...but then again, I am also a published poet & on the way to my psychology degree and recorded a cd last year.
(Oh by the way mathematics is my weakest link but music is one of my strongest...heard they both use a similiar part of the brain, perhaps it has to do with being ambidexterous).

I am not accusing, but many times we do worse with the things we feared or were told were "too hard (for us)". I know that my wife, now that I have helped her not to fear math, is doing so much better at simple percentages and such in her head without need of the calculator. Fear is a very powerful negative motivator, and we can only overcome it if we first admit it (to ourselves....no need to make it public ). First, I showed my wife that math really boils down to TWO operations and two only: One can only add to or subtract from any given number. That is math in a nutshell. The myriad ways to do this all have to do with memorization, not with learning new things to do TO numbers. She feared fractions, so I showed her a way to think of them spatially, rather then JUST as numbers. Now she can convert "thirds to quarters, etc" without my help (leaving me open to do other things when she does cook ) . At the store, I got her to think of "percentages" as "parts of a dollar" and that multiplication can be broke down: 30% off is the same as taking 10% off three times, etc. Now I don't need to be "right by her side" every moment in a store either. Math can normally be broken down into simpler parts, so much so that multiplication/division of 3 and 4 digit numbers can be done "off the cuff" without aids like calulators and pencil/paper. I hope this helps.

You know, it may only be that the meds hinder your ability to take the tests. Test really only prove how good you are at taking that particular test , so one can not base everything on the test, really.

Well I am not sure... it looks like I might be a mix...
There was one question to which I couldn't give only one answer. So I took the test once and it gave me a result, and then I went back to see if the result was the same after I chose the other answer that I wanted to give at the same time. (the question was 23. What would be the eaisest for you? There is 2 choices in there that I find to be very easy for me. But one is not easier than the other, so this is why I thought that it was only fair to give them both credit.)
here are my results.

Hahaha, I'm not scared of maths, lol in fact I think it is an amazing thing, if only my brain didn't read the numbers backward. Now if I had a mirror in class whilst growing up, there, it would have made a difference. Always loved algebra cause it didn't require numbers
If I understood mathematics I would understand the universe.
You see my dilemma? ... Not backwards I hope
Thanks for the advice but sort of need to look for an answer on a different tangent.
Well, maybe my use of "fear" and scared were a little misleading. (sorry, I hope I did not offend you), I meant more along the lines of "apprehension". I know it would make me apprehensive.
My particular "problem" was not that I saw the numbers backwards, but interpreted them as such, between brain and pencil (or typewriter, etc). I would plainly think: 73 and would inevitablly write/type 37 most times. It was annoying, but I did find ways to "patch" the problem, even though it would take me twice as long to do the same problem on paper as it did in my head. I had a similar problem with word spelling: I could do wonderful in spelling bees, but if I wrote/typed my thoughts out, it would not "look right" and nine times out of ten, I would change my spelling and it would then be wrong.
Sometimes, in my case, it is just "noise" that is the problem: noise inside my head. That is, too many thoughts all at once, and you have noise. Makes focusing a problem (but when I read, I overfocus and block the world out, to my wife's utter dismay ).
For me it is too many horns honking...Like a traffic jam...so I just get out my harmonica and wait patiently for all the cars to find their way.
I remember in remedial math in the 9th grade...which I spent most of my time with my head on my desk looking up the girls dress sitting behind me...anyway, we were asked to demonstrate a math problem in front of class the next day...we had been studying something...I don't remember...so anyway the next day, I came in and filled the board with Einstein's Quantum Theory ...I was quite proud of myself...the teacher slammed her grade book down and called be an idiot savant...I only heard the word idiot...I had no idea what savant meant...it wasn't until graduate work that I ever tried math again and I got an A...thank you very much.

Well that's the answer the quiz gave me and boring as it sounds..it's probably somewhat accurate..I have taught at BOCES and night school, written for a newspaper and genealogy papers, had a few poems published and ran for office, none of which earned me any money to speak of.

'You would make a fantastic poet, journalist, writer, teacher, lawyer, politician, or translator' ... well, I've written and had published 10 books, including journalistic, personal and political pieces, plus several teaching manuals; I've been a language teacher ever since 1960 and a translator for as long. Have also been a librarian... but never a lawyer. Sometimes these tests work out!
As one would expect, the majoity of posts relate to linguistic, and logical-mathematical intelligence. I got logical-mathematical.

Hello!
I'm a Life Member and attended the World Gathering in Orlando last August. What a delightful experience that was!
Anyway, this little test rated "linguistic intelligence" as my primary mode. Perhaps that's correct, but it was often difficult to select the best answer among the choices provided. It's doubtful that intelligence can be so easily compartmentalized ... by definition, intelligence is considered a common factor "g" that correlates with strong abilities in a number of areas. It's not unusual to see a great variety of interests and talents. Two basic subsets of the "g" factor are "crystallized" and "fluid". The first of those is my stronger area; words seem more interesting than working with geometric shapes and such. Perhaps this fun test has some validity to it, after all, but one would have to check into its norming. The Myers-Briggs personality types are intriguing to consider. For what it's worth, over the years I've come out consistently as INFP on Myers-Briggs. There are 16 basic types represented. Chances are that group members here fall disproportionately into two or three of the sixteen possible. I'd be curious to see whether that's so...

Julia ! I pretty much agree, that is that these tests (especially untimed, online tests with fewer then 50+ questions) can only be for the fun of seeing if someone created a test that "guesses" a person's proper "state" fairly correctly. In short, they are just another way to experience another aspect of joie de vivre!
