Okay ladies here is our new thread for us to chat in and post off topic links and petitions.
TAS, thank you for inviting new members, it's great to see our group growing.
Good morning. I have still been trying to get rid of this virus for about 2 weeks now. Nothing wants to get rid of it fast-steaming, zicam, herbal tea with honey/cinnamon, extra Vit. C, garlic, Airborne, Dayquil, nada. I wish I had something that would knock it out by tomorrow. It's breaking up, but lingering, and makes me tired. I'm not contagious anymore, but I just want it to be completely gone, as I'm leaving for a few days on the 4th.
I have to go today and look for a couple extra things I need to take on the trip, then come home and iron, pack. This stuff is still in my sinuses, head and chest,--any ideas of fast knock it out help?
Ginger!!!!!! Tea, candied, reduces inflammation
And helps fight your symptoms. ..
GOOD LUCK! !! Gotta run, buff hugs
Thanks for the new thread, Vicky
Hi Sherry, I'm not one to push meds and wonder if you've been to the doctor with your illness? You may need a antibiotic to get rid of it. If you have already seen your doc you may want to try the NeilMed SinuFlo Ready Rinse. Use as directed, it does wonders for clogged sinuses. Also, try Musinex, very good for chest and nasal congestion. Good luck and hope you feel better soon.
@ Tas, I love candied ginger, take it hiking for stomach issues too.
Have a nice weekend everyone!
Sorry I didn't open this thread before but I was kind of waiting for the other one to fill up first. Didn't realize it was so confusing but I see now where it could be. It is pouring down rain.....5th day now. It hasn't poured the whole time but quite a bit and we still have to go til Tuesday with it. I want to get in my new pool so bad but I am grateful that the rainwater has not gotten into the pool. Let's just pray the filter still works as it got somewhat wet.
TAS, are you saying there is Candied Ginger Tea? Where do you get it? A health food store? Do you add anything to it? Be safe!
Sherry, so sorry that virus is lingering.....that's an awful long time. Where are you going on your trip? Maybe you should rest til 2 days before so you don't overdo it. My mom was taking Prilosec for her stomach problems but then started taking local honey when her stomach started hurting. Got rid of the ache right away....a lot better than Prilosec. Of course the tea TAS suggested should be good for your inflammation. I hope you have a fun trip and that you will be well.
Hi Carlene. Good suggestions, too for Sherry. Do you have any plans for this weekend? Too rainy for me to go anywhere....not that I have anywhere to go. lol
Buff hugs, too.
Hi, Thank you Tasunka and Carlene. I haven't been to the doctor. I thought if this dared to go another week, I will. I have put ginger spice in Airborne tea. Raw probably would be better.
Carlene, is NeilMed SinuFlo Ready Rinse, something I can buy over the counter?
I have used saline nose spray off and on, and steamed over Vicks in water. I have some Mucinex tabs here I am planning on taking with me when I leave in a few days. Says it's good for 12 hours.
Yes Sherry, you can buy the NeilMed over the counter and I don't think it's very expensive either. It's a sinus rinse so maybe on the order of the saling nose spray you've been using but not a spray, you squirt the stuff into your nose.
Hope this helps.
Hi Vicki and all, Yes we do have plans this weekend. Our grand daughter is here till tomorrow evening, right now she is at our daughter's house with the new baby and her cousin. I volunteered in her class yesterday for the last time this year, she gets out of school on June 11th then into 5th grade on July 28th. She is in a year-round school so has a shorter summer vacation but other times during the year she is off to make up for it. Tonight we are having pizza with friends and they'll have their grandson who is just 1 yr older than Danielle so the kids will play while we visit.
OMG, I wish we could have some of your rain! We are parched and dry here in California. They say we may get a teensy little sprinkle early next week but we need some serious gully-washers really. With summer fast approaching we are in dire straights all up and down the state.
Glad the honey helped your mom Vicki, so much better than Prilosec and cheaper too!
Thank you Carlene. I will look for that tomorrow! How's that new grandbaby? I had my little granddaughter all day yesterday, then my grandson when I picked him up from school. My daughter says I'm not contagious anymore, but I still wear a mask till this is completyely gone.
Glad the honey helped your Mom too, Vicky. Honey, I know, is good for a lot of thigs also. I know eating raw garlic (if one can do it) is really good for you too. But you're supposed to drink a lot of water if you do that also. I ate some I chopped up a little while earlier, and it about set my mouth on fire, so there was no problem guzzling down some water after that! Haha. I am actually going to do it again here in a minute, and have a cup of Airborne tea w/honey, cinnamon and ginger, and I think call it a night.
Vicky, I am getting ready to leave on the 4th for a few days, to the Texas State Convention. A first for me. I understand the place is huge, so I am glad I went and got a pair of shoes w/memory foam soles. There will be a lot going on there, so will be exciting, if tiring. I'm looking forward to it.
Aww, Marie-it sounds like you are having such a wonderful time! I am glad for you. Enjoy sailing off to the Virgin Islands. I want to hear all about it! I'm going to get my hair done in a couple days. Been a long time since I had a manicure, even longer since I had a pedicure. I love fake fingernails, only had them twice, but they are a pain for me when coming off, as I never kept them filled in. I found that I am not one who can wear them very long. My own get soft from it, and I had a problem for a long time with one nail wanting to crack vertically afterwards. Another person I knew had the same problem.
Well, to all a good night. I went to a meet this afternoon, hearing more about what to expect at the Convention, and now I just want to go relax.
Have a good night ladies!
Marie, as I said in my earlier post, the honey has to be from local bees within a 40 mile radius; not the store bought kind. Have a good time on your sail to the Virgin Islands. You sure are leading an exciting life now. A far cry from the shelter in the cold winter in Canada.
Sherry, I LOVE to eat raw garlic. Of course if the people around me aren't eating it then they may not like me to be around. hahahaha! It can also sweat out of your pores. I sure hope you feel good for your trip. Have a good time at the convention and tell us all about it when you return. Didn't you say you will be gone a week?
Carelene, it sounds like you are having a wonderful weekend with your grandchildren. We had pizza earlier, too. No more volunteering at your granddaughter's school this year; does that mean you will volunteer again next year? I sure wish I could send you some of this rain. There are probably lots of places in the country that need it and I'd be willing to share it.

Lol, let's see how long before we hear that the orange is green with seasickness. ...
It's a long trip, and the wrong time of year to go that direction
Hurricanes. ..big seas...no one is ever prepared!
...have no idea what that even means?
Vicky, I will be leaving tomorrow, but will probably be returning either Sat. or Sun.
I have been using the Rinse Carlene told me about. it seems to help a little, but my dang head still doesn't feel completely clear, and I feel tired. I'm thinking of going and gettingsome of those littlembottles of 5 hr. energy drinks (they are supposed to be herbal from my understanding), and trying a 1/2 bottle to see if I think it works with me. They are small, so easy to carry, which is something I need. I don't want something that makes me feel jittery, or makes me feel funny!
Sherry, don't do it!
It's garbage, you need to boost your immune system not kill it!!!
That stuff is caffeine, bs sugar substance, a tiny drop of b vitamin in chemical form...you need to buy probiotics, and boost your system with it...yogurts, Kefir, Kombucha, please before you drink that crap, read the label, it's really the worst stuff...I will suggest a thousand other things better...just ask.
Oh, and btw, I researched them, because I had a good idea I thought at the time to design vitamin coffee.
But in my research, I found the reason why no one has done it, caffeine inhibits vitamin absorption, so any vitamin that might be in that drink would not be of any value..it's caffeine in marketed sheep's clothing.
Glad I came back before signing off! If that's all it is, I'd rather get my caffeine in coffee in the morning, which I do drink, but only in the morning, not all day like some people do.
I think I may go get some Vit. Super B in the morning before I go, or B-12. Someone suggested that, and it may help out w/energy for the few days I'll be gone anyway.
Hitting the hay. Good night everyone. See ya when I get back. Stay happy, healthy and all around good. Have fun & take care!
That darn orange...it went from being annoying to phycho. That is what you get for being fruity, lol!Hi,everyone.I want some licorice.Anyone else want some. That lady in the corner store has some that taste like orange and grape crush,I want some of them.
Actually, licorice would be great for Sherry as it's an expectorant, ,, Gabra, you're a genius!!
This post was modified from its original form on 05 Jun, 11:50
Orange has returned with a nasty bitterness. Yep, I'll take the licorice and also come red licorice too, the soft kind. Love it Gabra!
I like black licorice. It helps migraines. Some one here is a headache.
Sorry, I had to delete that first nasty post
Psycho is a good description, Gabra.
It was Google search material, I already got a hyperlinked Google image from her on my profile, , why she's blocked.
I just cannot understand why she chose this route. ?
Oh my I guess the medicine has worn off. Orange was actually nice for a bit but now she has resorted back. Sherry, TAS is right...do not drink those energy drinks....they are not good for you and I'm sure will make you jittery. Besides who knows what the heck is really in them? Be very careful of stuff like that. Kaya, I'm craving some black licorice now...my mom loves the red. I never heard of orange or grape crush but it sounds good. Maybe they could throw in a cotton candy one. lol Not sure if Marie will be back but I thought I posted the other night thanking her for the cute squirrel. Sherry, how was your trip? You've already gone and come back. haha! I hope you had a good time. Well good night ladies.
OK, Orange is now the new black and not in a pleasant way. I loved the licorice though! To be honest I don't know much about those 'herbs' but could that in any way cause a 'orange' event?
Gabra, I love your sense of humor and your way of redirecting!
Sherry, Here I go again... but I'm starting to think you should maybe see your doctor if you are still ill. I know 5 people who've had pneumonia this spring and all but one have had the pneumonia shot. I do hope you are feeling better now though and want to ditto what Tas and Vicki said about those energy drinks.
Vicki, I'm with your mom, love the red licorice the best and the soft rope kind too, not the chewey kind.
Our grand daughter's 10th birthday party is tomorrow so will be busy. It's hot here too, tomorrow supposed to hit mid 90's and on Sunday up to 100+. Anyone got some rain to send my way?
Carlene, you're pretty funny yourself, lol
An orange event,, haha
I wish she had too much herb, she would be nicer, or pass out, either way works for me.
Thanks for coming to the rescue Vicky,, we will take a break from the orange, and see what happens.
A quick hello to everybody. It was very hot here today...it is 6 pm and the temp is 90 degrees although the heat index is still at 105 degrees. And it's a very humid 105....you can't breathe. Thank goodness I had my lovely pool to soak in for a little while. Do you think my graphic is funny? I should be nice. Sorry. Good night ladies.
A very good likeness I bet,we deserve to get a little mean, and not feel guilty
btw...the post that was the worst, you didn't see it was aimed my way,and had my full name spelled out, with a bunch of swear words added
it showed up on google, and care2 search,so I deleted it...the hyperlinked yacht is still on my page,it goes to some boat show in florida??
she is so full of it...lol
just came back from sailing the bay into the city harbor, saw the Aircraft carrier, the us Nimitz,it's a museum ship here.
Have a great night, and the orange is unjoined....yippee
I went to check the orange's page,I don't know what she posted on her new profile, but it is really dangerous,,my computer warned me if I proceeded I would absolutely contract a virus...be very,very,careful...
I didn't go there, I went there this morning, and this group was not listed anymore, nor any of my other groups,,,she unjoined it all
Wow TAS....I was just reading your last post and all of a sudden my screen went black with some some kind of information that I didn't have time to read before it cut my computer off. Very strange. What are how does someone post something that could be a virus? Trying to learn. You're right TAS...I didn't see her nasty post directed to you....I'm glad you deleted it. I deleted one last night, too. I just don't understand how she changes personalities that quick and become that mean and nasty and delusional.
This post was modified from its original form on 07 Jun, 17:32
she copies any thing she sees on google that fit her stories
and some of those sites aren't trustworty,,,or they hyperlink,or some other weird problem...
I am just glad to be rid of it,I deleted the comments off my page
Her friends from another group are all complaining about the warnings about her page..apparently she now wants everyone to believe she's settling in the Bahamas, lol
I have warned them about the hyperlinks, they already have figured it out. ..

I'm back, and tired. Been an eventful few days.
Umm, I don't care for licorice, unless it is the Aussie red. My husband loves it, & he waves it for fun sometimes under my nose, because he knows I don't like it, telling me how good it is. Funny guy. I am however left with only a cough, higher, so getting gone, and the nose isn't near as bad. Sure likes taking it's time.
I'm so tired right now-didn't get back in till very late, or to bed till around 3AM, as the ladies I rode with wanted to take a detour and see their great granddaughter and great niece who was having a grad party at their home. It was nice, but I'm just worn out now, as I did drive the car belonging to one of the ladies. A nice Cadillac, which I've never driven, but let me tell ya, I am so glad I did the driving, after the experience of driving part of the way going to Houston, was done by the owner of the caddy. -- On edge. Wonder we made it there in one piece. Wonderful ladies, I love 'em, just saying that it's an experience to ride with either, & "eye opening, " not meaning in the sense of learning something you didn't know, but what was I thinkin'? ! LOL
Heavens! Not Houston. The Convention was in Fort Worth. Yep, I'm tired. I was up at 6AM to boot. Think I'll go take it easy and just lounge around most of the rest of today. See ya later!
TAS, I wonder if she ever left Canada at all. Probably did...I'm just funnin'
Sherry, I'm glad you made it home safe and that your cold is finally leaving. Yes it has been a long time but I heard a few months ago that there was a bad strain of a cold going around that lasts a long time. I guess you were one of the 'lucky' recipients. After that long drive to Ft. Worth and then stopping for the grad party I know you are bone tired. It will probably take you a day or two to catch up on sleep/rest.
I don't know where the other ladies are but hello wherever you are.
Yep, I'm still feeling it Vicky. Sinuses still partially stuffed and the coughing. But it is dwindling. Never had anything hang on so tough and hard, no matter what I used, natural also, to try and cut it. It acts like something that is immune to anything, and just has to run it's course.
Oh, one of the things I stood up for at the Convention was funding for study of medicinal marijuana. Not every delegate in each district stood together on this issue either, so I am proud to say, that there are definitely republicans for this, but sadly, IMO, just not enough here anyway. I think when it comes to the facts or knowledge of it, some are just actually ignorant to the facts, only having heard mostly the propoganda of it, so sadly that didn't make it, though I saw a lot stand for it, just not enough there.
I hope your cold or whatever it is will hurry and leave, Sherry. I know you must be miserable with it hanging on so long. Yes, it figures the medical marijuana funding didn't pass. People would rather stick man made crapola in their bodies instead of using organic, from the earth remedies. Maybe one day..... At least you stood strong. Good for you.
Hi TAS. Where are the other ladies I wonder? Orange is gone and so are they. I hope they come back.
I know they will, don't worry
Remember, they work long hours, and have lots of young children.
More active when the orange was spamming my page and my groups, but remember most of what she wrote was total nonsense, or just plain nasty!
So, it turns out you were right, Vicky
The orange never left Canada.
I guess she couldn't keep up the charades, and got caught in a lie, because there is an apology, kind of, lol
On her profile, and she apologized to another group for all the lying, and admitted she is in a shelter in Canada, Vancouver, bit I still don't know what to believe¿¿
Are you kidding me, TAS????? She never left Canada all this time? No Dave, no cruise, no New York? Wow....unbelievable. I am speechless as I believed everything she said and was happy for her.
I just went to her page and I guess that could be interpreted as a sort of apology. She said if there are any questions to ask her. I will never do that again. Remember a few months ago I was very innocently asking her a question or two in the chat thread, like I do everyone to get to know them better, and she flipped out and more or less told me it was none of my business and not to be so nosey.
Where is Sherry, Carlene, Gabra and Kaya? Did our group make them mad? I hope not.
I love it Kaya! I think I will 'borrow' it.
HAS ANYONE SEEN OR HEARD FROM JUNE?
I HEARD SHE CLOSED HER GROUP. .Ben missing from the groups we share, almost afraid to pm her and get no answer, my other friend is stalking her to no avail, lol
Not stalking, just worried!
Hi peoples! Are we orange free yet? LOL!!!!!! Just wanted to say hello, going to check for petitions now.I am making salt fish, corn bread, and ackee!want some?Hugs.
TAS, I was wondering the same thing about June. She belongs to our 'trees' group and she hasn't posted in a couple of weeks. I don't know her last name or I'd look on Facebook. Wow! I would have never realized that the word 'horse' was on it's body. He sure is nice looking. Funny orange. lol Where is Kaya? I haven't seen her in a while either. Thanks Gabra for signing petitions. How do you make Saltfish and what is Ackee? I love fish so I'll take some. lol
Ackee and Saltfish recipe
.1/2 lb Saltfish (dried, salted codfish)
. 12 fresh ackees or 1 (drained) can of tinned ackees
. 1 medium onion
.1/2 tsp black pepper
.3 tbsp of butter
.1/2 a hot chilli pepper
.1 sweet pepper
. 1 chopped tomato
.1 sprig fresh thyme or 1 tsp dried thyme
.2 cloves of garlic
.4 Scallion (or spring onions)
.6 Slices of bacon
1.Cover the saltfish in cold water. Let soak overnight (minimum 8 hours) changing the water several times (this removes most of the salt)
2.Bring a pan of cold water to the boil and gently simmer the fish for 20 minutes (until the fish is tender).
3.Chop the onion, sweet pepper, chilli pepper and tomato.
4.remove the fish from water and allow to cool.
Remove all of bones and skin then flake the flesh of the fish.
5.Melt the butter in a frying pan and stir fry the onion, black pepper, sweet pepper, chilli and thyme for about 3 minutes.
6.dd the tomatoes and flaked fish and stir-fry for another 10 minutes
7.Add the Ackee and cook until hot throughout. Stir gently to avoid breaking-up the Ackee
serve with yam,green banana,fried dumpling,irish potatoe.

Hi,June.I missed you.Glad you are back.

Someone should draw a cartoon of a water melo smashing an orange....lol....
Well, that is a dying tree, I didn't say cause I thought it was mean, Lmao Kaya, ,, she is so upset now because she has no real friends to bug, or groups that will let her go on and on, plus now no one believes anything she says, so her page says she left...I would bet the farm she's lurking, and reading everything we write, kinda why I'm yanking her Chain...she never answered my post, btw...what did she expect? You just can't keep lying forever, especially about boating to someone who knows the ocean and the islands.
This post was modified from its original form on 20 Jun, 15:32
Hi June & Kaya! Good to see both of you again. I love your graphic, June...cute the way the horse is stomping his foot and bowing his head. Thanks for posting the recipe Kaya....sounds tasty. You and TAS are soooo funny with the orange tree photo and the melon smashing an orange idea. Well she showed up in one of my other groups one day and totally shocked me. She was very respectful of everyone while participating in the game threads. Well I just wanted to drop in and say 'hi'. Wow, it's the weekend already. Have a good one everybody.
Iconic Bison Could Join Eagle as National Symbol
First the iconic bison got its own day, and now it could join the eagle as a national animal.
Congress is going to consider a bill "to adopt the bison as the national mammal of the United States.
A BOOM DRAW OF HERB IS BY MI BED SIDE.......
Thanks June, we've been wanting this for a very long time.
Gabra have a great day off, have fun..not hard for such a fun person as you...Buff hugs to you and all buffs.
Maybe going sailing soon, sun just came out.
That would be awesome for the bison to join the eagle as our National animal! They both deserve it and I hope it comes to fruition; maybe then they (bison) will be left alone to roam freely as they should. I only hope they don't mix them with the domesticated bison. I wonder when a decision on making the bison another National symbol will be made.

Amazing is an understatement, she has the most amazing voice. ..
Perfect to lie in bed and relax too.
Too many barbecues on the dock at first but her voice was so powerful that she drowned them out, and they left when darkness came...she played for over 2 hours,3 encores. ..unusual for here, more than usual fortunately. .
Signed June! Thanks for posting. I love your graphic...so pretty.
I'm glad you enjoyed Sarah Maclachlan so much, TAS. Sounds like you had the perfect set up....laying back and relaxing.
I signed them June.Thank you.
Great quote, TAS. Where is EVERYONE? It seems when orange disappeared so did everyone else. I mean we have sporadic visitors but not like it used to be.
I signed all the petitions so thank you June for posting. Our grand daughter stayed with us for 2 weeks, she went home after the fireworks on the 4th.
I went on Care2 as much as I could to sign petitions and made a few comments on threads but that was it. Will be around more now and try and catch up on everything. Hope everyone is having a good summer!
Hi Carlene! Glad to have you back...I missed you. I bet you had a handful with your little granddaughter around for those 2 weeks. They have soooo much energy.
Not sure what's happened to Kaya, Gabra, June, Sherry and TAS.
Busy, I'm sure, kids, jobs. .life..

What terrible news...
Gabra, please let Kaya know that it is me asking where everyone is and I'm not paranoid. I do this in all my groups if someone I'm used to seeing isn't around for a few days. It's my way of letting people know that I miss them. However, I'll quit asking as I don't want anyone to take offence;
Thanks everyone for signing & sharing the petitions that are being posted in our group. The animals need all the help they can get....plus any other causes.
Haha...Vicky,I was joking.I am not that easily offended, lighten up. It ok! Signed the petitions, thank you.
What is the deal w/wanting to drill in Yellowstone? We have plenty of places in the US to drill, w/out having to ruin one of the most beautiful places we have.
Babaysitting on and off lately. Some days longer than others so far. Probably change come September. Anyway, sat this morning while daughter was at school, came home, then baby came to Grandmas so daughter could go to work. I get on the puter some when baby sleeps, if I babysit at my house. Gotta babysit in the morning again, then will be gone downtown for a bit. Anyway, going to say goodnight, go take a shower, and go to bed.
Have a good evening ladies.
Cool, Kaya. Marie, got offended when I tried to respond to her posts and get to know heri....thought I was nosy or something...which I wasn't. Just being socialable (or trying to be). So I never know what might set someone off. Thanks for signing the petitions.
Hi Sherry.....good to see you again. Sounds like you've been real busy babysitting. Your daughter must be tired after school and work...I'm sure she appreciates your helping her with the baby. You're a good granny. Yes, it's sickening about them wanting to drill in one of our most pristine areas like Yellowstone!

Now it's Vicky that's gone missing¿
Here I am, TAS. I didn't realize I hadn't posted in so long. So many groups to visit but I try not to forget this one. It's easy for one person to be missed now with so few coming around. Do you have plans for this weekend?
June, thanks for the video of the tatanka. How about you June....any weekend plans?
I'll try to be back tomorrow....if not it will be Sunday.
Saturday has become our "official sailing day"try not to miss one...although ready to sail any day we don't have workmen here
How bout you?
We went sailing in complete fog,,,, but we're rewarded by a pod of dolphin playing in the inlet, they jumped around us going out, and we miraculously caught up with them on our way back in....Fyre was having a long conversation with them ...he adores "flippies"..hope everyone is having a great weekend
Hi TAS, Gabra & Kaya. We had blessed rain tonight....we needed it so badly and it cooled things off for a bit. I went to see my friend Danny yesterday but that was about it for the weekend stuff except for church today. TAS, how awesome that you got see dolphin playing and then saw them again on your way back in. I would love it! Not sure if I'd be brave enough to sail in complete fog....in fact I know I wouldn't. Glad you all made it back safely. I didn't realize that today was Friendship Day. Thanks for the reminder. Gabra, I love the Bob Marley quote and Kaya the puppy is adorable.
The weather is so nice , everyone I know is inviting themselves to visit, and loads of great concerts doesn't hurt...so busy all of a sudden. ..we got rain too, and so did Jamaica. ..yesterday was their independence day...
Will try to pop in between sailing, music and guests...tonight is the Lynyrd skynyrd concert. .
HAVE A WONDERFUL weekend! !
Our heat index is in the 100's right now and VERY HUMID. Hard to breathe. We got a little more rain yesterday which was a good thing. TAS do they have those concerts all summer? I thought they would have been over by now....how wonderful that you get to hear them often and that your weather has been nice. I've seen Lynyrd Synyrd before....they were good. Have a great weekend and enjoy your friends!
I thought that Lynard Skynard people died from a plane crash?Or they replace people, like the wailers?I.D.K. aNY WAY,ENJOY YOUR CONCERT,THEY SOUND LIKE THEY ARE CLASSIC ROCK AND ROLL MIX WITH COUNTRY MUSIC.It had to be explained to me why some blacks in the states were offended by the confederate flag.I do not think they mean it that way.Hi Vicky,June, and every one else. For those who like this band, here is the song that I like:enjoy.
Hugs to you all.
I don't remember that song, Kaya but I sure like it.....that is some good Southern rock. Thanks for posting it. Have a great weekend if I don't make it back here tomorrow and hugs to U 2.
Love the quotes and the puppy picture and the LS song, hadn't heard that one.
Grand daughter started back to school last Tues. A short 6 week vacation for her, she was here so much of the summer, we miss seeing her every day! Also been helping our daughter out with the new baby, Cade, who is doing fantastic. Just turned 3 mos old on Aug 1, time does fly I think. Vicki, glad you got some rain and Tas also, up here in Northern Calif. we got a few sprinkles the other day but that's it and now they are saying our El Nino may not materialize either. I leave out a bowl of fresh water every night in the front of our house for any thirsty animals who wander by. Also, new birds showing up in our back yard so they are needing water from the bird bath. I've been signing petitions as much as I can but don't even get to Care2 that much right now. When our summer is over I think I'll have more time, or hope I do! Hope all of you are doing well, enjoying the summer and are happy. I note that orange never came back....Have a wonderful evening everyone! Carlene
Hi group. Great tag, TAS and so true! Carlene! Good to see you again. I figured you were busy with your family during the summer....I know it will be lonely without granddaughter. Wow, Cade is 3 months old already? Time sure flies doesn't it? That is very kind that you put out water for the animals....especially since there is a shortage of rain.
Well I went to a barbecue today and am tired so I will be signing off. Not sure if I got this quote from someone in this group or not.

Surprise concert last night. ..a celebrity wedding booked the concert venue, and had a series of performances by different people during the wedding, too private to hear, but then DAVE MASON gave a 2 hour concert!!
I have company, but my girlfriend and I laid together in her bunk and listened, she fell asleep by the end, but I was just loving everything, especially my little sister, who is a veterinarian college major and has been fyres sitter for 2 years now, he's in Heaven, he loves her soooooo much!
How awesome TAS that you have the pleasure of the free concerts....I bet that and the roil of the ocean as you lay in bed is so relaxing. That would lull me to sleep. Z-Z-Z-Z-Z (the Z's represent snoring in case you don't know)
I was talking to her about his last song,"all along the watchtower"and how it was written by Bob Dylan, sung also by Jimi Hendrix, and Dave mason, and then I looked down and realized she had fallen asleep, too young to snore ...only 21...
That is so funny, TAS. Nothing like talking to yourself, huh? lol I just had to post this graphic even though it's not a Yellowstone/Montana/Wyoming animal.
Hugging all my buffs today,Have a great day, pass on the hugs to your care2 friends...
Signed the petition, TAS. I love the elephant hugs!
I signed the petition.Hi everyone,how are you?Hope you had a fantastic weekend.Thank you for the petition.Love you guys!(I sound like Kaya.lol.)
SALT COD GUMBO WITH CHESTNUTS (ARBRE A PAIN) and CALLALOU (OKRA)
Here are the ingredients:
- 1-2lbs Salt Cod Filet (easier to use, has no bones)
- 1 Onions diced
- 1lbs of Arbre a pin (Chesnut or Chateigne) - boiled
- ½ lbs of Okra
- 1 bunch of parsley (chopped roughly)
- 1 Hot pepper (choice)
- 4oz of butter
- 1oz Olive Oil
- Adobo seasoning to taste (can be found in any Caribbean Market)
- Cracked black pepper to taste
- 4oz of seafood stock (preferred or water)
- 1oz of chopped garlic
- 2tbsp of lime juice
- If you have the time, I would prefer to un-salt the cod in cold water. You will need to repeat the process 2 or 3 times until you most of the salt cured is gone. The best way to know, is to taste a little bit of the fish to control the sodium content. Once you have repeated the process a few times, with your fingers, pull the flesh apart until you have tiny little pieces. If you don’t want to waste that time, you can put the fish in cold water and bring to a boil, that process will give you the same result however I don’t really like to do it as it takes away from its original flavor. Remember you are using a product that has been cured in salt, thus it is fully cooked.
- In a pre-heated pan, add half of your butter and olive oil together, add your onions and let them sweat until translucent for a few minutes. Add garlic and the pulled cod and cook for a minute, then add the “Arbre a Pin” or pre-cooked chestnuts, then add fish stock or water and let reduce.
- Quickly add the okra, it will softened quickly, you want it still firm not mushy.
- Add the Hot pepper whole for flavor and season properly tasting until you can reach your desired flavors.
- Turn off your fire and add the lime juice and the rest of the butter. Finish the dish with the chopped parsley.
- You will notice that I did not add any additional salt, it is not necessary, as the cod should still have some salt still in the product, thus there is no need to add anymore.
- Always taste however to make sure it is to your likings.
- In a Plate, put your cooked white rice, and gently add your cod and the sauce on the plate.
- Simple dish, easy to make, but you will let me know what you think I hope.
The recipe sounds delicious, Kaya but I'm sure easier for you to make than me. lol TAS very pretty feather on the lovely blue water. What bands have been playing lately? Have a great week everyone!

Here ya go TAS:
Silencing the Thunder from Forest Clay Productions Every year hundreds of Yellowstone National Park bison are shot and aggressively chased by helicopters and ATVs back into the park to prevent disease transmission to domestic cattle herds in Montana. Bison advocates believe the disease brucellosis is the primary stumbling block to restoring America’s last wild-bison population. Meanwhile, the ranching community believes the current management is the only way to protect their economic and cultural way of life from collapse. Silencing the Thunder takes a deeper look into the controversial management of Yellowstone National Park bison and questions whether this iconic species should be lethally managed to control the spread of brucellosis. Please watch this beautiful video: http://vimeo.com/104296498
Mine were started when I was a baby.IDK about his.
Haha, KK, we both posted the vimeo at the same time.
Great minds think alike! !
Wow Kaya...you've been growing your dreds since you were a baby? That is awesome. The brucelliosis myth is indeed the stumbling block to restoring the bison to the lands that are rightfully theirs. There is not one documented case of a bison giving brucelliosis to a cow or other animal. The cattle are the ones that brought it here from England when they transported them here. I would love to watch the video if it does not show the bison being shot or hurt. I cannot bear to see that.
TAS, Holly just posted that link in another group that she and I are in and I signed already. Thank you for sharing it.
Want to know what is hilariously funny about this stereotypical joke???? Almost ALL of the blacks I know are VEGANS. A black vegan, now THAT is FUNNY!!!!!

Whites should be eating the healthy southern foods like Kale...now I would chase someone down for a good kale dish, lol
Let them die of obesity, toxic chemicals, and cancer.

Should the U.S. Force These Rare Wolves Into Captivity?
This week the public has a last chance to influence a decision on whether to remove the Mexican gray wolf and the red wolf from the wild.
The future of two rare kinds of wolves hangs in the balance this month.
The reason? The United States Fish and Wildlife Service has issued a final call for public comment about the Mexican gray wolf and the red wolf—each subspecies has fewer than 100 animals left in the wild—and those opinions could help determine if the wolves will be allowed to expand their existing habitats, or even remain free at all.
This is horrible! Not only are wild animals being forced into captivity but I think people are too! We are being controlled and made to live under certain thumbs if you know what I mean. I rue the day when all beautiful wild creatures will be living in a controlled environment. Does anyone see what is happening here???
Signed, thanks Gabby
,have you heard anything?
Headed out sailing today
Vicky, we have 170 replies to this thread.
Maybe we should start a new one?
song:bob marley-buffalo soldier(it goes with the petition)
This post was modified from its original form on 25 Sep, 11:28
Unfortunately, the buffalo soldiers, through no decision of their own were used to kill native Americans.
Even Bob Marley didn't know that.
TAS I will start a new thread after this. 170 posts? Wow! I signed all the petitions and Kaya those were 2 beautiful videos. TAS, beautiful whales but it makes me sick that they will be hunted!
Dolphins, And this is a yearly hunt, turns the sea red .
Finally a major news organization is covering it.
