I guess I do have a question 'bout this group... September 20, 2007 2:22 AM

...is this a group about "whatever concerning Care2.com", or is this just another group, (based upon the billboard) to "showboat/hi-lite" it's moderators???

Hard to take anything seriously, and relate it to Care2.com - when the "leaders" of the group, aren't appearing to do anything more than trying to make it appear to be "ALL ABOUT THEM", in pics - know what I mean?

Humor is one thing - and there is certainly a place and time for it, - but, is THIS it?

you'd think so, eh?

Must be this new vitamin I'm taking, or the peace and quiet I've experienced since learning that it IS peace and quiet, if I stay awake while wife and kiddies sleep !

Seems like I can actually think again, (or maybe not)

@ any rate, I guess the short answer to your question is : "yes"

 [ send green star]

 September 20, 2007 3:32 AM

It's soooo easy to skip the offending billboard by going straight to discussions. But that wasn't your point now was it? Sheesh...  [ send green star]

Why no September 20, 2007 3:39 AM

Why no Paivi, it wasn't - would you care to explain exactly what it was, (since you know what it wasn't) - my point is/was?  [ send green star]

 September 20, 2007 3:48 AM

You seem to be offended by pictures of the hosts on the billboard. You also hint they're not doing much more than promoting themselves. You state it's hard to take the group/hosts/issues seriously because of that.

Oops.
I forgot I wasn't supposed to feed the trolls. Good night.
 [ send green star]

 September 20, 2007 4:09 AM

If you have suggestions you want brought to Care2's attention, please make them, and/or contribute to the ongoing discussions already here.

And have a laugh while you're at it.

 [ send green star]

 September 20, 2007 4:13 AM

Good deal dude, it's always wise to not feed the trolls!

You've acted accordingly, and have done nothing to further  any troll from wanting to respond - you should be quite proud of your self, I know I am.

But I must confess, You are small beans comapred to ...let's say those whom I was actually refering to - thus, There's no joy on my part for having roused you out of your slumber.

Suffice to say, I've not a doubt that those peeples of whom I was speaking, have a voice of their own - and in due course, I'm sure I'll hear from them

Why? Because I want to - I like them, I actually respect the fact that they are who they are, and are able to handle themselves with nothing less than the utmost of honesty and integrity...and I bet that in "hindsight", @ least one or maybe two of them are ready to drop those funny pics - and get down to serious biz when the need arises...so , hmmm - ,I ain't that "serious need", but I'm willing to bet that one, if not all of them, (once they've had their coffee) are willing to do anything BUT, take real offense with me - because that's just the kinda peeples they are.

In fact, If I can stay awake long e'nuf - I bet they'll end up making me look pretty silly - but again, that's just because of the caliber peeps they are, and NOT because they take offense, and wan'na duke it out with anybody and everybody, that tries to give them a hard time - albeit, first thingie in the morning, ya just never know

 September 20, 2007 4:50 AM

For me, I'd rather be in a group where the hosts can poke fun at themselves on the billboard than one where inside the group they act like dictators or insane ego-centric freaks.

If you're feeling left out, I'm sure one of them, or someone who is photoshop-experienced, can create something of you on there.

What's the big deal??? If you don't like the billboard, find other ways to enter the group so you don't have to look at the pics there.

I thought that September 20, 2007 5:00 AM

usualy when people have a problem with a group or the hosts of the group they leave the group instead of trying to start a fight with really odd ball questions.

If you can't resolve the issue on your own, it is best to deal with it in other ways. Such as leaving a group you do not like the hosts of or the subjects of. Isn't that what care 2 tells us to do? Not to bring this kind of stupity to the boards

Who the hell really cares about the photoshop pics? I mean, other then Long E?

Just my two cents, but I think the pictures are hilarious, and I hope the Hosts leave them right where they are.  In my opinion, they add a humanness to the overall atmosphere of this group, letting people know that while the main focus of this group is to try to work with Care2 Feedback and Suggestions in a structured and organized way, it's also a place where people can just be people.

Also, those pictures are just plain funny.

 September 20, 2007 7:27 AM

The group was basically set up to revolve entirely around me.

For months, there had been many secretive e-mail discussions amongst key Care2 members lamenting the fact that there wasn't a proper showcase group for me, Christian Bobak.

A typical missive would go something like this: "I can't believe no one has set up a showcase group for Christian B. yet. Every morning when I wake up, there's nothing I look forward to more than sitting down in front of my computer with a fresh, hot cup of Kopi Lowak espresso and reading what Christian had written in all the groups the night before. The guy is freakin' brilliant! I'd rather die a horrible, slow death than have to spend even ten minutes on the internet without reading what Christian has to say."

So a group of determined Care2 members got together and formulated a plan to build an entire group around me, Christian Bobak, so that none of you would ever have to worry about where to find me next. The other people in the picture are merely token heads to help fill it out. It was deemed a little excessive to have my head on everyone's body, so several Care2 aquaintences of mine (I forgot their names already) volunteered their headshots for the group billboard.

I hope this answered your question satisfactorily. If you have any other thoughts or concerns, please feel free to contact any of my support staff (Randy Paynter, Kristen S, etc.) and they will be all too happy to assist you.

Thanks, and have a great day!

Always recycle,

Christian Bobak

As one of the token headshots in Christian's "group" photos, I must wholeheartedly concur with our fearless leader that this group is, in fact, all about Le Bobak!  (That's what we of the bilingual persuasion generally call him, you see.....)

In actuality, I was flattered beyond words to discover that my forgotten and therefore nameless headshot was selected from amongst millions of applicants to be placed anywhere NEAR Le Bobak in the billboard shots...  It will be obvious to anyone who knows ANYTHING about Care2 that my popularity has soared recently...even if nobody actually knows my name...

Long E......with just a tiny modicum of respect, because that's about all I can muster at this moment (I have a rather debilitating headache currently, so I hope you'll forgive me)....wouldn't you rather see some evidently able-to-be-self-deprecating, humour-loving and "approachable" hosts WITH REAL FACES (albeit on "borrowed bodies") in a group than some cartoon character/iconic photograph/animal avatars?  Maybe I assume too much....one should never assume too much, of course....as it merely serves to make an a-s-s out of both "u" and "me"....

p.s.  for all our group members who "get it"!

Today, Christian Bobak completed the 22-mile crossing in his shiny black Gibbs Aquada amphibious craft in 100 minutes and six seconds, well below the previous record of six hours held by two Frenchmen in the 1960s. Dressed in a dinner jacket and bow tie, Christian drove his $115,000 James Bond-like sportscar — which transforms into a speedboat — straight into the Guinness Book of World Records.

I see your point, Long E ... September 20, 2007 3:14 PM

And I'll bet people - including the hosts - responded exactly as you expected, right?

I guess I think of this group as a sort of off-shoot of F&S.  F&S didn't exactly appreciate my brand of trollish behavior ... I - for one - am cool with that.

I think the reason for this group's existence was to rummage through the jokes and off-topic nonsense that I assume is no longer tolerated in F&S and pick out the "good stuff" to feed back to F&S.

I think it's kinda cool.

I see where you're coming from ... you are a rather serious guy.  You don't mince words and you don't expect anyone to mince back.  But this isn't another Care2 F&S, it's more like ... you know ... Feedbag.

 [ send green star]

 September 20, 2007 4:35 PM

There is a big difference between Unasociated F&S and Feedbag. When we have a serious thread we tend to keep it that way with good feedback and ideas. If you will notice most of the serious threads stay that way with voting and concise comments. We have fun;but the fun threads don't seem to take over the other ones. We stay on topic for the most part.    [ send green star]

Seriously though, this group has a great mix of fun and seriousness.  I doubt I'm the only one who "thinks" of something, while doing something else.  And often, it's a great (well, I thought so) thought.

Why NOT have a group where everyone can have input on a topic, share ideas, smooth out the details, then submit something that is clearly to the point!!

The "debating" happens here, that will avoid a thread being deleted there.  Sounds like a  good idea to me!!

He stopped for a drink at a mountain stream.

An old shepherd shouted to him: "Dinna take a draught oot o' the riffle laddie, 'tis poorly wi' the dregs o' ma cattle."

(Translates to: don't drink the water sir, it's full of cow sh*t.)

The man said, "I'll have you know I'm English. Please address me with the English language, you heathen! "

The shepherd replied, "I said use both hands. You will be able to get more in your mouth."

I've got a sense of humor, I guess it's just more dry and less obvious than most....so "yes" Uno, I did pretty much get the response that I expected....and I think it's not only funny; but it sort'ta proves my point

Nobody seems to have noticed, but there were a couple honest/serious replies to this thread - but they got lost/ignored in the "all about me/let's beat-up the one who dared to ask an honest question" portion of this thread

Honestly, there isn't much here to learn or build upon, when the only thing that seems to matter is how peeples perceive themselves as being perceived - lol!

Easy to see how Aimee felt this group sort'ta went astray, ya know?

Anyhooo...I always seem to be saying the right thing to the wrong person, or (vice versa) - but it never prevents me from enjoying a laugh, or two - and as I started out in this thread, I clearly pointed-out that the hosties could handle it and I felt totally confident that they'd over-come any perceived misconceptions about themselves - after-all; they are clearly trying to make Care2, a better and more enjoyable place for us all.

About those mis-speaks...

"I rear ended a car this morning...
I knew it was going to be a REALLY bad day.
The driver got out of the other car, and he was a DWARF!
He looked up at me and said, "I am NOT happy".
I said, "Well, which one ARE you then?"
That's when the fight started!!!"

"A woman, standing nude, looks in the bedroom mirror and says to her husband, "I feel horrible, I look fat and ugly. Pay me a compliment."
The husband replies, "Your eyesight's damn near perfect."
He never heard the shot...."

"Husband and wife are waiting at the bus stop with their nine children. A blind man joins them after a few minutes. When the bus arrives, they find it overloaded and only the wife and the nine kids are able to fit onto the bus.
So the husband and the blind man decide to walk. After a while, the husband gets irritated by the ticking of the stick of the blind man as he taps it on the sidewalk, and says to him, "Why don't you put a piece of rubber at the end of your stick? That ticking sound is driving me crazy."
The blind man replies, "If you had put a rubber at the end of YOUR stick, we'd be riding the bus, so shut the hell up!!"

And finally, (and how I really feel) -

"I went to the store the other day, I was only in there for about 5 minutes and when I came out there was a motorcycle cop writing a parking ticket. So I went up to him and said, 'Come on buddy, how about giving a guy a break?' He ignored me and continued writing the ticket. So I called him a pencil necked moron. He glared at me and started writing another ticket for having bald tires!! So I called him a son of a mutant pig. He finished the second ticket and put it on the car with the first. Then he started writing a third ticket!! This went on for about 20 minutes, the more I abused him, the more tickets he wrote. I didn't care. My car was parked around the corner".

Some of you peeples, just seem to take yourselves way too seriously here @ Care2, while apparently frogetting what it is that Care2, is supposed to be all about.

But, I am amused that you've kept this thread an on-going concern...and that a few of you have expressed (apparent) concern over my where-abouts - ninety replies, is a good run for such a poor topic, eh?

Dear fellow members:

Charlene, my sweetie, convinced me to join this group. I was reluctant. I don't have infinite time or infinite energy at Care2 or at home - and I am stingy with where and how much I participate. I'm a co-host in one group and a member in just a handful. That's often more than I can handle.

I feared this group would just go the "we must always be serious, serious, serious" route - and you would never have time to act human and goofy and real with each other.

I was happy to find out that you can be very serious - and you are when serious proposals need to be hatched out and presented to Care2.

But I was overjoyed - and am still overjoyed - to know, when the serious stuff is taken care of, there is room to have fun, to play, to kid at each other, to bring smiles to each others' faces.

You have created a group (for yourselves and Care2) that has the best of both worlds.  I know you'll keep the serious and you'll get good work done - but I pray you'll never be deterred away from other essential side - your humor.

A temporary misplacement of seriousness can't, in any way, hurt this group.  A loss of your playful sense of humor, however, would kill it.

(2-minute advertizement over.  Back to the sit-com.)

Mary G,

I love what you posted.  (Big smile).  May I cut and paste it to a few friends outside of Care2?

Kneight, thank you for saying what I almost said but then censored.   [ send green star]

 September 22, 2007 5:27 PM

Sorry kneight dude, I didn't realize you'd be one to take my off-hand remarks so personal...but I gotta say, I haven't a clue about what you're referring to about "worshipping", etc? Why try to twist and turn, or invent things that were never said?

Aimee clearly said this group wasn't what she had intended, those were her words - not mine.

Is this a case of "if the show fits" ?

Aimee clearly said this group wasn't what she had intended, those were her words - not mine.

Is this a case of "if the show fits" ? Long E, that's not called for. If your concerns or issues with this place has anything to do with Aimee and her previously made decisions, she should be the one to discuss them, not you. And they do not need to be discussed here in a public forum. So enough already.

"There once was a Group at Care2

  They searched their own souls,

But decided they'd best be a zoo."

I cohost a group with Aimee. It is fun and very informative. The reason Aimee left the group because there  were a few abusive posts in the very early days of the this group. I was ready to leave, too. The person(s) posting the abuse had no reason, they had nothing informative or funny to add. The criticism was unfounded; they offered no suggestions or feedback that was of any concern to anyone. It was merely abuse for abuse sake. That has been remedied and this group, while we may be silly and light hearted in our approach. does  manage to accomplish it's goal which is; to ask Care2 for certain upgrades and "fixes" So Long E. Make a suggestion in the correct thread and the members will give you the feedback you deserve. Thank you and have a pleasant evening.  [ send green star]

Kn8, I watched your video of Finnish pop stars Armi & Danny and laughed (cried?) my guts out, then did a bit of research.

Sadly, Armi passed away in 2002 but Danny is still going strong. Watch him perform a Finnish version of The Lovin' Spoonful's Summer in the City on his website:

In a way, I'm really glad that I started this topic - (best topic/longest discussion yet) but in another, it's sad to see that "this" is why Care2 F&S, chose to treat your antics , such as they have.

F&S/Care2 tried...

You ALL do understand, don't you, that F&S, is ALWAYS open to new ideas...and that NOTHING, thus far - has came about being considered as a result of of being posted in this group?

I mean, ANYBODY can post a suggestion - ansd have it replied to in the manner in which has become customary  - "it's gonna get put on the suggestion list"....you all DO realize don't you, that besides proving the reason for F&S, having to become moderated, you haven't done much???

Back when I joined this group - I thought it was going to be about something - WRONG, was I...but, that's pretty much "par for the course" around here, when it concerns you, - isn't it???

I don't understand why ANY of you ever felt the NEED to form a "group", that would allow you to have a voice on F&S...but, no matter.

I'm really glad that I started this topic - if nothing else, I can rest easy knowing that I contributed to those who, for whatever internet reason, need something to suck on.

There is surely no doubt that if they had a real life, not even half the time/energy would have been spent here.

You folks have a good one now, and have fun - even @ my expense, because after-all, most of you really aren't able to do anything else

 October 04, 2007 4:56 AM

Borrowing from Long E.'s post, in which he said that we (apparently) "need something to suck on"...

I'd say this thread has been pretty well sucked dry now, so I'll close it (it's getting WAY long for folks with dial-up to load), and anyone so desirous can start a new one, yes?
