so our squirrel is back outside the house! The cats put the run on it! That part is good. They roughed it up some good though. it has scabs over 1 hip and it looks like it's blind or partially blind. It comes to the bird feeder once a day and sit and eats for a good 20 minutes! We can get about 1/2 a foot away from it before it runs off!!
Squirrel is doing ok, cut on hip looks like it's healing up ok. It likes the food we have out for the birds and it includes peanuts. The poor bugger is opening his eyes more instead of scrunching them up... It has moved back out to the tool shed so it's safe from other critters. No worries Gary, I am looking out for it. I won't trap it or get the humain society out here cause they would just put it down and this way, it has a fighting chance to get better.
Yeah, Christine. Just make the squirrel as comfortable as possible and let it die on it's own. The Humane Society has the right idea but the poor little bugger can just die on his own. Make sure the cats don't get too close and catch something. Bury it in a small hole and put a cross on top. Or if you're Jewish, put a Star of David on top.

So I haven't seen the squirrel in a few days now. Mike saw a rat on the back deck eating the corn bits that the birds have thrown out of the feeders. Maybe the rat was the one who attacked the squirrel cause out cats are indoors... Then this morning there was a bunny on the back deck after the corn. lots of animals out this way! Now there is talk from Mike about a pellet (insert full body shiver here) gun. I say no but got vetoed. He better lock it up or I'm going to explode!!!!
so Mike went over kill and bought 3 pellet guns and is using the rats for target practice. Found out that they are living in the junk pile by my compost bin. Nice cozy place for them... Mike said that he hit 2 of them in the rump, no kill shot yet... Not impressed. I can't get it thru his head that a gun is a gun lock them up. He thinks that since the kids never go down stairs it's ok to leave them anywhere. Getting fed up and ready to throw the guns in the trash next garbage day!!
Tell Mike to throw Nerf Balls at the rats. If you hit the rats in the head just between the ears, the rats will run away. Why waste perfectly good pellets on rats. Once you scare the rats away, just laugh at them and go have a beer at the local tavern and remember the day you scared away the rats with Nerf Balls. And I'll have a Fuzzy Navel!

I love the cloloured leaves as well... haven't ever painted them though... still learning how to paint and get what I see onto paper or canvas... I have moments of awesomeness. I just need to stay on it and get er done.... I'm a better at taking pictures...
I'm a coldblooded animal I guess. I need the heat of the sun to keep me warm.... I freeze all fall, winter and most of the spring.
