Horror/Mystery Thread: Suspense April 04, 2008 9:49 AM

I just read HUSH, by Anne Fraiser. It's her first suspense novel. It's a serial-killer vs. cop story. While a lot of it is predictable, it's still a thrill to read! Check it out at your library or used bookstore! What recommendations do you have for Horror or Mystery?  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

Everyone knows Stephen King as the Master of Horror but I find some of his best (and scariest books) are those where he leaves the detailed stories behind and creates a psycological thriller. My favorite and definately the scariest book I've ever read was his The Long Walk. Got into Karin Slaughter a while ago as well. Really good female protagonist and great characters. Another sort of cop/doctor vs. the criminal type job but really good stories lines. These types of stories never appeal to me because they're always fairly predictable but she sucked me in from the start.  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

I'm really into the clasics, so I'd recommend Frankenstein. If you want a book full of twists and suspense you should read The Woman in White by Wilkie Collins. I couldn't put it down once I'd started!  [ send green star]  [ accepted]
