Well, I'm new here, and as of yet I have no rat. However there's one on its way and I can hardly wait! *hearsmile* I am buying my rat baby from a breeder here in DK www.zen-rats.dk , and my daughter is getting one too. Actually, I'm getting one to keep hers company, as we have heard that it's best to keep 2 rats together, at least. We are both getting female rats, and being so lucky as to be allowed to name her myself, mine will be named Zen-Gwendolyn. I am looking forward to being more active in this group, and will appreciate all and any good advice from people here. Hugs from Terese.

It's so nice to have you here! We're a very nice group of people who love their ratties just as you will. I can't remember, did you say you had rats before? Regardless, we're glad you're here and look forward to sharing rat stories and info with you.
Thank you for the warm welcome Gwendolyn will be my first rat, and even though I do not know all that much about having a rat, I am reading all the books I can find on rats, and the breeder I am buying from has had rats for years, and she's a great help. My Gwendolyn is only a tiny little thing now, as she was born on february 11., and it will be some time before I can bring her home, and I just can't wait! *hearsmile*
Do make sure you get two ratties right off the bat. Especially from the same litter. They will need each other! No matter how hard we try, we can't take the place of another ratty.
Pretty soon you'll be making special dishes for your girls. You'll have them ice fishing *fishing* and be worried about every little sound you hear. You'll fall in love *hearsmile* over and over and over and you will wonder why you are so lucky to be blessed with such incredibly bright, loving and delightfully funny friends. You won't be able to say and you'll become a woman to your rats!
And it will be the most wonderful experience of your life...
Let us know when you bring your babies home! We can't wait! Oh...and do get a digital camera, you can't have rats without one!
This is my rat baby, Gwendolyn. I just couldn't wait to show her off! Photo is taken the day I chose her at the breeders home, and Gwendolyn is only 2 weeks old here. She'll be coming home with me at Easter.
There is only one week left now, then I can bring Gwendolyn home. Oh no, she will not be alone, because my daughter( living at home) is buying a rat baby from the same breeder, and we will both be bringing our rat babies home next friday. They will be living together in the same cage, and they already know each other, as they come from litters born only 6 days apart. In a few days the 2 litters will be separated from their mothers; The males from the females. Then Gwendolyn and Bibernelle ( daughters rat baby) will be together from then. We have visitet our new babies several times, and the breeder has given us lots of info. She has been breeding rats for 5 years, so we are well informed.
Hi, I was sitting at the computer with Gwendolyn under my sweater, and she was all cozy and I thought she was asleep...but...all of a sudden I got all wet and warm on my tummy, because she peed on me! I thought, "never mind, we do have soap and water"! so I didn't bother to get up and put her back in her cage. But I should have, because she just did it again! Gwendolyn does not usually do this, but she'd been out playing for some time. She even got to know our cat, Hannah, and is not afraid of her anymore. Hannah is so loving, and gave Gwendolyn 3 "headbonks"
Aww, what a sweet little picture! It's so nice when more people get rats, cuz we know that one day they will take over the world and we'll be in their good books! My boys love each other too; it's so sweet.

Hi Terese! A himi is a himilayan, as Catriona suggested. They are similar to a Siamese in coloring, but the darker areas are not quite as pronounced. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
Catriona - sure, I'll be a cohost of Rats and Their Reputations with Terese. As long as we cohost, I should be able to handle it. You know I have a bunch of groups already, but I like Rats and their Reputations - we have a good group of folks here!
Yes, Gweny is a "himi", and I love her to pieces....just can't leave her alone! Yesterday she was lying on her side sleeping, down the front of my shirt as usual, and she woke up when I looked down at her. She lay still, looking up at me, and I picked her up to put her in her cage, 'cos I had to go make dinner. She was in an awfull hurry to get back in her cage, and rushed to her toilet corner and made a "puddle". Isn't she just a darling? She'd been holding it in, as not to "puddle" on me, I'm sure!
I'd love to co-ghost, errr, , co-host this group with you others, just let me know what you expect of me,
I use to have a rat as a pet/friend when I was a child. I loved her, her name was Crystal. I use to take her everywhere with me, a lot of people would make comments like "Eww...she has a rat", "oh my god, did you see that girl, she has a rat for a pet", or "eww...how disgusting, she has a pet rat." So.... many other ignorant comments, but my favorite was "ooh...what a cool rat." As she was, she was the coolest! I loved her, and can't remember how much fun I use to have with her. I would still like to get another one. I want to get it for my three year old, but am waiting until he turns 5, as I don't think he will be ready for one until then. They need so much attention and love.
Crystal was an extremely playful and loyal friend. I will always remember rats as another one of mans best friends...because of her.
