Read the transcript: When I first met Eric [Clapton], it was in Los Angeles at a mutual friend of ours house. He told me that he'd been carrying around this acetate of [The Band’s debut album] Big Pink and he said it was having a real deep effect on him and that he felt like the music that he was making with Cream was no longer valid and that he was leaving the group. I thought … I didn't know how, you know, you don't want to say, "Right on.” So I said, "That's kinda disappointing. I like Cream's music.” And he said "Well, I don't.” I said, “Okay.” And the next thing, a couple months later he called me and asked if he could come to Woodstock and just visit. He said, "I've never been there. I'd like to just see what you guys do up there.” You know, I mean, I thought he was like … there must be something in the water, because his compliments for the music at that time were really wonderful and very generous of him. So he came to Woodstock and we're hanging out and one day he says, "Well, maybe, should we go somewhere, we can get some instruments and we could all like, maybe we could jam.” And I said, "We don't jam.” And he was like, "Oh, okay.” And then years later he said, "I thought if we jammed, I could play some flashy guitar, and then I'd work up enough nerve to say, hey why don't I join the group here?" He said, "But I didn't get to do my thing, so I never worked up the nerve to ask you". And I said, "Well, were you insinuating that … I'm the guitar player in the group.” [ send green star]

Better than alright, actually. He co-wrote the award-winning screenplay to Johnny Tootall and the APTN short, Clean Fight; working alongside some of the top names in Native film including Shirley Cheechoo, Nathaniel Arcand, Sheila Tousey and Adam Beach. Currently, his script about a Native superhero is in the final stages of development with a producer already on board; we will be providing updates about this new project in the coming weeks. As we await his next feature, Genaille is sharing with us a glimpse into his quirky humorous sensibilities. At least, some people might find it quirky. Lorne Olson literally lived on the streets of Winnipeg as a teenager with little hope and less of a future. He turned his life around and today is a filmmaker and production assistant for APTN. His film, Apples and Indians, is only five minutes long, but it is a powerful, yet sardonic commentary on the touchy issue of Native identity.
