Hello May 03, 2004 5:36 AM

Hi, I'm Scott and I live in the mountains around Charlottesville Virginia. My work is mainly practicing the Rolf Method of Structural Integration, although I have, through client experiences, been drawn into what I call body oriented past life therapy. I am also begining to start up some workshops for massage therapist. The first one is a six hour ethics class. I also want to teach a class on the use of intuition. My website is I am interested to see how this group grows and what direction it takes. Scott Gauthier  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

HI - I am interested in what you intend with your class on intuition. Is this for practioners or anybody? Annie Bond, upstate NY, hands-on healing  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

The idea for the class on intuition came to me during a meditation. Basically it is a experiential workshop in which one could experiment with intuition and then discover if it is really an intuition, a projection, or a combination of both. One of the goals would be learning how to take ownership of whatever sense, feeling, or thought that one has and then checking it out with the other. This way I can discover what is mine and what is yours and what may belong to the both of us. I beleive this would be beneficial for therapist in that they could discover what belongs to them and then leave what belongs to the client to the client. We don't need to take their stuff home with us. Scott  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

HI Scott- Another good use of your exercise would be to help a practioner learn more clearly what is a guiding intuitive message and what is their personality. Helping one's personality get out of the way is one of the hardest parts of being a good healer!  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

This is the practice I want to do when I'm old enough. Any advice?  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

Hi Bree, The way I got started was by reading the book "Hands on Healing" by Prevention Press which gave a 3-4 page summary of most of the hands on healing techniques at the time. There might be a updated issue out there by now, see what is at your library. Anyway I suggest you read up on all that is out there and see if any certain type of hands on healing really grabs you. You know that feeling that something just makes a lot of sense to you. Then I suggest you try it out. Try to find a practitioner near you and get a session. Experience is worth a thousand words. Keep up with your studies. Some modalities require lots of science, anatomy, and physiology while others require more understanding of psychology and spirituality. Hope this helps. I would have to say.... May 27, 2004 7:32 AM

...when we are "healing" aren't we going off of intuition anyways? When I am balancing chakras, healing the body, I am going off of "feelings" which is my intuition guiding me. I am not a massage therapist, so I don't know anything about that, but when it comes to hands-on healing and chakral/aura healing, I "feel" where the ailment is. Once I feel it, then I can begin to "see" it. Crystal Priestess, Kingstone Wicca  [ send green star]  [ accepted]
I would have to ask... May 30, 2004 7:10 PM

what do you mean by feelings? This is where I find it gets interesting. What do you do to perceive those feelings? How are those feelings perceived? Are they thoughts, bodily sensations, sounds, are your eyes directed to look at a certain area? Do your hands just reach for an area? And how do you "see"? And how is it different from looking? I'm not sure if there are any correct answers other than the one's you discover by yourself. But the questions are worthwhile.  [ send green star]  [ accepted]
Intuituve Massage May 31, 2004 7:43 AM

Dear Bree R. I have a suggestion about how you might find your way toward intuitive massage. Intuition is 'the direct knowing of something without the use of conscious mind'. To become adept at intuitive massage, you'll need both competent massage training and a keen sense of intuition. You can always find a quality massage school, so you might want start with the intuitive part of the equation. Direct knowing can be found only within yourself. Places of knowing within, include: abstract intuition, just knowing - found in the mind or crown chakra at the top of the head; clairvoyance, seeing energy pictures of the truth - found in the brow chakra in the middle of the forehead; clairaudiance, hearing that small still inner voice of Self - found in the sinus cavities of the face, neck, behind the ears or the throat chakra (the cleft in the throat); clairsentience, feeling that intuitive quality - found in the navel area (aka: gut feeling) of the body; or in the center of your heart. To access any of these places within, to develop your intuition, you might want to go to that very special place that you know, around your home, in the woods or fields, perhaps in your own room (or in the attic?) and develop or access a strong sense of self and in that quiet place. Begin to develop a dialogue with your inner knowing. Then perhaps, begin to journal your knowingness. If you like, you can check my email site: for my CD#1 that is desinged to help people get grounded and in touch with their inner knowing. With Many Blessings, Ron L.  [ send green star]
