Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Dan Nica announced late last week that he had signed the Order commissioning the Danube Delta Police unit.
The new police force numbers 100 people from the border police and the Romanian Police and it is equipped with a-two-digit number of very fast boats, helicopters with infrared cameras and thermovision and a flood-light of a 2-km range, Minister Nica said.
It has a very silent helicopter, which can film the poachers from a very long distance, and it provides information to the land police crews that go and catch the trespassers. Also fishermen using electric current and nylon monofilament nets will be in big trouble from now on, Minister Nica stressed.
