anonymous new guy in town April 19, 2008 3:09 PM

Hi all,
My wife and I are very engaged with animal welfare, and what is really going on on this world.
Reading all the things that happen behind closed doors, are frustrating us, and make us want to know more of it.
Things like 9/11, the Iraque, and Afganistan war, and all the tricks that are used, to make us believe this world needs one global government to help us out of this.
It's about time that people wake up, and go for it.
Now all that happens in this world is about money, and power.
Making people ill, and let them die of cancer, aids, and feeding the people bad food, water with chemicals, medicine that makes you even more ill, even chipping people (RFID), etc.
The rich are getting richer, the poor are getting poorer.
The slaves of the rich, and powerful are sent to warfare, and we all are being tricked, just to reduce the number of people on this earth, so that governments, and royal families can rule their slaves.
The wars, and the bloodshed needs to be ended now.
Please stand-up, and fight the regimes, that send our children to fight the unlucky, and innocent people, just for their power, and to make them even richer.

Thank you BMutiny for the invite.  This issue not only effects the American troops, but Canadians, and, the world.  So, very happy to join, indeed.

Barbara,

Thanks for inviting me.

I have come to the conclusion that we are, indeed, to a point where any and all options must be considered in order to put an end to this occupation.

THE SOONER THE BETTER!

SUSPICIOUS "new member"! June 08, 2007 12:06 AM

Welcome, all you new members, almost too many to count!

So, I won't try to name you all, please forgive me!

But, we had one "new member" the others wouldn't feel comfortable with.

He stated he was a Marine, which is fine; then he said that "with all our protests and rallies we were doing harm to the country."

I politely NM'd him that he had mis-understood the reason for the group; and deleted and blocked him. We have TOO MUCH WORK to do; and NO TIME for what wouldn've been endless, pointless, "discussions". If he wasn't some sort of a "plant" by the Bushies. He had NO friends and had JUST joined Care2! USUALLY THE SURE SIGN OF A PLANT. In NO other groups, either.

If anyone becomes aware of such a thing happening again, and I'm not right there, feel perfectly free to NM me about anyone suspicious!

Be AWARE that there have been MANY "plants" in groups I have been in. Their PURPOSE is to DISTRACT us from what we are doing! To cause fights, if they can; to make a group an ugly and uncomfortable place to be in and talk in, rather than a safe one.

THESE GUYS ARE PAID BY THE BUSHIES, THAT'S RIGHT, PAID BY THEM for what they do. It is their JOB. {They are recruited thru right-wing organizations and websites, which we have seen; thru churches.......}

This is NOT, you will understand, a question of "Freedom of Speech and opinion". There IS a VARIETY of opinion within this group; but, NOT that peace-lovers are HARMFUL. As I said, I and others have LOTS OF EXPERIENCE that these are people deliberately inserted into Liberal groups by the Far Right, in order to BREAK US APART. I have seen this happen in other groups.

I know this "person" was NOT RECRUITED BY ANY OF YOU!!!

ah, add afganistan to that unless peace keeping, we're both there with NATO, they are asking for more AID, NOT MILITARY, and Harper it really pushing for these, we are also in Hati for decades which I don't think many Canadians know, or the $ poured in to set up governments NATO wants. If Harper get's in again, he will back Bush, and anyone promoting war disgusies as peacekeeping when in fact it is not. there are stats posted on by group by Craig a member here.

Also there are some very good video's, movies on this and other related that show the planning for years, the relations, relatives, links, I haven't checked if there is a thread fo rthat yet, I watched a really good one a few nights back.

I joined  abit back, no intro, I join in solidarity as a Human Being and a Canadian who would like to see our troops/country related issues allowed here as well as supporting the troops to get out of Iraq and those speaking out. The Liberals got their foot in the door (more with UN), and Harper bushite (less with UN) is backing bush on almost everything (bilderberger)

I feel it is important to realized that this isn't just a USA issue, it affects us all worldwide, especially with NATO and the SPP, and espeically those in the countries being adversly affected.

I am not here to debate but as far as I know Harper can not be impeaced, it is called a vote of non-conficence here, or high crimes against the Queen (monarchies) someone mentioned, who has increasingly little to do with our country, and I hope less so as time goes progresses.

thanks for the invite!  I am here....please let me know how I can help!  I belong to a group called "Soldiers Angels" that emails those who "just need someone to talk to"... alot of guys join our armed forces becuz they have no family, and then of course, those that  were promised the "moon" for joining, return, shattered and broken by promises that were never meant to be kept!!! I grew up in Arlington, VA....my mom retired from the Pentagon (defense dept, USMC) several yrs ago. I was there as part of the Red Cross at 9/11. I think we need to bring our troops home, plain and simple.  I am HERE!  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

Ann, Jacqueline, Carla, Michael, Carole!

Welcome to the FIGHT!

We have a new thread for those who have undergone personal losses BECAUSE OF BUSHCO'S LIES. We are not going to TAKE THIS SITTING DOWN!

We focus on the TROOPS; and, also, on Iraqi citizens who we must never forget, have SUFFERED DEVASTATING LOSSES in their families and communities as well.

We have the POWER to turn Grief, into SPIRITUAL RENEWAL.

Your heartening personal strength June 03, 2007 8:53 AM

I look across these messages and this group, and I am deeply heartened.

Since I was imprisoned for refusing anything to do with Viet Nam, or attacking others, I found that almost all the people who returned from there became disillusioned in the literal sense.

Most did not speak in any public way, yet most perhaps later became the "my country right or wrong" slavish followers - numerous psych experiments show that people will choose what they obviously know is wrong, if the general consensus claims the wrong answer as the correct one.

To overcome this weakness of humans is the greatest challenge, yet,  those who enter this place have done so, so it is possible!

HI June 02, 2007 2:47 PM

Thanx for the invite BMutiny - I am very interested in this topic and feel great compassion for the soldiers and their families in fact all of America that you should be subjected to the dictates of an obviously unbalanced man and an even greater liar - I have no time for liars - they undermine the intelligence of others!!

I agree if the Military took matters into their own hands and just came on home - where would Bush and his little entourage be without them?????????

Whatever I can do - I will do.

My sister knows someone, a young Native American woman, who just joined the Air Force -- her entire family is an Army family. What can you say -- opportunities for women, opportunity to get out of poverty and make a good life, expression of a desire to fly -- how can this young woman be reached, be told that this is not the time & place for that? My sister doesn't know what to say...........  [ send green star]

Welcome, Mata! and Corinne, I know you're out there somewhere! and all the other new people that choose not to post on this thread! Welcome to all!

According to another thread, the one on the Veterans' threatened Dishonorable Discharge, the troops were being told "they were going to be re-building schools and mosques in Iraq". That is what the people back home were being told, too! Unfortunately, there are never pictures of such activities! On YouTube, there was a video of troops destroying a mosque! Gee, all its congregation will love us for that! Solution: but of course, shut down troops' access to YouTube! PR problem solved!!!

Thanks for the invite B. I like your style! I also love your concern for our children, and the children and innocents that our US kids have been given license to kill.

I was so proud of my nephew for making HIS boots walk out of Iraq after the liars reneged on their promise to him after his first tour of duty. He told his mother that it was stupid! And, that the people in Baghdad were just regular people like the people at home.

When the politicians say that the world hates Americans, it's a big lie for them to convince us of the justification to blow whole countries away...pretending that it's for the sake of freedom.

I'm so glad that my nephew saw through the $hit $torm that was created by a few chicken hawks who never had the courage to put their own greedy lives on the line. The a'bomb'inations to humanity and justice will get their just rewards...all in good time.

Unfortunately, there is another young man who is only related through marriage, his mother to my brother, who is a real GI Joe. His fiery personality bought the neo-con propaganda...hook, line & sinker. I can't believe how some soldiers are completely blinded to how inhumane this war in Iraq really is...it's frightening actually, how humans can feel proud of the most disgusting action committed!

Welcome Jessie, Erin, Teresa, and Kerry!

I have the feeling we haven't heard the last of Cindy Sheehan. She made as powerful a statement LEAVING the Peace Movement, and LEAVING the Democratic Party, as she did when joining the Peace Movement. There is NO DOUBT that the Democrats have BETRAYED HER, and us ALL, and the Country, by CONTINUING THE ILLEGAL, IMMORAL IRAQ OCCUPATION.

Cindy REFUSES to act as if that is not the case!

We honor Cindy Sheehan in this group; and we try to continue her brave work; by TELLING THE TRUTH; and by KEEPING OUR FOCUS ON THE TROOPS, AND WHATEVER IT TAKES to bring them home. Even if it sounds "too radical and unheard-of"!

Thanks for the invite BMutiny!  I'm very much for bringing the troops home!  Yesterday!  War Crimes Tribunals for the whole lot of them in Washington for THEIR treason!  Wipe the slate clean & bring back the Constitution!  BY the people, FOR the people & OF the people! Watada spoke at our Annual Peace March this year!  What an honor!  He had a lot of really good things to say.  He is a very positive & sincere man.  Would love to meet Cindy & give her a hug.  My partner was a Marine, very proud, but very sickened by what is happening.  He knows the danger they are in if they speak out or try to go against the machine.  We do have troops that have been killed by their fellow soldiers for speaking out, not staying in line.  The danger is very real for all of us, especially them!  I cry every day & have had to boycott the TV news.  These are our children that are being taken advantage of at a very vulnerable age.  They've been sent to chase demons that don't exist and too many have died over lies.  My heart goes out to them & their families!

I've gone way beyond "Outraged & paying attention"!  Glad to be part of this group!  I hope we can all make a difference together!

Peace Light & Love,    Kerry

Hi everyone, so many old friends in this group - at the moment I am not very often around - it is a momentary thing - we have prisoners in Italy that have been arrested (wrongly) as terrorists - so following these cases and also working and volunteering at our dog shelter - but you know that I hate this war and the only thing I would like to see are YOUR SONS & DAUGHTERS going home!  I wish you the best with this group.  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

Heartily welcome, Marie!

The thin orange writing I think comes along with the "yellow ribbon" background theme.

The "yellow ribbon" is a symbol of Bringing The Troops Home: there are songs where "Tying a yellow ribbon round the old oak tree" and "In her hair she wore a yellow ribbon" symbolize waiting for a loved one to come home from war.

I will have to talk to Care2 to try to change that; or change the theme!

 May 16, 2007 5:28 AM

One more thing, Barbara, it's hard for me to read the thin orange writing listing the topics.  That's going to deter me from reading them because I can't read what they're about.    [ send green star]  [ accepted]

P.S. The boots by themselves are easy to see and its clear what they represent.  But the picture of the boots with the capitol building in in back of the boots is hard to recognize in a little icon.    [ send green star]  [ accepted]

 May 16, 2007 4:59 AM

Hi, Barbara, I like the boots best for a logo for this group!

I'm a pacifist. I don't believe that killing helps anyone. Besides, if you want to add up the cost to see if killing is "worth it" you have to ASK ALL THE VICTIMS AND THEIR LOVED ONES! Otherwise, how can you really weigh what "worth it" means?

I'm a friend of Cindy Sheehan. When my kids saw her at a protest she remembered me and let them videotape her personal message to me. I started writing to her when barely anyone knew her- she was just another hurting Gold Star mom.

I opposed the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq from the very start. While everyone else cheered "the cause" I had a very strong gut level feeling it was all going to turn out very bad.

In order to understand what was REALLY happening, I read tens of thousands of articles on what was going on in Iraq. I read widely from a lot of different sources: imbedded journalists, independent journalists, right wingers, left wingers, Iraqi's on the street, Iraqi families of disappeared people, US soldiers and their families, US commanders (who I find to have the biggest spin, the higher up they go) and just about everyone I can find news by.

I got a very clear picture between all of these. It's amazing how similar the stories turn out when you read things by those on the ground- both US and Iraqi. But the higher up you go on either side, the greater the spin. So I nearly always trust the guys on the ground and almost never believe the guys at the top (on either side).

I have great respect for those who refuse to disobey their own consciences in this war. Did you know it is IN THE MILITARY CODE that no soldier can get in trouble for refusing to do anything he sees as morally wrong? Of course they don't keep their word on that, and refusers do get in trouble, but it is the higher ups who are disobeying military code when theY discipline refusers, if its for conscience sake.

The bottom line is, I don't think anyone should do what they know is wrong, period. But it's their lives, not mine, and I understand that its a very hard choice to make. Like you, Barbara, I just want to see them make a decision that's WELL INFORMED.

Eyes Wide Open, the American Friends Service Committee’s widely-acclaimed exhibition on the human cost of the Iraq War, features a pair of boots honoring each U.S. military casualty, a field of shoes and a Wall of Remembrance to memorialize the Iraqis killed in the conflict, and a multimedia display exploring the history, cost and consequences of the war.

Since 1917, the American Friends Service Committee has championed the dignity and worth of every individual, the sanctity of human life and humanity's collective responsibility to promote peace. For almost 90 years of work in war zones on four continents, we have gained an intimate knowledge of the costs and horrors of war.

When this exhibit was unveiled by our Chicago office in January 2004, there were 504 pairs of boots symbolizing the lost lives of U.S. soldiers in Iraq. With each passing week, each stop in a new city, more pairs of boots are added to represent the newly fallen. Alongside the boots stands a wall of remembrance with the names of the more than 11,000 Iraqi civilians who have been killed since the U.S.-led invasion.

As the exhibit makes its appearances across the country, families and friends come to grieve for lost loved ones and strangers honor those who gave their lives to a cause far from home.

At each stop, person after person leaves notes of commemoration, photographs of lost soldiers, identification tags, flowers, and American flags to accompany the boots on their journey.

Although a majority of Americans now believe this war is a tragic misadventure, the human cost of the Iraq War grows every day. How many more boots will be standing at silent attention before this war ends, before Iraqis and American soldiers are out of harm's way?

This traveling exhibit is a memorial to those who have fallen and a witness to our belief that no war can justify its human cost.

Mary Ellen McNish,
General Secretary, AFSC

Thank you, Joy. I have to be off-line for a while! I have, tho, a logo I want for the Group Picture. Don't know, tho, when I'll get around to installing it. It is from the American Friends Service Committee {Quakers} exhibit, called "Eyes Wide Open". They had a travelling exhibit of COMBAT BOOTS, one pair for each American soldier killed; often his or her ACTUAL BOOTS, donated by the family. Also along with that, were donated CIVILIAN SHOES of men, women and CHILDREN, symbolically representing the Iraqi CIVILIANS killed. I saw it in Seattle. The exhibit moved many to tears. The symbolism of the empty boots, resonates on many levels. If at all possible, I will try to get a picture of a pair of empty boots, with the soldier's name tag on it, with a picture of the U.S. CAPITOL in the backgroud!!!  [ send green star]

Hi, Charles! I haven't had a chance to do much research on Patrick Henry; but I did notice in passing that he was against the Constitution, didn't have time to follow up on that. However, he was a GREAT rhetorician who gave us TWO memorable phrases: Give Me Liberty, or Give Me Death; and, If This Be Treason, Make The Most Of It. Good on you to point out that American Revolutionary Troops mutineed too! We have room for lots of research on the subject of Mutiny! Especially, WHY and WHEN troops mutiny, and why NOT. We have a space for stuff on Viet Nam, we want LOTS on Viet Nam, there are SO MANY lessons there; go to one of the FIRST threads started by Indigo, that is a good place to put Viet Nam material.  [ send green star]

Real Patriotism May 15, 2007 4:59 AM

Oh forgot to mention: A real Patriot questions authority at each and every opportunity. A real patriot will burn a flag (hey they're just cloth manufactured in Mainland China folks)! The worst thing people can do for the military IS NOT TO PROTEST AT ALL!To really support the troops means to bring them home alive-which is not what punks like Bush want; they'd rather see umpteen KIA military than to bring `em home where they really belong! Hi BT! May 15, 2007 4:37 AM

As with the others here, muchos gracias fer the invite. Heck I'm not shy about using the word treason nor should you; after all, the RightWingChicken Brigade loves applying it LIBERALLY as a smear tactic. There's a ton of stories about `Nam I'd like to share with you & all; the kind that Uncle Sammy went nuts on redacting. If you don't know of it already, a great addition to any serious study of American GI (and Marine) resistance is the DVD "Sir No Sir! available from the VVAW. re: Patrick Henry, he's wasn't the flaming patriot that historians typically paint him as; you should latch onto Founding Myths, Stories That Hide Our Patriotic Past by Ray Raphael ISBN 1-56584-921-3, you'll discover an uncomfortable truth about the unheroic Henry. If you do read that author's book you'll also be amazed at contrary to history's depiction of them, the colonial troops rebelled against their officers quite a lot, they questioned every move planned by Washington & his officers (they didn't believe in Democracy BTW); the troops were treasonous at every opportunity. Anyhoo, mighty glad to be on board as a neo member mi amiga.  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

dear BMT - I'm a pacifist, and I think this is the right group for me - sorry that I can't be a cohost, but I can't! I don't know if I can be of any help, but maybe in small things, occasionally. Like, where-ever I go, usually by bike or train, I take my ruck-sack-bag and I have two buttons on it: USA ut ur Irak (USA out of Iraq) and Nej till krig (No to war) - it is not the fashion here, but I feel desperate - this war is just so disgusting... maybe inviting friends to this group would be a little step for peace? I will keep an eye on the threads here and see what I can do! Good luck with this group BMT! Hello to all old and new friends, makes me happy to see you here - every face here nourishes my belief in humanity - thanks a lot! Love and peace and blessings! Thanks Barbara for the invite. As the mother of a soldier I really want to see an end to this preferably before he deploys in September. The best Mother's Day present I got this year is the phone call yesterday that he is coming home on leave until deployment. Maybe Bush will keep vetoing the Iraq spending bill so he won't be deployed. That is what he says that he may not have to go if the July benchmarks are not met.  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

MARY! HELLO! May 13, 2007 8:52 PM

Only FRAGMENTS of Patrick Henry's Stamp Act Speech have survived. The following is a FICTIONAL account, by a NOVELIST, of the scene. It is NOT Historical! Just "consistent with the period style". But, I got a kick out of it! I think you will, too! ------------------------------------------------- His voice now rose to a pitch that seemed to shatter the air. “History is rife with instances of ambitious, grasping tyranny! Like many of you, I, too, have read that in the past, the tyrants Tarquin and Julius Caesar each had his Brutus, Cataline had his Cicero and Cato, and, closer to our time, Charles had his Cromwell! George the Third may – “ The opposition benches exploded in outrage. Burgesses shot up at the sound of the king’s name, released now from their dumb silence, and found their argument. They cried to the Speaker, “Treason!” “Treason!” “Enough! He speaks treason!” “Expel that man!” “Silence that traitor!” “Stay his tongue!” “Treason!” Speaker Robinson was also on his feet, shaking his cane at Henry. “Treason, sir! Treason! I warn you, sir! Treason!” Henry, determined to finish his sentence, shouted about the tumult, “ –George the Third may profit by their example!” “Treason!” insisted more of the older members. “Sedition!” “Treason!” “Speaker, silence that man!” Henry stood defiantly, facing his gesturing accusers, then raised a hand and whipped it through the air in a diagonal swath that seemed to sweep them all way. “If this be treason, then make the most of it!” he shouted. He stood for a moment more, then turned and strode back to his seat. But, he did not sit, for he was not finished…...  [ send green star]

Hello all-- May 13, 2007 8:40 PM

Thank you BMT for inviting me to your group. I too share the reservations that Jennie and Jessica have expressed. In my opinion, the troops should not be expected to do any more than stay safe, do their job, communicate with us about what they think and feel in Iraq and Afghanistan. The military is too often chosen as a way to get skills for the rest of their life. I believe that much can be done through Congress. My Congressman, Tim Walz, is a freshman (beat a 6 term Republican incumbent) Democrat who is smart and also a veteran. This new group in Congress needs to be given a chance. The best we can do for them is share our opinions. They do listen to the feedback from their constituents. However, just like when you are talking with someone face to face, it is important to stay calm and suppress the frustrations about these wars. Otherwise, your true message is drowned in angry emotion. But, that doesn't mean that I'm not angry about all of the treason committed from the top. Thanks, I'll be in touch. Peace, Mary  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

Hi, Michael! May 13, 2007 8:18 PM

PATRICK HENRY - - I wish I could show his picture, and we could use it for our Avatar! Trained as an attorney, and noted for his heated oratorical skills, this Virginian first made a name for himself in a case dubbed the "Parson's Cause" (1763), which was an argument on whether the price of tobacco paid to clergy for their services should be set by the colonial government or by the Crown. Henry technically lost the case, but damages were set at such a nominally low level that the result was widely perceived to be a victory for the independence movement. Perhaps in part because of his success in this venture, Henry was elected to the House of Burgesses (the legislative body of the Virginia colony) in 1765. That same year, he proposed the Virginia Stamp Act Resolutions. The freshman representative waited for an opportunity where the mostly conservative members of the House were away (only 24% was considered sufficient for a quorum). In this atmosphere, he succeeded, through much debate and persuasion, in getting his proposal passed. It was possibly the most anti-British (many called it "treasonous") American political action to that point, and some credit the Resolutions with being one of the main catalysts of the Revolution. The proposals were based on principles that were well established British rights, such as the right to be taxed by one's own representatives. They went further, however, to assert that the colonial assemblies had the exclusive right to impose taxes on the colonies and could not assign that right. The imputation of treason is due to his inflammatory words, "Caesar had his Brutus; Charles the First his Cromwell; and George the Third—" [Cries of "Treason! Treason!"] "George the Third may profit by their example. If this be treason, make the most of it."  [ send green star]

Hi, Jessica, Jennie, Elfmagic.... I was HOPING we'd have an AUSTRALIAN, besides a Brit and a Canadian... we are all in it together! THE MORE A PERSON KNOWS, THE BETTER DECISIONS THEY CAN MAKE. THAT is the purpose of this group. NOBODY is going to listen to a silly old bat telling them to do this or not do that! This is to INFORM, so that people can make FULLY-INFORMED decisions. For example, many teens that the Military tries to recruit, have NO idea what their RIGHTS are, or when they are being LIED to. There are people in my town, who make it their business, to hand out leaflets, etc., so the teens can KNOW. Also websites I could give you, etc. I just have happened to have accumulated a STORE of information, over time, that I think could be USEFUL. In the Front Page Host Announcement section, I have just posted what kinds of info I have, and am LOOKING FOR. {I also posted on a thread, for convenience.} Jennie, a LOT of this came to light, because of YOUR probing questions!!! Thank you! tho it kept me up for hours! There is a lot of HISTORICAL FACT that applies, that has been suppressed and distorted. Especially about the Viet Nam War, that has so many lessons to teach us. We gotta get our FACTS straight, before anything else!!! Jennie, Jessica, dealing with the difficult question of HONOR, is exactly the focus I have set for myself to probe. There is going to be a LOT of discussion of that, I think! I am not gonna BLUDGEON anyone, for "my way or the highway"! I think a knowledge of the past, can illuminate the present. And observing how both words and facts, can be twisted and distorted; and correcting that. That is why I want to set THE HIGHEST STANDARDS OF TRUTHFULNESS, here. TOO MUCH IS AT STAKE, not to. We ARE talking about people's LIVES. This post was modified from its original form on 13 May, 19:47  [ send green star]

Hi - I agree with you so much about your reservations. I have the same thoughts - on one side - it would be "wrong" of service men and women to disobey orders. They would be subject to court marshal and many (such as my fiance) would not even consider it as an option since they feel an obligation to serve - since they did sign up to do so (although most did so when we weren't in the midst of an illegal war) On the other hand - the current administration has, in effect, committed treason against the United States citizens, most especially the military, by entering into this war and putting them in danger. Actually getting so many killed. Not to mention the Iraqi civilians that have been literally caught in the crossfire. It seems like a catch 22 doesn't it? Just wanted to say I understand fully - nice to know I'm not the only one who feels this way.  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

Hi BJM, thanks for inviting me, I'm still reading all the info you sent me- had company all day so I'm in the middle of it. I am with you in spirit and yet I have reservations about goin so far as asking men and women in active service to, in effect, commit treason. I know they are no longer hanged for it, but they are tried and hounded for it and they do serve time and have no benefits and their family suffers, and for many of them who are from the middle class or poor, they joined for the education or extra money and what they weren't counting on was being involved in a fulltime war deployed over and over again and then cheated out of benefits (limited to 2 yrs for National Guard), and much less for those who dare to go AWOL. It is easy for us here to tell them to stand against their leaders and the gov't but by doing so, they risky their families, too. I think they need to fully understand what doing this means. Many are finding out now what just writing their negative thoughts about the war means as they have been shut down. And yet, something must give, I agree with you, and I think it must be the people of this country who must care enough to demand the end to the war by voting all the people out who support it in any way....that will be an even clearer msg they understand.  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

Hi B-Mutiny and everyone else. I live in the middle of nowhere in Australia and go out once a fortnight for shopping. I do not know what I can do except what I Am Doing which is: talking my head off to unsuspecting telemarketers etc, wood delivery people, shopkeepers etc, signing petitions [gotta love the net]. However, I am with you all the way and want all soldiers from all our countries to be brought home from Afganistan and Iraq [and everywhere else] and not be used as killing machines for the sake of big greed and oil, or any reason at all. The truth will bring all corrupt governments down and we have to get rid of the Cabal if we want things to change towards knowing that we are all one. All are one and when one is hurt we all are hurt.  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

Hi all! May 13, 2007 6:47 PM

I'm Jessica, This seems like a really interesting group, and I'm looking forward to participating. I have a big interest in this issue. I'm engaged to a Lt. in the U.S. Army. He's been to both Afghanistan and Iraq, and I hope so much he won't have to go back. I know my fiance would not particularly agree with some of the radical ideas here. He's liberal, but has a strong sense of honor and is very devoted to his job as a soldier (he's a wonderful man). I'd love any ideas for helping to stop this awful unjust war though. Can't say I'll ever be able to change his mind, but that doesn't mean I can't educate myself and participate. From my fiance's experience in Iraq, he's said the troops leaving would be bad for their country - as in the new Iraq government would not be able to handle things if the U.S. left. He would certianly know, and I don't doubt him - but my problem is that there seems to be NO progress towards the government being able to handle things itself. so WHEN will our troops be safe from deployment?!?!?!? I love that the platform of this group seems to be out of concern for our troops first - that's so important to me because I'm so close to one It also gives me insight into the military in general. So I can see things from both sides. Even though I'm so extremely against it - I do understand why Iraq is still being occupied. However, we need to stop that and let Iraq govern itself. Preferably without the civil war that's breaking out in spite of the U.S. presence there anyway. I'm happy to be on board, and I welcome all sorts of radical ideas! As far as I'm concerned there's nothing more patriotic than questioning your leaders and thinking for yourself. I'm sure the founders of this nation (who overthrew a government blatantly not acting in interest of the people) would agree. Patrick Henry is a great example. -Jess-  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

David, Indigo, wonderful to have Brits and Canadians in this group! We are all in it together! It is so STRANGE, isn't it, that soldiers will face DEATH and MAIMING, rather than a relatively short jail sentence for refusing orders. {The U.S. Army hasn't SHOT anyone for desertion, since WWII.} The reason is, that the soldiers fear DISGRACE more than Death itself. They don't want to "let down their buddies", very understandably, who are interdependent for their very survival. THEREFORE, for a real difference to take place, entire UNITS must refuse TOGETHER, as did the 343rd Quartermasters in Iraq about 2 years ago. And, as UNITS did in Viet Nam! and in the German Imperial Army of WWI, the British Navy in 1787.....ALEXANDER THE GREAT'S TROOPS, EVEN!!!!!! And in each of those cases, CHANGED HISTORY!!! ONE person, like Lt. Ehren Watada and other single Resisters, Conscientious Objectors, and soldiers gone AWOL, is HEROIC; but, to REALLY END THE WAR, you need PEOPLE POWER......Troop Cohesion can work BOTH WAYS, you know...... THIS IS SOMETHING THAT WE CAN HAVE AN INFLUENCE ON!!! We CAN make a DIFFERENCE!!!  [ send green star]

GROUP PURPOSE May 13, 2007 6:22 PM

Hi, Joy! Gee, my mind is boggled, it was just MINUTES ago I started this group, it seems, and I haven't figured out yet how to get the toolbar with the colors, etc., on! This group is specifically set up to discuss RESISTANCE INSIDE THE MILITARY, and by soldiers' families and friends, to end the war. BY ENCOURAGING CEASING TO FIGHT. Whatever the risk. I just was doing some research last night, and I came across some WONDERFUL stuff from the Viet Nam war, that even I didn't know at the time! And I felt I had to share it with people! Also other fascinating bits of history. I'm supposed to know history, my parents taught it, and I came across stuff that is DOWNPLAYED in the history books!!! Gee I wunner why!!!! and I never knew about it!!!!! Anyway, of COURSE it is appropriate to discuss other means of Resistance as well! These, I feel, SUPPORT the soldiers' Resistance! Things like VOTING TO IMPEACH THEIR COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF, and having DEMOS large and small, so the soldiers can SEE that the Public doesn't support the war!!!! News of such demos, etc., should be on here!!! [ESPECIALLY, of non-violent Civil Disobedience!] However, this group is NOT FOR THE FAINT-HEARTED. I aim to take the "scariness" out of the word, "TREASON". Some bozo on Care2 threatened to "turn me in to Homeland Security"! Well, what would that great PATRIOT, Patrick Henry, have thought about that??!! He said, quote, "IF THIS BE TREASON, MAKE THE MOST OF IT". Hey, if anybody can find a dramatic picture of him, and knows how to download it, Patrick Henry could be the group's Avatar!!!  [ send green star]

I am glad that you started this group as we need to address this urgent matter. We are very much on our own. Congress will not help. As a Canadian, I want to help all of by brothers and sisters in the USA and I also hope to see our Prime Minister face impeachment and charges for war crimes. Canada and Britain have been complicit in all things that the Americans have done in Afganistan and Iraq and are currently doing in Iran. Justice cannot come soon enough. Thank you for the invitation BMT. Indigo  [report anonymous abuse]  [ accepted]

discussions to find ways to end the war... May 13, 2007 5:57 PM

Hm-m--mm, let's put it like this: we elected better representation out of the hands of the right wing, but they are slow....of course, we know why....they need to sway the fence sitters in the mean time death continues in Iraq. Anyway, Hi! Joy here!  [ send green star]  [ accepted]
