Hmm almonds hmm December 12, 2004 11:40 AM

Just a quick question: are almonds OK for ratties?  [ send green star]
Almonds - a little goes a long way December 12, 2004 11:59 AM

It is my understanding that almonds contain compounds that prevent the absorbtion of certain vitamins. So feeding lots of almonds could result in a deficiency of those vitamins. If you feed as an occasional treat I think it is ok. It is a "bad no never" food it is more of a "now and then" food.  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

Ah good, OK then. It's just we fed a couple of almonds to some rats in the wildlife park. I'm sure they don't get many almonds; I believe most people go to feed the ducks and steer clear of the rats... so it's OK we gave them a treat? They really ARE cute. Even my phobic friend grew to like them... interesting...  [ send green star]
