Quiz September 04, 2004 6:50 AM

Hi, I made this personality quiz and I wondered what results you'd get? Anyway please try it if you can. Thanks, Catriona http://quizilla.com/users/catriona-ratty/quizzes/What%20is%20your%20secret%20world?  [ send green star]

Quiz was fun! September 04, 2004 7:54 AM

Catriona! The quiz was great fun - but not entirely accurate! I came out as a goldfish with not much between my ears - and I'm a member of MENSA! Neat idea! I lost my Jillian two days ago. I had her put down - I'm pretty sure she had pneumonia. She decided to quit eating entirely and had lost weight. So I went and got two new rats to be friends with Tiffanie, Jill's sister. So far, so good. Molly and Lexie are the new girls. They are shelter rats and will take some time to warm up. Take care!~  [ send green star]

A goldfish? Did you take the right quiz? I have a quiz called 'what is your secret world' which is different! What's MENSA?  [ send green star]

My rat scamper had a respiratory problem too; she was in a similar way. She didn't eat and wheezed all night. Eventually she couldn't move at all and I had to put her in comfortable sleeping positions, so the vet said we had to have her put down and I didn't argue.  [ send green star]

My quiz says that I belong in a rainforest.  [ send green star]

i am a dog, but also "You are... I really have no idea what you are. I have never come across anything so odd." and my ideal place is a rainforest.  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

Sorry - I'm sure I wouldn't normally call you odd!  [ send green star]

The respoiratory problem is mycoplasmia (you might have already known that but just in case...) and it's really common in rats. You can manage it with oral antibiotics and nebulized antibiotics (meds administered through an inhaled mist) but there's unfortuntely no cure as of yet I've lost several rats to it, and it's awful. The good thing is if you catch it early you can sometimes keep it from becoming life-threatening. So if you ever have little ratties that sneeze or cough a lot, ask your vet about getting them nebulized or on oral meds right away. And if they don't know about it...get a new vet!  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

Hmm September 06, 2004 6:35 AM

My rats sneezed, so I took them to the vet. She didn't think anything was wrong, but I made a fuss so she gave me antibiotics just to keep me happy! I gave it to them and they don't sneeze so much now. Do you know a lot about diseases then? Because if you do, it could be very useful! I will when I'm a vet, but I need to get through my GCSEs, A levels and university first!  [ send green star]

I'm the queen of diseases :-) September 06, 2004 2:46 PM

I'm very up on a lot of rat diseases because I've had a lot of rats and have therefore seen a lot of diseases . The problem is most vets don't really know much about rats, even the specialists, because the training they get on them is like 3 months long and then they just stop learning. Rat care is by no means as standardized as care for dogs, cats or even birds. Since I want the best possible care for my babies I compensate for the gaps in care by doing a LOT of research, keeping track of all the meds I give them and how well they work, and talking to people all over the place about their experiences and such. It's all about sharing info and always learning new stuff to keep the babies healthy! There needs to be a lot of improvement in how vets care for rats, so if you're going into veterinary care you have a great opportunity to make a big difference for these little guys. I'd love you forever if you did!  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

Well, we have a rat specialist at our local clinic so they know what they are talking about! But the only problem is, she dreams a lot and suddenly appears to drift off into a daydream in the middle of conversations, so I often get worried that she'll do the same in a operation! But yes, if I manage to be a vet I'll specialise on rats too (as I'll have a lot of knowledge on the little cuties), but it's VERY difficult to be a vet in England, as there are only 6 colleges! I might have a chance, as I'm already working at A* level at GCSE for biology, chemistry, latin and french, but I still have work to do on the other 9 subjects I do! But if I am a vet, I'll be working here in the UK (hopefully somewhere rural in Scotland), but maybe I'll set up a rat specialist vet college and sent students off to the USA for you!  [ send green star]

"What kind of animal are you?" - You are a goldfish! You don't seem to have much between the ears, but the sea-monkey doesn't care. ummmm..... "What kind of creature are you?" - You are a walking stationary set. You are always organised and tidy always there when needed. .....this is so true! "What kind of neopet are you? - You are a peophin. You love to be in beautiful places, especially wildlife, and the beauty of nature is glory to you. You love its peacefulness which gives you time to think. When you are not enjoying being part of nature, you are often thinking about the importance of it and daydreaming. Chances are, you are a vegetarian. You are a true nature-lover. ....this is so true! "What is your secret world like?" - Your world is on a tropical island. You are laid back, and you need somewhere peaceful but interesting just to do what you like. .....this is so true--I love palm trees!  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

Quiz October 27, 2004 9:42 PM

Well there we go - I'm a Rat. And also unclassifable in the second quiz. I agree it's sad when they get old and die. My Nelly lived to 3 1/2 y/old and the poor old thing... I had to have her put down too. She had such a great personality and was my great big lump of Rat Fat to cuddle and tote about. That's what's turning me off getting another pet rat, just when you become really attached to them and they have great personalities they die. Life's a bitch.  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

I know, they are so easy to get attatched to but after 2 years that's it. If only rats lived as long as humans... Oh yes, notice how on the quiz the rat is the most intelligent one.  [ send green star]

I'll just go check the animal one, to see how so many ended up as fishes.  [ send green star]

Hmm November 01, 2004 11:58 AM

Aha... here's my explanation... I shouldn't have made yellow goldfish, since yellow is often linked with intellectuals... Patient people are goldfish :s, people who admit to being annoying are goldfish... flexible people are goldfish... oh dear... people who like sleeping and seafood are goldfish... and people who like baths are goldfish. Wow, I really confused that one! Sorry, I made it years ago, don't take it personally!  [ send green star]
