you told us what smudging is before (but I forget); how is it used during this time of the month and what are those little hangy things?   It looks like a nice wall decoration.

unfortunately the Europeans brought slaves there, some people think them natives

nothing could be further from the truth, just liked the weather, and they  were stuck there

finally getting free, the governments of all the caribbean down to Venezuela

are all corrupt, and even the British islands, don't have much democracy,or socialized anything there ,even though they started to get British Passports, they would have to go to England to get free health care.

The place is still very backwards, and the Us Virgin Islands are overcrowded and dangerous.

PEACE & Native American Day
Apache Prayer on Native American Day

My help is in the mountain

Where I take myself to heal

The earthly wounds

That people give to me

I find a rock with sun on it

And a stream where the water runs gentle

And the trees which one by one give me company

So I must stay for a long time

Until I have grown from the rock

And the stream is running through me

And I cannot tell myself from the tall trees

In my vision, I know that nothing touches me

Nor makes me run away

My help is in the mountain

That I take away with me.

Earth cure me. Earth receive my woe.

Rock strengthen me. Rock receive my weakness.

Rain wash my sadness away. Rain receive my doubt.

Sun make my song sweet. Sun take anger out of my heart.

Maybe TAS means Wiccan, Marie.   I like your bull photo.

TAS that is a beautiful poem and also the picture of the elk.  So sad that most of the tribes are extinct and that the U.S. Virgin Islands are dangerous.   As beautiful as this world is (nature) I only wish that people could love one another....what an awesome world we would have.

wakan, also called Wakonda, or Wakanda,  among various American Indian groups, a great spiritual power of supernatural origin belonging to some natural objects. Wakan may be conceived of as a weak or strong power; the weak powers can be ignored, but the strong ones must be placated. Poisonous plants and reptiles can contain wakan, as can intoxicating drinks. Wakan beings are the immortal supernatural powers who bestow wakan; they too may be weak or strong, but all are believed to enjoy music and pipe smoke. Wakan has no essential characteristics in itself; rather, it is a kind of holiness or wonderfulness inherent in some objects. Compare mana.

Marie,

Wakan is Deity/Magical, so yes it would be Pagan.

It was already answered.  Did you know....

Uku means "Dear One," but the meaning was changed to mean "Chief" when the men took over.

That Pic of the old sepia tone Native Bride is probably an Edward S, Curtis photo

he was a famous photographer of the 1800's ,and his original photos and lithos are quite expensive..you can spot his work thought,a master

I believe there are different tribal wedding outfits as per tribe...( nothern vs, southern, eastern,or western)..the Pacific Nothhwest Natives wear a lot of shells

remember the phrase wampum?

it was basically a string of shells,I have one....I guess trade is money, and vise versa

above is a picture taken at a wounded knee ceremony....armed forces and all

what have we become???

I feel that all stolen land should pass throught the government back to the people who have broken treaties that need attention......trying to get back the graveyard known as wounded knee is so wrong, it's ours, but someone got a big idea from the sale of the black Hills and is holding out for 41/2 million dollars, this time we are not buying it...

I love the photo with the quote, June.  The quote is very beautiful.  Great photos, Marie...I'm sorry you fell and I hope you didn't hurt yourself bad.    Hi Carlene and Goddess.

TAS, yes I remember the word wampum but I haven't thought of it in ages.   Why is there armed guards in the road?   Why don't they go and keep illegals from crossing our borders instead of harrassing U.S. citizens (the first Americans).   What is going on???  Are you saying Wounded Knee was taken away from the tribes by the government?   I don't know the history at all.    What happens to it if it is not purchased for 4 1/2 million dollars?   They make me sick (the government) and I wish there was a way to fight them and WIN!  Thanks for explaining about the various wedding attire for the different tribes.

Stolen land

Maddening that our government still is in the process of taking land away when they feel like it.

Not having any respect for those who first lived on the land is just wrong in every way. Vicki, you are right about protecting our borders instead of harrassing those who do no harm.

The Indian Prayer is beautiful too.

let me explain

Wounded knee is a graveyard. .it has no other value. The black hills are considered sacred as well, the center of the universe for the Sioux nation, both were stolen by the government and sold privately. .but the older owners allowed the tribe to gather there, they both were on sale,as the owner passed on, in the case of pe sla (black hills), which we bought for 9million last year. So the owner of wounded knee got the idea that he could sell a graveyard for over 4 million, because we didn't hold out on pe sla....very upsetting to say the least!

I feel so angry that white men (even though I am white) did this to indigenious people that were here way before we were!  Not only that but those men are greedy and thieves!  Is there any possibility that the Sioux can get (or regain) ownership of Wounded Knee without having to pay 4 million?  Are you saying that for 9 million both could have been purchased, TAS?

Vicky,it do not matter if you are white,it does not make you responsible for what those people did. There is good and bad people in every race,I take it on an individual basis. And yes, that land rightfully should be GIVEN to them, they should not have to pay any thing. It is just WRONG.They will pay,do not worry.Past, present, and future downpresser man, they all will pay.

I believe the double negative producing a positive is just a misunderstanding.

when she says that, she is changing her previous opinion of religion

to a total reversal

so,I do not take that personally, my beliefs are my own

and i don't presume to tell anyone what not to or to believe.

marie,You are most welcome, just do what I do, be tolerant of other people's belief so they are tolerant of mine, no need to put anything down...what if that's all they have?

I don't understand your posts, they conflict...do you or don't you have a place to stay, and aren't you still with dk?

what is it about a 2" mattress?..........

Vicky thanks for the superman pic,it's kinda satirical if you think about it,if there were a superman in the 1800's which side would he be on?the tonto paradigm, lol

Kaya, hope tp hear from you soon, the US gave the tribes "blood money" for broken treaties ,years ago...they won't touch it saying it's cursed, the treaties should be honored, but alas we live in a totally dysfuntional world...

Marie, that fish shows intolerance. You believe what you want,it is your choice. It would be wrong for me to make fun or be sarcastic to you for it.It is also wrong for you to make fun of what another person believes.Immature too.Grow up,ok.Stop being negative, and nasty to people. You woud have more friends if you take my advice. If you get offended because I told you something in a nice way, then that is your problem.

I find it profound that someone in their thirties is more mature than one in their seventies.

Marie, you need to learn tolerance.

That fish, I told you, is perplexing. And CRUEL!

tolerance

Tolerance to anothers belief is a sign of maturity, at least that's how I see it.  I am trying to follow along here but at times it gets pretty confusing and hard to understand.  Hoping for tolerance for all, no matter what they believe in or who gives them strength.  Just believe in  yourself, pray to whomever or maybe you don't pray, it is not for any of us to judge anothers beliefs, we should just take care of ourselves and play it forward.

I am going to open a new thread now but I would like to say a couple of things first.    June, those are lovely pictures you posted and I really like the Cherokee prayer.   Thank you.   Marie, I deleted the fish because as Carlene, Kaya and TAS said...it showed intolerance and cruelty.   Let's be respectful of other's beliefs even if we don't agree.  I wasn't pushing my God on you, I just said 'thank God'.   Oh, I like the picture of the indian on the horse...lovely.
